Good Morning, Everyone! πŸ‘NARC NARC..WHO’S THERE?πŸ‘

🎢You’re so VAIN…You probably think this song is ABOUT YOU...You’re so VAINI’ll bet you think this song is ABOUT YOU…Don’t you?Don’t you? 🎢You’re So Vain” – Carly Simon 1972

πŸ‘ An ego is a funny thing…something we all possess,
The catch being there’s those who have much more than all the rest…
You’ll hear things SPOKEN highly of people now and then,
A MOVIE star, a diplomat…or perhaps just a friend.
Like writing in ITALIC, as pretty as it looks,
It may be hard to deal with if you’re faced with a whole book…
An EAGLE so majestic is still a bird of prey…
And egos sometimes loom so large they can get in the way.
But put two heads together, a self-indulgent pair?
And soon you’ll find you’re dealing with a bit too much to bear…
They’ll praise themselves so freely, together they’ll revel,
Narcissistic egomaniacs on the SAME “I” LEVEL! πŸ‘

Before we get into today’s fun and games, I think it best if we mention yesterday’s borderline imbroglio. By the time the day ended, almost 950 of you had checked in to tell us that HIATUS had you counting your stressings. A masterful anagram, and not the most common of words, it proved to be quite the stumper. But the odd thing is, it wasn’t new to Jumble play. I took a BREAK y’day, and did some RESEARCH, and found that it goes way back to 2010, and was seen in 2016, 17, and twice in 2018, the last time being 06/17. And while it may have tripped a few of us up each of those times, it was nothing compared to yesterday. Why it caused so much conFUSION this time around? Who’s to know. But we weren’t doing the poll back then, so there’s no way to gauge the numbers. It may just be one of those words that when scrambled takes on a life of it’s own! I blame the “H”. I think H words just aren’t all that user friendly. Perhaps we sHould do an EXPERIMENT, just to see. Anyway, with it stealing the spotlight, not much attention was paid to SPONGY, which made its’ Jumble debut, and didn’t even garner 40 votes on the old “Dissector Scale“. Just one of those things, I guess. Oh…And another one of those things? The solve. We heard it all. The Quotation Trepidation“, the ambiguity, the poor wording, the bad pun, the $&/#@...the TESTING your patience… It’s been a long time since a puzzle has created this much of an uproar, leaving so many readers with a FAILED conclusion. And making matters a little worse, both Mike and I were on a little HIATUS of our own, which kind of left you all high and SIGH…Well, let’s just put it all behind us, chalk it up to David’s prowess, and end our work week on a happier note. Hopefully today’s words will LEVEL the playing field, and have us all seeing I to I with David‘s creativity…

Ok…So, today it looks like our Word Guru has once again SPOKEN anew – I’m not finding it in the Archives. But our other three words have appeared before, although not all that recently. ITALIC was written here back on 01/30/14, while MOVIE was shown on 07/16/16, and the EAGLE landed on 11/29/16. Stumpers? Well let’s just say ALGAE was SPOKEN aloud more than once this morning…And now that things are pretty WELL in order? Fasten your seat belts…here EGO

Our cartoon today brings us to a local business, “BREW-HA-HA“, where Coffee and refreshments are served all day, and at night stand-up comedians take center stage. (Ok, so no…it doesn’t say that anywhere, but it’s always been a brainchild of mine, so indulge me. I think after yesterday’s “brouhaha”, we could all use a little comic relief)! Anyway, we see four Jumble characters, one silhouetted at back. Our two main NARCISSISTS, WILL-I-AM DeGREATEST, and his co-worker IMA GREAT-ONETOO, (nΓ©e Great, she married into the Onetoo Family), are seen going Toe-(much)-to-Toe-(much), EYE-to-EYE. Overheard singing their own praises, their duet is accompanied by the blowing of their own horns. It’s a regular syHIMphony. (But let’s hope Ima’s not reading this, or we’d have to call it a syHERphony…and we’ve already had enough ambiguity yesterday)! Anyway, as would be expected, and as our question is asking…they get along so well, because they’re at the SAME “I” LEVEL! Well, Eye-ll be darned…Good one, David…Eye’d expect nothing less!

Ok, “I” candy…There really isn’t all that much hidden detail…It’s a pretty MEnimal panel. Will is dressed in a gray sports jacket to match his shoes, with a black tie to match his pants. Ima is dressed in today’s ubiquitous red power jacket, a definite sign of the WHINES, with a black skirt. They’re both holding what I’m sure must be Latte GRANDES, you know the coffees with that EXTRA BIG SHOT. And the gentleman sitting at the counter, sipping coffee, (as is the silhouetted character), is dressed in a green shirt and Kangol type cap. A large urn sits at right atop the counter. But there is something WORTH reporting. There’s a price list at top left. Coffee-$5, Tea-$3, Water-$2. And half hidden are the words: Muffins and Scones, $4 each. A little STEEP, right? And, that’s pretty much it, to a TEA. So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And my advice is to try to avoid a relationship with a Narcissist as best you can…for religious reasons. They’ll always think that they’re God…and you definitely won’t. I rest my case! πŸ‘ πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. As I was walking to the theater midmorning, I heard a voice “Jamu, Jamu, hey Jay!” I knew the voice – a long-time friend since we were boys. “Yo, Matt, what’s going on?” “Not much, you?” Going to see the movie “l Aquila e atterata” I replied. “The Armstrong tribute? It’s foreign – no English spoken” “I can read the captions” “None” he said, “besides, you don’t read italic” ” you mean Italian”. “Yeah, whatever” Gotta run, bye! “Later, Jay” As I kept walking, mulling over what he’d said, I decided on brunch instead. Sunny? 80Β°s? HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!

  2. Good morning. It was actually fun to see how many gripes there were about yesterday’s cartoon answer. I’ll give the guys a pass because you can’t be perfect every time. Although like I use to tell my wife “I’m not Perfect”but just like Ivory soap,I’m 99and 44/00 % perfect. Almost, but just a little off. I know a couple of bocce players that believe they are the greatest and there is extra joy when you beat them. Sorry,I got off course here. Today’s words were a breeze but I gave in on the cartoon answer. I decided to take the express route and save some aggravation and look up the answer. Good thing I did because I would never had gotten it. Shout out to Angela, loved your song choice and use of the words. Thanks for the info on when we had the words last. I would have thought Italic was a 1st but I see it wasn’t. For some reason it hit me within 15 seconds. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Paul! It’s so funny that you’re talking about being perfect, with our puzzle dealing with Super Egos! And I know it wasn’t your intention either…You’re such a breath of fresh air! But for what it’s worth? You’re Ivory Soap in my book too, Brooklyn. And there’s still time on the clock! πŸ˜‰ Today’s answer? Remains to be seen…Thanks for the Shout Out, and for the record, ITALIC may very well have been used more recently than 2014, but I saw that one, and I just took that ball and ran with it. I’ll LEVEL with you…Too much research…I needed a BREAK! Anyway, I hope you have a great day out on the Court…Here’s to beating ’em all! πŸ·πŸ‘πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. Golfers all over the world have SPOKEN about and wondered why a MOVIE- about the duffer who made an EAGLE on the 18th hole to win a national tournament- hasn’t been produced even if the subtitles included ITALIC printing. I’m not real confident with this one, Angela..

I went with Golfing too…not my sentence, but with my poem…I’ll post it after this. And as far as confidence? IMO? You CERTAINly do a great job! πŸ†πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Chuck…Here’s what I came up with…We’re on the SAME I LEVEL with the golf! πŸŒβ›³οΈπŸ™‹πŸ»

Β° Ever since he saw that MOVIE about the bald EAGLE, he felt like he was on the SAME I LEVEL as the producers, and he wanted to read the book…but with his poor eyesight, the ITALIC print would never do, so he was searching for a SPOKEN word one…

Β° She’d SPOKEN to him once or twice, he’d set her heart a flutter…
She watched him score an EAGLE, while she was just a putter.
She thought she’d ask him for a date, perhaps they’d catch a MOVIE,
He made her feel so young again…like back when things were groovy…
His swing had certain flourish, like ITALIC print so fine…
She definitely could see herself with him…sharing some wine.
Determined to hook up with him, the dark and handsome devil…
She signed up for some lessons to achieve his SAME I LEVEL

    • Jamu…you’re too funny Here’s how it works. David does the words and the solution, Jeff the drawing and most times all the dialogue. We get to play the game. It’s a game…If it causes a rant of any kind, then where’s the fun? πŸ€”πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Angela – I understand. Today I saw the Place for the “I” and missed. I thought maybe it was a long word with “I” in the middle, then three, with all being a self reference. Me, I, myself or – ????, I, all me. Wierd and way off, huh? They provide the test, I pass or fail. Today, I failed.
