TRIGYT – GRITTY

RUVEDO – DEVOUR

CARTOON ANSWER:  WHEN THEIR BRAND-NEW HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM BROKE AGAIN, HE – – –

ANN   EE   GRT   DEV   =   VENTED ANGER

Good Morning, Everyone!          🌞💨HOT UNDER THE…DOLLAR?💨🌞

🎶Cause you’re HOT then you’re COLD…You’re yes then you’re no…You’re in and you’re out…You’re up and you’re down…You’re wrong when it’s right…It’s black and it’s white…We fight, we break up…We kiss, we make up…🎶 “Hot N Cold” – Katy Perry 2008  https://tinyurl.com/y68q4djl

🌞💨 A man who works with heat and cold, perhaps part of a crew,
Deals with a lot of GRITTY hands and problems that ENSUE
A faulty heating system can cause tempers to get hot,
This couple we see here today…are part of just that lot.
Their contract they seem ready to ANNUL in pure disgust
Instead of heat they’re getting cold air and probably dust.
With costs the way they are today, the system did DEVOUR
A good part of their savings…and the heat don’t last an hour?
The dialogue just says it all..the wrath of him and her…
HVAC needs to alleviate this couples’ VENTED ANGER.💨🌞

While ENSUE surprisingly couldn’t be found in the listings we keep, our other three words have been repeated 4 and 5 times going back to 2015. GRITTY is the most recent, having last been seen as TRIYGT, on September 16th,’18, and ANNUL, last appearing on December 22nd,’17, as NANLU, brings it in as our oldest. And while most of the Early Birds were no big FAN of DEVOUR, they FLUE through the rest of our words…

Our cartoon today brings us into the home of a couple having problems with their new HEATING and COOLING system. Our male character, very HOT under the collar, is overheard speaking to the HVAC Company for the second time this week. And that’s so not COOL…Well, in a way it is…Expecting the HEAT to be running, we hear our female character saying that what they’re getting through the VENT instead is blasts of cold air. And with it being so cold outside, we can see that they’re angry, and that this is SEERious business…So, in answer to our question…What did our guy do? He VENTED ANGER...Good one, David…Very COOL

Eye candy. Our woman is kneeling by the gray REGISTER VENT on beige carpeting, before a large picture window. The tiny adjustable lever can be seen on the VENT. Nice detail, Jeff. She’s dressed in a blue University of Michigan Sweatshirt and black pants, while our guy is in the same colors, but with reversed clothing. She’s wearing blue fleece-lined slippers. And outside the window, is the cutest snowman…wearing a woolen slouch hat with a tiny “M” for Michigan logo on its brim. Now how COOL is that? Another great detail, Jeff. So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone. And keep in mind…When purchasing a new HVAC System…do the homework. FILTER out the fly-by-night offers, and make sure whatever company you do choose is reliable…with all their DUCTS in a row! 🌞💨🙋🏻

  1. Good morning. Breezed through the words today and when double checking I find that Devour was different than what I had. I was surprised but that was my fault for not taking longer to be sure I had them right. Once the letters were put down and really looking at the cartoon the answer came into view. Angela, after finishing I’ll check out the song. Don’t think I know that one. Nice job on the use of words and overall post. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. The guys had some trouble with Devour too…Tricky anagram. Thanks for the Shout Out, and I’m thinking you may not like the music that much. We shall see. These winds are brutal, right? 😱 Stay safe. 🙋🏻

      • Angela you do know me. I listened to the whole song. Didn’t dislike it but would not be one that I would play on my own. The video was interesting. Since my daughterinlaw couldn’t fix my problem I decided to ask my wife’s best friend to ask her husband to fix my problem since he was the one that connected me with jumble to begin with.

        • Hey Paul. LOL…Yes, I guess I do know you. She’s ok, Katy Perry, but I don’t own anything of hers. Not that I dislike like her, just that she doesn’t appeal to me “long term”. But I just figured it’d be nice to play a little something for the younger audience. You know it’s funny…I like all kinds of music, but I sort of do favor the music that was before I was born, mainly what was my Fathers music, the standards, do wop, etc. And my nephews pointed out to me that I don’t really play the more recent stuff, although I do share an appreciation of it with them. So I ‘m thinking that I might change it up a bit. MIGHT being the key word! 😉 LOL…Anyway, I hope Marie’s husband can solve the problem for you, I wish I could be of more help. I got my fingers crossed…🙋🏻

  2. The GRITTY teenager decided to DEVOUR his pride and ANNUL his recent engagement because he was so unsure as to what might ENSUE after marriage.

    • Good Morning, Chuck. 👏🏻👏🏻 Very well done. Great angle. I LOL’ed because I was going that way with my poem…but I scraped it…too personal! 😂 Winds are very, very bad here. Hope all is well by you. 💨💨🙋🏻

    • Here you go, Chuck. I really “pushed the envelope” with the last one, but I couldn’t resist’ 😉🙋🏻

° Having discussed it, and VENTED ANGER, they resigned themselves to the fact that once the Open House started, all kinds of nonsense would ENSUE, and they’d need to ANNUL any hopes of decorum, since the GRITTY neighbors would definitely DEVOUR anything not nailed down…

° The Play, “VENTED ANGER” was raw and GRITTY, and in order to ANNUL the audience of any thoughts that happiness might ENSUE, they kept the dialogue sharp and biting…and hoped to not only “chew the scenery” but to DEVOUR it.

° He made a sign that read “ANNUL a one bites the dust”…and hoped to DEVOUR the competition at the Pun Fest, but submissions of “ENSUE it goes”, and “GRITTY to the nunnery” seemed to be garnering more attention…and he sat and quietly VENTED ANGER…

        • LOL! Truth be told, Chuck? I have no idea. It’s a little scary what goes on in my mind!! I sometimes surprise myself! 😂 Thank you, I’m happy to give you a CHUCKle! Hope you’re doing ok with these winds…It seems as bad as I remember Sandy being…and there’s been no respite…constant gusts…Mother Nature sure ain’t foolin’ today! Stay safe and warm! 🙋🏻

    • Ah…Look at that. And it “works” too. But RANGE of what? Motion? Function? Home on the? …Hmm..Maybe it really “doesn’t work” after all…😂😂 Good Morning, Clay. Hope all is well. 😉🙋🏻

  3. Anagrams came quickly as did anger followed by vented in the final solution. The last remnants of ice from our Jan 14 storm finally disappeared over Sat night, but with the Mon morning 10 degrees, the Sat rain puddles refroze this morning, with the March lion on the weekend horizon.

    • Good Afternoon, Professor. Not to worry, I knew it was you. I agree, it was a pretty easy puzzle today. This weather! It’s got us all on our toes! Be careful and stay safe, Prof. Have a good one! 💨🙋🏻

  4. I missed the answer because I had “UNSEE” instead of “ENSUE”. I looked it up and “UNSEE” is indeed a word. Has this ever happened before?

    • Hi Denny, Good Afternoon. How’ve you been? Long time no SEE…
You know, I never even noticed that this morning. Unsee IS a word, although we don’t hear it spoken that often, and my Spell Check/Auto Correct here on my iPad is giving me a hard time getting past it…it’s flagging it as incorrect…How odd. Has it happened before? You know, I’m not sure. I know there’s been some discussion about it, but whether or not it’s been proven in a daily puzzle, I can’t say for sure. I know Jeff sometimes reads through our blog, but I’m not really sure if David does. (I seem to be unsure of a lot today, huh)! 😂 All I can say, is..You threw it out there now, so hopefully it won’t go UNSEEn…and maybe David will get back to us. Kudos 👏🏻👏🏻 on the catch, good eye..And here’s 🍷to hoping you’re having a good day! 🙋🏻

      • Thank you, Sweet Lady, for your response! And I am doing well, thank you! Gettin’ down with the jumbles! I shall try to stop by more often if only to say “HI” !

        • Hey Denny…You’re very welcome! It’s really nice to see you again. And yes, do stop by more often, I always enjoyed your input. Too bad we didn’t hear from David…but that’s one busy man. He’s always doing so much with his Foundation. But you never know..we may hear something eventually. Hope you’re enjoying your day, Denny. Stay well! 🙋🏻

  5. I was thinking UNSEE for the second word also. My Collegiate dictionary doesn’t list unsee as a word. The only way I remember it is in the phrase, “You can’t unsee that”, which I would guess is fairly recent.
I remember one time the Jumble answer was “DESK DRAWER”, and I had “DESK REWARD”.
REWARD is DRAWER backwards, so it has happened before.

    • Hi Mike. If you just Google it, it comes up with It’s definition from Mirriam -Webster. I think what you’re referring to though would be somewhat different. I don’t remember the particular puzzle you’re talking about, but as an answer, I’m sure the word Reward didn’t make sense in regards to the cartoon. So it might be an “option” but not a probability. This thing with ENSUE though…it’s up there by itself, so it’s more than an option I would think.IDK! …Good call on seeing it as UNSEE also. 🤔🙋🏻

    • Hey Mike. Great memory.👏🏻👏🏻 I found it. July of last year. Puzzle speaking about Jeff’s work area. And you mentioned it that day too! Said that Reward could be the second word, but that it would make no sense…Good call that day too! 😘🙋🏻
