WHEN HE FELL ASLEEP ON THE INNER TUBE, HE – – –
FOD FRT IF DE = DRIFTED OFF
Good Morning, Everyone! 🌊 NO, NOT “THAT” YOU TUBE…🌊
🎶 Day after day I’m more confused…Yet I look for the light in the pouring rain…You know that’s a game that I hate to lose…I’m feelin’ the strain, ain’t it a shame…Oh, give me the beat boys, and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock and roll and DRIFT AWAY…Oh, give me the beat boys, and free my soul…I want to get lost in your rock and roll and DRIFT AWAY…🎶 “Drift Away” Dobie Gray 1973
🌊It looks like we are still in Maine, the season isn’t off,
But now we see our characters decided clothes to doff…
And drifting down a stream we see three DELUXE inner tubes,
But one guy in the group ended up acting quite the rube…
Although the water’s calm right now, what if it were to FLOOD?
It sometimes happens quickly…and then where will be their Bud?
They seem a little laissez-faire about the sleepers’ fate,
He’s out in FRONT and moving fast…to me at any rate…
This could go down in INFAMY, I think they’re too blasé,
Suppose he lands in dire straits…and then what will they say?
I’d wake him up before it ends up their words they will scoff,
Because this guy has definitely doubly DRIFTED OFF!🌊
Another day of Old Favorites, with FLOOD DRIFTING as far back as July 2009, and INFAMY clocking in as our most recently seen entry. And back in 2009, Flood’s anagram appeared exactly as it does today. Aside from that, it all went swimmingly…And so on to our cartoon…
For some reason, I feel as if we’re still in Maine. The woman looks pretty much the same as the one we saw yesterday, although our girl today has straight hair and yesterday’s had a curly do….But then again, it’s hair…and they are around moisture…so, let’s face it, that line of thinking doesn’t really hold any water.. And the guy in the back, our drifter? He could very well be yesterday’s MAINE character, don’t you think? But this new guy up front? Here’s my take…He’s the Father-in-law…and I think he looks just a little too comfortable with his son-in-law possibly going up the river. Catch my DRIFT? Inflated ego if you ask me. He seems just a little too shallow. Anyway…Three characters, three inner tubes, and a leisurely morning spent on that Penobscot River I mentioned yesterday. And the guy we see going with the flow? The one who’s really TIREd? Currently…I’m a little worried about him. I mean what’s his wife going to do? Wave him in? I just can’t fathom what they’re thinking…because he’s definitely DRIFTED OFF. Literally…and in more ways than one…Kudos, David. A double take!
Eye candy? The entire panel is awash with the blue of the river. There’s an expanse of black silhouetted pine trees surrounding it all, with a small patch of green showing off to the left. Red cups are in the hands of our two who are aWAKE, and we can see a little underarm patch and some leg stubble on dear old Dad. Nice details..but that’s really neither HAIR nor there. And speaking of WAKE, we can see the circulation of the waters’ movement from the errant tube as it drifts away...But what you need to do though, is look real closely, at the side of the tube at front… There’s a tiny yellow fish, and right next to it a lost yellow fishing lure…with what looks like two sharp hooks...Hmm. Karma? Wouldn’t that be ironic? Maybe our guy should start doing some Rubber Soul searching, huh? Hey, you never know! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And keep in mind…WATERver you do when you’re out dealing with Mother Nature, it’s always wise to inVEST in some protection. You just never know how TIREd you may become…🌊🙋🏻
I thought that Infamy would leave the least wiggle room, but I found I had just as much of an issue with Deluxe…🙋🏻
🇺🇸 At the FRONT of the antique shop was an area marked “DELUXE Items” and as he picked up a bust of FDR, and read the inscription, (the quote about Pearl Harbor and INFAMY), the thought of that day overtook him in a FLOOD of sadness, and for a moment he DRIFTED OFF with the memory…🇺🇸
📰 He read about the INFAMY, the shame that it had brought,
How people’s conversations were a FLOOD with what he wrought…
The FRONT pages all carried the stories of his crimes,
A few DELUXE Editions published…like The NY Times…
Yet interesting as it was, as he sat up in the loft…
He couldn’t stay awake and soon he simply DRIFTED OFF…📰
Good morning. Unlike the Nationals bats last night,I crushed it again today. Another easy breezy one. Once I saw all the Fs for the cartoon answer it was a dead giveaway. Angela loved both your post and hidden treasures that I never saw. Perfect song choice for today however,to me it looks like Skinners Falls where one side was Pennsylvania and the other side New York. You would go canoeing or tubing down it. I’ve been there a few times with a bus load of friends or with family. It was always a good time. Until tomorrow stay well.
Good Morning, Sunshine! LOL…Yeah, those Nat bats definitely DRIFTED OFF course last night, didn’t they? I’m just glad I have no horse in this race…no agita! Skinners Falls? I guess it could be just about anywhere…You know I just went with Maine because it fit the scenario I was concocting in my mind. 😉Thanks so much for the Shout Outs Paul, I always liked the song, and I’m glad you enjoyed it too. And yes, definitely an easy, breezy, cute and clever puzzle this morning. I stay amazed at how David’s able to keep coming up with these gems. TU BE so talented…Have a good one, Brooklyn. …And get your game in today, because tomorrow they’re calling for the Ark! 🌊🙋🏻
F’s were wild, just like deuces, this morning, in the anagrams.I at first thought the puzzle solution would be ‘floated ‘ off rather than ‘drifted’ off with all the available F’s,but alas, the R led me to the final drifted off solution.A rare weekend home,so a readily available real newspaper helped the anagram and puzzle solution,Go Astros.
Hi Prof. Two of the Early Birds flirted with Floated this morning too, but quickly recovered with the lack of an L. Hope you get to relax and enjoy your down time! 🌊🙋🏻
It wasn’t that tough. I got the “drift” of it
👍🏻🙋🏻
DELUXE eluded me and almost EXCLUDED me. The double “F”s gave the last word away, the rest was a gift. Hello again! Another nice Autumn day.
The time of INFAMY for the DELUXE car dealership was the day the FLOOD waters rose high enough to ruin its FRONT showroom and several vehicles therein.
Hi Chuck. 👏🏻👏🏻Nicely done. And your DRIFT on it kept with the theme of the puzzle to boot! I especially enjoyed playing with FLOOD, since it opened the GATES to more than one interpretation. I live for words like that. Hope your having a good one! 🌊🙋🏻
Would have got it quicker if I wasn’t so “tired” or if I wanted to cheat I could have looked it up on “U Tube”.
👍🏻🙋🏻
Hi all – Once again, putting ‘Y’ at the end came to the rescue for INFAMY.
Thought it was FLOATED OFF – had a real laugh when I realized it was DRIFTED! If he did become a DRIFTER, he could wind up getting swept “Under The Boardwalk.”
Great song choice Angela, and you made me laugh several times – first with the youTUBE reference, then “dire straits”. If he does end up there, it may be because he floated on the “Water of Love” through the “Tunnel of Love” and washed up on the “Telegraph Road”.
I think the father in law is watching the guy go DOWN the river rather than up it, although John Lennon seems to agree with you when you hear him SING-SING that he could “float upstream”! He’s more likely to drift into a whirlpool though, and become a REVOLVER. (And seeing your Rubber Soul reference after I copied these lyrics *really* gave me a good laugh):
🎵”When I wake up early in the morning
Lift my head, I’m still yawning
When I’m in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream (float up stream)
Please don’t wake me, no don’t shake me
Leave me where I am, I’m only sleeping.
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time
Lying there and staring at the ceiling
Waiting for a sleepy feeling”🎵 (Beatles, “I’m Only Sleeping”)

Have a great Saturday, everyone!
“The FLOOD would achieve INFAMY when the FRONT of the new DELUXE hotel collapsed and DRIFTED OFF.”
Hey Steve…Thanks for the Shout Outs…especially with RUBBER Soul. I was hoping one of my fellow Beatles lovers would pick up on it. Two of the Lou’s said…”You’re SHOOTING from the LIP again, it’s way too broad”. And I said..”No, that’s REVOLVER, the 7th Album”. 😉 But it was lost on them both. Maybe it was just too early in the morning! And your sentence…👏🏻👏🏻Between you and Chuck, it’s putting me in mind of Sandy, when the exact things happened here on Staten Island..this week of October in fact. Which is why I DRIFTED from it’s usage in both of my second post entries. Even after seven years, it’s just still too raw. 🎶Good Day, Sunshine🎶 🌊🙋🏻
Easy one today but I’m with Chuck I thought the answer would be floated off and even rechecked my anagrams to make sure I had them all correct. It’s been a successful week Jumblewise. Happy Saturday to all of you.
Hi Betty…Another floated? What the “L”? 😂 And, I agree, it’s been an easy, breezy week! Wishing you a great day, Betty. Enjoy! 🌊🙋🏻
Thanks, same to you. 🎵”I need to laugh, and when the sun is out, I’ve got something I can laugh about.”🎵 🙋🏻♂️
Yeah, the way things are today…we need to catch a laugh…🎶Here, There…and Everywhere🎶 🙋🏻
“ Tomorrow may rain so I’ll follow the sun“
