🎁🍰🎈🎉  HaPpY bIrThDaY, JUMBLE JEFF!!!  🎁🍰🎈🎉

Happy Monday morning, everyone!  And of course a big, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jumble Jeff!!!  Thank you for all of your imaginative cartoons and hard work throughout the year, Jeff.  I know the Jumble holds a special place in everyone’s hearts and to be able to bring a bit of happiness to people each and every morning must truly be a special feeling.  Enjoy your day and best wishes for many more!

We have a new clue word in DRINK this morning.  I found DRANK, TIPSY and even a final solve of SOFT DRINK, but failed to bump into the varietal with an “I”.  It didn’t cause me any headaches, nor did any of the three remaining words.  STRESS would be my pick for the hardest due to all those S’s!  Lucky for us, the S&T were in close proximity to one another so it made the answer a bit less. . . STRESSful.

Hey, it’s Honest Abe again!  Seeing him reminded me that I forgot to mention that it was his birthday when we saw him last Wednesday.  Today he’s feline pretty good as he pauses to give his furry friends some lovin.  As Jeff correctly stated, Abe’s cats were named Tabby and Dixie, but he also had turkeys, rabbits and goats.  The most surprising fact I learned was that he had a dog named Fido, but he left him behind in Illinois after winning the presidency.  Fido was a rescue dog and Abe adopted him 5 years before the election.  Jeff is a rescue dog owner too, so it’s only fitting that these two great men share the same birthday!

The final solve was a 13-letter pile of garbage!  David did such an amazing job at hiding the solution that I had no idea where to begin my solve.  Since the cartoon featured some cats and a president, I thought those hints might be the optimal place to start.  I found PRESIDENT without much of a struggle, but it was just too dang long.  The leftover letters of “RRSU” made no sense so I tried a few other variations until I saw PURR.  It sure took some careful consideration, but all the pieces fell into place after a few minutes of fiddling.  Have a marvelous start to your week, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

  1. Good morning. The words were a breeze but not wanting to have a stressful morning before breakfast, after a few minutes I caved in and looked for your answer to the cartoon. Thank goodness I did because I saved a lot of time because I never would have gotten it. Until tomorrow stay well.

  2. Good morning again. “I didn’t Know That”. Happy Birthday Jumble Jeff. Thank you for an enjoyable morning everyday and thank you Mike for your wealth of information and dedication to jumble. Without you and Angie it would wouldn’t be the same. I don’t have a warm spot for cats like I do for dogs because my next door neighbors cat leaves his gems in my front garden (not theirs) a few times a week. If anybody has a remedy to stop this please let me know other than a hit. Lol. Take care.

    • Paul, I’ve heard a couple of things but I don’t know how well they work. Some people push plastic forks handle-down into their garden dirt thinking the cats won’t walk across the up-pointing tines. Others use spray repellants or ultrasound devices, and some grow a patch of catnip away from the garden hoping the cats will be attracted to that instead of the flowers and vegetables.
I once had a can of cat repellant, and was very amused when I read the label and saw that it was manufactured in Piscataway, New Jersey!

  3. Hi all – Easy Monday solve today. Nice to see PULLEY, which thwarts the usual tricks of using UP at the beginning and LY at the end (although the single Y at the end still held true). I saw that “residents” fit the answer, and that made PURR and the pun obvious.

Loved the term “LITTERally” in the voting box today!

    Have a great day, everyone!

“When the construction worker had to STRESS hard to operate the PULLEY, it made him regret his choice of PRUNE juice for his breakfast DRINK”.

  4. Happy Washington’s Birthday, official legal name of the holiday ,not Presidents Day,even though the real Washington’s Birthday is on Feb 22. FYI Lincoln’s birthday,Feb 12 is celebrated in Illinois. As far as the puzzle ,I got the anagrams, but thought the second puzzle answer was presidents, rather than residents.

  5. No problem with the words or cartoon solution this morning. Thought it was a clever puzzle. I didn’t know that Abe Lincoln had cats so I learned something new. Many years ago, one of our local bakeries used to sell mini (6 inch) cherry pies for 22 cents on Washington’s Birthday. Happy Birthday to Jumble Jeff.

    • Hi Betty. Good Morning. There’s bakeries near me that still sell little cherry pies and tarts for today and for Thursday which is Nat’l Cherry Pie Day. But the 22 cents won’t even get us in the door these days! 😉 But so funny, that you mentioned it, because I have the kids today, since they’re out of school..and I couldn’t get to the bakery, so I bought a box of Entenmanns Cherry Mini Pies to have as a snack after lunch..(And.I’m looking forward to it myself)! 😂🍎🙋🏻‍♀️

        • Tks. Betty. I did…(Actually I ended up enjoying it twice…It was a big mug of coffee)! 😉 Hope you’re having a great day! 🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. 🥤 STRESS was put on choosing the perfect DRINK to serve and devising a whimsical PULLEY system to lower it, for when the Cat Lovers organization, the PURR-RESIDENTS would gather to PRUNE the bushes…🥤

🐱 He loved his different juices, grapefruit and PRUNE were the best…
And he felt that they helped calm him when he’d fall under the STRESS
‘Cause working on the PULLEY, he needed time to DRINK,
And try not concentrating on the thought that he could sink…
He just wished that he could transfer and be far from all these vents,
He hated cats and there was such a smell of PURR-RESIDENTS…🐱🙋🏻‍♀️
