ANSWER:

WHEN THE CHURCH AT THE SUMMIT WAS VOTED “FOURTH BEST MONUMENT” IN FRANCE, IT WAS – – –

GR SHI PEA HI =
HIGH PRAISE

Good Morning, Everyone!         🙏🏻 CLOSER TO HEAVEN? 🙏🏻

🎶 Your love, liftin’ me HIGHer…Than I’ve ever been lifted before…So keep it up, quench my desire…And I’ll be at your side forevermore…🎶 “(Your Live Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” – Jackie Wilson 1967

🙏🏻 A tourist site it surely is, but talk about a prayer,
I’d GRIPE just looking at it…so high up in the air…
“St Michel on a needle”…and the name is apropos,
I’d give the SHIRT off from my back…but there’d I’d never go…
It does APPEAR quite beautiful, a HYBRID though to me,
A mix of fear and vertigo, I’ve no desire to see…
Hats off to those who’d venture, but not any of my days
Would I intend to climb those stairs…from me there’s no HIGH PRAISE…🙏🏻

While none of today’s words are new to the Jumble, I think it’s safe to say that SaintMichel d’Aiguilhe is. At least it’s new to me…And it’s all here, should you like to read up on it. Translated to read: St Michael on a Needle, I definitely get the point

The solve…in a nutshell…It’s a Chapel, it’s HIGH, and people go there to PRAISE the Lord, and St Michael the Archangel. Talk about devotion, huh? You’d definitely need some lofty intentions, in the grand scale of things…And with all the amazing sites to see in France, rating as the 4th Best Monument is praise indeed…So, there it have it, Folks..I’m just going to summit up…

Be well, Everyone. And stay safe…🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  1. Good morning. Pretty easy today. Breezed through the words and after staring at the cartoon the answer came to mind after a minute. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Paul. I agree…definitely an easy, breezy go of it. Be well, Brooklyn, stay safe. 🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Hi Marga. The letters may spell it…But not what David aSPIREd to say…Be well, Marga and stay safe. 🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 👕Thinking there was no way he could APPEAR in public with the SHIRT the way it was, he had to GRIPE about the manufacturing of these HYBRID fabrics…and couldn’t understand why the industry gave them such HIGH PRAISE…👕

🤦🏻‍♂️He wished she hadn’t given him another flaky SHIRT
You’d think that after all this time she’d know it wasn’t worth…
The time and money she’d invest, because he’d only GRIPE
    He wasn’t for frivolity …no way..just not his type….
The shirt was like a HYBRID, a mix of this and that,
There’s no way he’d APPEAR in it…he told her right out flat
How could she think he’d wear this shirt…What color was it maize?
He didn’t mean to hurt her…but this shirt got no HIGH PRAISE…🤦🏻‍♂️

  3. Seriously cooked. It could be HIGH ASPIRE. There is something wrong with both answers. The church does have a spire, and churches usually help people aspire to the highest. But it doesn’t seem grammatically correct, using a verb as an adjective. HIGH PRAISE reflects the choice of fourth best monument but churches are not characterized primarily by praise but by other concepts such as religion, God, and holy. There is also the off the wall answer HIGH SPIREA (although I bet there are roses growing near the church), as well as several answers containing HEGIRA, which is a different religion.

  4. All the anagrams seemed familiar especially hybrid and appear, and then given the church high up on the hill, the cartoon solution,”high praise” was a blind solve.Definitely an easy breezy Monday type puzzle on another stay at home Friday.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Yes, another way too easy one. Be well, Prof. Stay safe. 🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Hi all – I saw PREPARE before APPEAR. Thought something like “Peak Popularity” for the answer, but the letters showed HIGH and the rest.

Thanks for the link Angela. It’s enough to give me vertigo just looking at the pictures. Great song also, and any mention of him always reminds me of one of my favorite Van Morrison songs, the simple straightforward great rocker, “Jackie Wilson Said”:

    Good wishes to everyone.

“Although the ads would APPEAR to show the HYBRID getting great mileage, the buyer had a GRIPE with the dealer when he nearly lost his SHIRT on his first fill-up.”

    • Hey Steve. Vertigo inducing is right. Beautiful…butte definitely not for me…😉 Be well, Steve. Stay safe. 🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Easy one again today. Thanks for the link, Angela. I had never heard of this church – nearer my God to thee indeed. Stay well all.

    • Good Morning, Betty. I’d never heard of it either. And I wish I had thought of your comment..”Nearer my God….”. It makes a much more clever heading than what I went with. Very well said! Be well and stay safe, Betty. 🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Oh my goodness, Steve, you’re right. Weren’t they a classy and courageous group of musicians?

  7. There is a better solution to the 5/8 jumble.

Since Saint Michel means St. Michel on a needle and it is just the “fourth best monument” the best answer is

    HIGH ASPIRE.

    • Hi Doug. It’s been suggested a few times today. But you know that we just report the news here…we don’t make it. And while the logic of “aspiring higher” may ring true, IMO. the wording HIGH ASPIRE just doesn’t “sound” correct in answer to the puzzles question. The PRAISE holds a double meaning here. Praise for ranking 4th, and Praise as one does in prayer. And I feel that’s what David was aspiring to…Thanks for commenting, Doug. Be well…and stay safe. 🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️
