Good Morning, Everyone         ➡️ WHAT’S MY LINE? ⬅️

🎶 I keep a close watch on this heart of mine…I keep my eyes wide open all the time, I keep the ends out for the tie that binds…Because you’re mine, I WALK THE LINE 🎶... “I Walk The Line” – Mr Johnny Cash 1956

➡️ You really have to wonder by looking at this guy,
Despite the WARMTH and SUGARY look…you think this job’ll fly?
You wonder did they FORAGE the Want Ads…can we tell?
‘Cause somehow my gut tells me…this won’t go very well…
He’s going to use that Laying Pram, but there can be no shortage,
Of common sense and precision…and I fear there’s an OUTAGE
And though he wears no SANDAL, I’m picturing just how,
He might INFECT his foot real quick…unless he’s to kowtow…
I could be wrong, and maybe I shouldn’t speak untoward,
But somehow I fear this won’t go exactly that STRAIGHT FORWARD…⬅️

Sunday Morning…and how I love the ROUTE 66 we take today. Six words, six letters each…A Jumbler’s delight! And delight us David has done…For when I let my fingers do the WALKING through the Jumble Pages this morning, I found five of our six words to be nicely LAYED out for us…So, here’s today’s LINE UP…While each of our five words can be TRACED back a few years, they were all also featured in 2018 puzzles. SANDAL, FITTING a double bill, as the oldest and the newest, was seen on 04/03/12, and made its most recent appearance on 10/02/18, while FORAGE showed up last year on 05/27. And along with new anagrams, today we find one more new addition to the Jumble Database…SUGARY is making its debut. And on that sweet note…Let’s WALK over to our cartoon…

So, ROUTE 66. Why not, it’s as good a ROAD as any other, and it is one of the original highways in the U.S. Highway System… We see two Road Surface workers, STEERSMEN, and the one at right, is instructing the trainee at left how to use a LAYING PRAM to paint Road Lines...And from our dialogue, it seems pretty…STRAIGHT FORWARD! What can I say? It was LINED UP for us! I didn’t need to PAINT the picture at all! Nicely done, David. You brought a sMILE to my face!

Eye candy…While the job seems easy enough, you really have to consider what’s going on here. Personally, I’ve never given it much thought before, but I do think this LINE of work DIVIDES those who can from those who just want to earn some money with or without a STEADY job. “Let go every 10 feet”? That’s it? I don’t know…I think I have to lay it on the LINE here…This can really go in the wrong DIRECTION…We see expanses of green, bordering a long STRAIGHT black-tarred Highway. A few bushes are shown off to each side. Our men are dressed alike, in jeans and yellow shirts and caps. The PRAM is red, with a white PAINT canister attached. And on the ground off to the right we can see a carton of additional white canisters. But aSIDE from the way too nonchalant look on our trainees’ face, I have to give it to you STRAIGHT…there’s nothing really catching my eye this morning. So, instead of “visual” candy, I’ll leave you with a little joke to PAVE the way…

🗣 A man gets a job painting lines on the highway. At the end of the first day, his supervisor’s very impressed. “Wow!” he says. “You did eight miles today! That’s great!” The second day, the guy’s production is down to four miles. ‘Still pretty good,’ the supervisor thinks. But on the third day, the guy only does two miles. The supervisor calls him into the office. “What’s going on?” he asks. “The first day you did great with eight miles, then yesterday you were down to four, and today you’ve only managed two. What’s the problem?” The guy rolls his eyes and says “You’re kidding me, right? The carton of canisters keeps getting farther and farther away!”…HA!…How’s that for a LINE? Enough said!!

So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone…And remember, it’s always best to WALK a STRAIGHT LINE in life…and put your best foot FORWARD…Especially if you ever get pulled over by the police…➡️⬅️🙋🏻

  1. Today it wasn’t all that easy writing a LINE…🙋🏻
° Because of the furnaces’ power OUTAGE, the house started to lose it’s WARMTH, and no amount of SUGARY hot chocolate was helping…so hoping she wouldn’t INFECT her throat, she decided to FORAGE for a pair of fleece socks, change from her SANDAL-type shoes, and place another call, getting a little more STRAIGHT FORWARD with her plumber…

  2. Doesn’t PAINT the prettiest picture…but we do have to be careful of things like this..🤧🙋🏻

°Not knowing where it started, this germ that did INFECT,
Half of the office workers…They needed to reflect…
Despite the feeling of real WARMTH, the SUGARY-like sense,
Of camaraderie they shared, there still was some suspense…
So she agreed with others, for the work OUTAGE she’d vote,
She did a FORAGE through her desk…her SANDALs home she’d tote…
And until all the vents are cleaned, no one could well afford,
To sit inside this office..the decision was STRAIGHT FORWARD

  3. Good morning. I can put another feather in my cap because today was no different than yesterday. Must admit I did a lot more thinking on both ends of the jumble but I got through it all. The last word I got was Forage so it is my pick for hardest word. Since I must be Straight Forward Angela. Please stick to your masterful song choices, use of the words and puns because as a joke teller, there is GREAT need for improvement. I must have read the joke over and over to see what I missed and guess what,if there is one there.it flew right over my head like it was shot from a rocket. If the guy was that stupid and didn’t have the smarts to take everything with him he deserves to owe them money. Loved your Johnny Cash pick. I have a couple of his albums. Ring of Fire was my first one. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • ROTFL! Good Morning, Sunshine! Subtle much? 😂 How you make me laugh! Paul, in my defense, it’s not my joke. But I must say that I have been told that I have the strangest sense of humor…and I’ve also been told that I can’t tell a joke, 😂😂. Anyhow…I’m glad you’re back in the saddle as far as the puzzles are concerned, and today was pretty easy breezy. Thanks for the Shout Out, I’m glad you enjoyed the song choice. I have his music too, he was a complicated man…Have a great day, Brooklyn…Enjoy this beautiful weather. ⬅️🙋🏻

  4. We returned yesterday so I got my real paper w the Jumble puzzle this morning. Sandal gave me reason to pause but after that solution, the puzzle answer was indeed straight forward.Speaking of painting highway lines, several years ago on State Road in Parma,Ohio the paint worker was drunk and painted the lines crookedly rather than straight.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Trust me, it’s not just in Ohio! I have a freind who worked for the Highway Department, and OMG..,could I tell you stories! 😉 Our tax dollars at work, huh? And I’m with you…the solve was a STRAIGHT FORWARD one today…Enjoy the day, Prof. I hope you get to relax….➡️🙋🏻

  5. Hi all – I got lucky with the words. Most weren’t instant, but I saw the letter combos I needed – OUT for OUTAGE, FOR for FORAGE, the Y at the end leaving SUGARY and the TH at the end for WARMTH. The answer was very straightforward indeed.

The picture reminded me of the movie “Two Lane Blacktop” starring James Taylor and Dennis Wilson. I only saw it once and liked it a lot, but haven’t seen it since because last time I looked it wasn’t available in any of the usual formats.
When I looked up on Wikipedia, I found this line: “Two-Lane Blacktop is notable as a time capsule film of U.S. Route 66 during the pre-interstate highway era”, so there’s another funny coincidence for you, Angela.

    Have a great day, everyone!

I liked the joke Angela. It reminded me of the carpenter nailing siding to a house, and throwing away about every third nail. His supervisor asks why he’s doing that, and the guy says “The heads are on the wrong end”. The supervisor says “You idiot, those are for the other side”.

“If he hadn’t worn a SANDAL during the power OUTAGE to FORAGE for truffles, he might have noticed the WARMTH and SUGARY appearance of the fungus that would INFECT his toes for weeks”.

    • Hello…again! Sadly, the jokes aren’t that far off the mark! ..😂 Loving the imagination you used to come up with your sentence today..👏🏻👏🏻.Truffles?😉 Have a good one, G. Enjoy! ⬅️🙋🏻

  6. Wow easy one today for a Sunday. No problem with the words or cartoon answer. Loved the story about about the drunk worker in Ohio, Chuck. That’s one for the books. Hope all of you have a good day.

    • Good Morning, Betty. Yes it is…David gave us really good words today…Wishing you a great day! Enjoy! ➡️🙋🏻

  7. Hi Everyone –
I wasn’t able to get the answer on my first try. After the farmers market, I looked again and tried making combinations with the h. This led me to straight and the rest.
I agree with Paul on your song choice, Angela. What a wonderful singer and song.

    • It was that fresh air, Caroline! Works every time! 😉 I’m glad you got the solve….Yes, Johnny Cash was one of a kind. I found myself prefacing his name with Mr. I don’t do that very often, but for some reason I just felt I should. But I forgot to ask Paul too…did you catch the other song I snuck in there? Some great musicians on that piece of music….Hoping you have a great day, Caroline! ➡️🙋🏻

      • I did not catch the other song but I bet Paul, Steve or someone else did.
        Have a great day, yourself.

      • LOL! How’d I know? I didn’t even have to look! And I was thinking to say it to you too😉..But when I saw you didn’t mention it in your post, I knew you didn’t pick up on the link either. Tks, G, but this is classic, and my intention was to dissociate from the TV show (even tho this morning before I left for Church, I ended up watching an entire episode on YouTube)! 😉 I guess I’m just usually not this subtle! 😂😂 🙋🏻

      • Now I get it. I hadn’t clicked on your route 66 link, Angela. Enjoyed your song link very much and also Steve’s to a show I have a faint recollection of.

        • LOL! That’s quite alright, Caroline. As I just told Steve, I’m not known for my subtlety, and I just thought I’d throw it in for a little diversion. The puzzle theme just seemed a little uh…unexciting?..(the “theme”, not the puzzle and/or the graphics-I mean I tried to get into the Laying Pram, but let’s be honest here..😉.) Anyway, I’m chuckling because I guess you all figured I was just giving you one more “boring” Wikipedia article! 😂😂 And hats off to Mr Cole. He had magic fingers to go with that UNFORGETTABLE voice! 🙋🏻

  8. Angela. You started this, so away we go! The power OUTAGE at the cottage left Angela looking for her SANDAL. Only guided by the WARMTH of the fireplace and the SUGARY smell of the Honeysuckle coming from the open window, She still had to FORAGE through the dark being careful not to stub or INFECT her sore big toe.STRAIGHT FORWARD she went, undaunted she was and found that damn sandal by lighting a candle. That last part sounded like Dr. Seuss. Sonny.

    • ROTFL! Whoa there, Cowboy! You’ve definitely taken this to a whole new level! Very well played, Sir! 👏🏻👏🏻 I think you had me at Honeysuckle! 😂 The only part you left out is when I’d start cursing if I did actually stub my toe! And while I do harbor the slightest bit of fear that I may have created a monster…I’m STILL not taking the rap for this! I’m a Catholic…I’m already carrying enough guilt to choke a horse! 😉 So, again…
I’ll give you your props, you’ve done very well…
But you’ve made the choice here…far as I can tell…
Your prose does impress me…more than you may think
But with anymore blame I’ll be driven to drink! ….
Oh wait, it’s 3:30 already? Oh, no problem then. Set ’em up! Here’s to you, Sonny! 🥃🥃Have a good one! 😉🙋🏻

      • Angela
It was a lot of fun making my story line around you. Now that I know you swear and drink, I’ll have to work that in sometime. Until tomorrow, have a nice evening.
        All the best.Sonny.

        • LOL! Sonny…it was more fun reading it! I really enjoyed it…And if I wasn’t having so much trouble getting this ^¥]:,#% wine bottle open, I’d tell you what I liked best…😉 Have a great night, 🙋🏻Sonny!

  9. From Andrew Baggarly in The Athletic:

“Giants manager Bruce Bochy tilted back in his chair, glanced at his all-black uniform and found enough clearance to lower his voice from its usual baritone.
“Down, down, down that burning ring of fire,” Bochy sang.
Bochy was asked if he’d ever worn black baseball pants before.
“Well, I’m going to go to church in ‘em tomorrow,” he said.” (Because they beat the A’s) 😂

    • The only good thing about this entire Players Weekend so far was seeing Tommy sitting in the stands. ⚾️🤦🏻‍♀️
