Good Morning, Everyone!

🎶 Take another little PIZZA my heart, now baby…(break it)…Break another little bit of my heart, now honey…(have a)…Have another little PIZZA of my heart now, baby…You know you’ve got it if it makes you feel good…🎶 “Piece of My Heart” – Janis Joplin  1968

🍕 I doubt if there’s amongst us anyone who could deny
That pizza is the one food where we all see eye-to-eye
You needn’t be Italian to feel FONDLY for it’s taste
No INFAMY is ever found, no MISUSE of its place…
Most pizza joints aren’t SWANKY, but they make you feel at ease
Any oft times we have FOUGHT to get a table when we please
So there’s no doubt these people here feel their place is a palace
(And I apologize for having to now mention CALLUS)…
It’s great to have a pizza place where we feel that we fit…
‘Cause pizza is that comfort food …ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT! 🍕

Ok, I’m not gonna lie. This one gave me some agita. Not the solution…that was a piece of cake…Nor the words, they went down easy…It was trying to get them into a rhyme that fit the puzzle’s theme that had me going. As if Infamy wasn’t bad enough, what’s with Callus? Now Callous I could see…but callus? I mean for pizzsake, are you kidding me? Skin and tissue and what not? When we’re talking Pizza? It was all I could do to keep from…well, you get the picture…But the show must go on, so I dished it out the best I could. Only thing… that the last line? I’m pronouncing Any as NNN EEE, stretching it out a little, so that the rhythm stays intact. As I said, this one damn near gave me a melt down…

…And one more thing that topped it off? I spent so much time searching the Archives for FOUGHT, that I thought I would knead a drink. I just couldn’t believe that I wasn’t finding it. Cheese, Louise…can this be right? Well it sure seems so. So I’m going with it as a newbie, and if I have thyme later to look into it further, I’ll just edit the post, and take out the statement. Anyway…Our other words? They’ve all made the cut before, but I’d like to go on record saying that not only are all the anagrams new, they’re a masterful bunch indeed. And whatever resauces David used to serve up these six? Well they’re definitely a cut above the rest! The hardest to swallow this morning? CALLUS, because 4 of the Early Birds saw casual, and just couldn’t get past it. And adding salt to the wounds was MISUSE. You know how tricky those combination words can be… As I said, these anagrams were a bit more than our usual fare

So, where yesterday we were Whined and Dined…Today we’re Fine and Dined! Ah, PIZZA. While we’ve had many a Pizza themed puzzle in the past, even as recent as November, you have to admit that Pizza’s definitely a slice of Heaven, am I right? And crust me, I think I’m a pretty good judge here. Because not only am I Neapolitan, but I was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, the Pizza Capital of the World, and I have this inordinate love affair with cheese…so I’m all over this. ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT,  I’m batting a thousand. Pizza comes from Naples, the first Pizza place in the United States opened in New York, and the cheese thing…well as I’ve said many times before, I’m a definite weirdough when it comes to cheese…by any stretch of the imagination…So I definitely got peppered up seeing these three diners here today, enjoying a Pizza. And even dough I don’t think I’ve ever sausage an odd way to slice a pizza, as our question states, regardless of the size, it’s all good. And that was the key to the puzzle. Each of the three speaking about the size of the slices…how different they were cut? All you kneaded to do was digest the dialogue!

Eye candy? I’m always a sucker for when Jeff draws someone working so intently that their tongue’s sticking out…and our pizzaiolo is doing just that. And the order wheel showing behind his head is always a cute touch. The usual detail is shown with the shakers of garlic powder and red pepper flakes on the table, and of course there’s the waitress carrying the large pie in the background. But I’m going to have to go with that 10-slice pizza...I always just stuck to ate…So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone!…And I wanted to end with a good Pizza joke…but I just couldn’t come up with the delivery…🍕🙋🏻‍♀️

And once again, if Janis isn’t exactly your taste? Maybe 🎶this 🎶might cut it…

  1. 🧾 Having FOUGHT off the feeling that there might be a MISUSE of funds at his SWANKY new club, that would have attached a whiff of INFAMY, he sat unwittingly scratching at the CALLUS on his finger as he realized that ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT, he’d always think FONDLY of his staff…🧾

📐 The CALLUS on his hand was proof the hard work he’d put in,
And he knew that he’d FOUGHT for them to see where he had been…
He heard them whisper INFAMY, but he knew he’d change that
He just needed some extra time…another turn at bat…
The place was really SWANKY, but he felt there was MISUSE
And he was out to school them of the other guys abuse…
And once the trust had taken hold, and FONDLY they viewed him
He knew they’d fire Ace Designs so his crew could begin…
Determination was the key…and he had the true grit…
And hard work always paid off…ANY WAY (that)YOU SLICE IT 📐

  2. Morning, Angela and Everyone –
I got a kick out of your song choice and the rest of your post. I solved the clue words, remembering this time to try the mis prefix for Misuse. But I didn’t see Slice, which seems obvious now, and gave up on the answer. What would you say makes a pizza a Brooklyn pizza?

    • Hi Caroline. Good Afternoon! I worked my way back today, so I apologize for getting to you last. I had a feeling you might enjoy Janis…I can’t hear her now without thinking of you! 😉 And thanks for the Shout Out. Slice? Well we sure had enough to go around! 😂 But I’m a little fuzzy on your Brooklyn pizza question…I always think of Brooklyn as having the best pizza, maybe because it’s what I cut my teeth on…but as far as NY goes? It’s all in the water…We definitely have the best water going. You grow up with NY pizza and move away? Nothing but heartbreak! 😂 Hope your days going well! We have some nice weather for a change! 🍕🙋🏻‍♀️

      • It’s fortunate to have good water, and I’m sure that must make a difference. Yes, I do love Janice and that song. And I enjoyed being reminded of that other song by Betty. Recently, I had an oval pizza so the slices couldn’t be identical.

        • Yep..It’s all in the water! 😉 And one can never go wrong with Dino. He had a beautiful voice…and my God, was he a handsome devil! 😉 I don’t think I’ve ever had an oval pizza…Is that like a personal sized one? All this pizza talk has made me so hungry…I attacked my meatballs and ate a meatball sandwich already….couldn’t wait any longer till pasta time! 😂🙋🏻‍♀️

        • That sounds interesting, Caroline…I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. The only time I’ve ever eaten a personal sized pizza was in Chicago…a deep dish pizza. I very rarely eat pizza out…I make my own once in a while, but it’s so much easier to just to order it in…🍕🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Hi all – When putting the “S’s” together didn’t work, I remembered using MIS as a prefix from yesterday. I first saw “Casual” instead of “Callus” and got distracted by the great oldie “A Casual Look” (and I’m sure those who were drafted after the “Day of INFAMY” related to its sentiments when they heard it later):
After that, I thought of “callous” and Maria Callas.
Wrote down the answer letters, and all the ‘Y’s” showed the way.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pizza with different sized slices, and Angela, around here the two little shakers always contain red pepper flakes and grated cheese, not garlic powder. I’d get a big surprise if I ate at your place!

    Have a great day, everyone!

    • Hey, Steve…Casual had the Early Birds at first glance too…and how I wish it was! Callus? Ugh…it gave me grief! 😉 And I think we’re all in the same boat when it comes to Infamy. Infamy=Roosevelt…But between those 2 words, I was this close 🤏🏻 to throwing in the towel! A rather challenging group today, right? The Pizza? SMH! But as I just told Betty…it did make for a very clever finish! Have a great day, Steve! Enjoy! 🍕🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. Ended the week on a high note. I had no problem with either the words or cartoon answer. After about five minutes on the cartoon answer I put it aside and started laundry. When I came back to it I had no problem at all. My only problem would be whether to have two slices of the regular pizza or one slice and another slice of Sicilian pizza. What a dilemma. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Afternoon, Brooklyn! (I’m making sure I keep my East and West coast time zones in check)! 😉 And I often have the same problem…those Sicilian slices are always calling my name too…but when it comes to them, I’m a little more choosy…I think L&B spoiled me from early on…Dilemma, indeed! 😉 Hope you’re having a good one, Paul! 🍕🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Okay, Angela: – “ In Napoli where love is king, when boys meets girl, here’s what they sing … When the Moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore! “ ….. Score one for the Neopolitans! Though my family was from Genoa & Piemonte we too love pizza. Agree with Steve, I’ve never seen a pizza with different size slices – only in Jumble Land? No problem with the the words or cartoon answer today. I’m thinking that pizza sounds good for dinner tonight.

    • Good Morning, Betty..👏🏻👏🏻Believe me, Dino was definitely what first started playing, https://tinyurl.com/w8bbouq but I think I’ve used the song 3 times already, so I thought I’d color outside the lines a little! 😉 Especially in light of that pizza! I was just as surprised with that size-challenged pie. But if it was the uniform 8 slices…David would be back at the drawing board! …Oh wait, that’s Jeff! 😉 …But you catch my drift! And It did make for a cute, clever answer tho….Pizza tonight? Mangia! Have a great day, Betty, Enjoy! 🍕🙋🏻

  6. Speaking of Dino, Angela, an army buddy of mine and I were in Italy one evening (on military leave) and driving around the Leaning Tower of Pisa when all of a sudden, Dean’s voice came through the radio singing – That’s Amore. That’s one moment I’ll never forget!! Stay well!

    • Hi Chuck…Good to hear from you. And what a great memory! I’m definitely jealous! Hope all is well. Have a great night! 🍕🙋🏻‍♀️
