CARTOON ANSWER: HIS ATTEMPT TO GIVE UP CIGARETTES – – –
UET WMN KEN POIS = WENT UP IN SMOKE
Good Morning, Everyone! π¬ AIR YOU HAVE IT π¬
πΆ You said you love me…Oh I was so blind, you had my world spinning round and round…You said I was your heart and soul desire…There ain’t NO SMOKE without fire…πΆ “No Smoke” – Queensberry 2008 https://tinyurl.com/yaazw7rp
π¬ I’m wondering just where he went to light that cigarette,
By staying indoors did he think he wouldn’t have regret?
The window doesn’t always help, the wind will blow both ways,
And this guys’ WOMAN now’s become a little bit enraged…
The KITTEN that she might have been has lost her pretty POLISH,
She’s angry at him and he had to know he’d be admonished..
I think he’ll now be treated as a GUEST when night draws near,
And by that I mean he might not be in the bed they share…
Her look, her words, severity looms…it’s certainly no joke,
It looks to me like he and she for sure WENT UP IN SMOKE…π¬
Before I go any further, I want to apologize to all my sisters out there for referring to our WOMAN as a KITTEN. Trust me, I was gritting my teeth. I had this faint image of an Ann Margaret type character, in boots and wielding a whip…(Not there’s anything wrong with that, but that’s a story for another time and placeπ)…I hope you all realize that I had to take poetic license in order to work the word into the rhyme, and it was either that or having the smoke asphyxiate a defenseless animal. And since I don’t want an issue with the ASPCA, I had to slight us women. I appreciate your understanding. Ok…Strange as this may seem, especially in LIGHT of all this, I’m not finding WOMAN in the Archives. That can’t be possible can it? I’m going to look again later when I’m not so pressed for time. Our other words, Sweet Repeats a few times over, with KITTEN appearing for the 7th time, (it figures, right)?…and anagrammed exactly as it was three times before, going back to 2016. It’s also our most recent word, and had previously showed up twice, 9 days apart last July. None of the words posed any problems, though…they were all a breeze…
Speaking of breeze, we see one dominant in our cartoon today. A breeze blowing smoke-filled air back into the home of our featured couple. He’s sneaking a smoke, while she catches him trying to hide it. And our dialogue tells us that this isn’t their first rodeo either, since we hear her saying…”You said you quit”. Uh oh… https://tinyurl.com/ycktvbce And it’s obvious that his previous attempts to kick the habit…WENT UP IN SMOKE! Good one, David…AIR YE! AIR YE!
Eye candy? A mint would come in handy…but we’ll make do with what we have…The entire panel is brushed in light purple. He sports a mustache and a soul patch, and is dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt. She’s in black tights and a green Tee. The air from the opened window is wafting the smoke upward. It seems like he may be in an attached garage, since she is able to smell the evidence, and he looks to be sitting on a corrugated cardboard crate, since it’s showing signs of being creased by his weight. A light switch turned to the ON position is visible on the wall, and through the opened window we can see the blue of daylight. I just can’t place where we are though, so I’m just going to make a judgement call…My thought? This guy’s definitely in the Doghouse…So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone…and be careful not to BLOW a good thing! π¬ππ»
A WOMAN once said to me if youβd like me to be your GUEST,
stop smoking in your house,
As that is my request.
And while youβre at it clean the KITTEN litter,
if you expect me to be a Twitter.
Donβt stop right there
as your furniture needs some POLISH
and when youβre done announce with a flair, welcome to my house
Iβve finally cleared the air!
Thatβs all Iβve got – as an erstwhile bachelor some years back, I learned a spiffy house was the way to a womanβs heart. Time to clean the kitchen. Have a good day and I am not a poet – haha
LOL! Not a poet? Well you could have fooled me! ππ»ππ» Good Morning, Jim! Well done! Kudos! And cleverly funny! Not to mention getting all of today’s words in there! And funny you’re saying this just now…As we speak, I’m in the midst of a conversation with one of my out-of-town Early Birds, who seems to endlessly catch colds. And I asked him the last time he dusted and vacuumed…I wish I wasn’t so far from him, I’d be more than happy to Spring clean his house…(which I fear might just be the last time it was properly done…top to bottom)! LOL…
So, did it last? The relationship with the woman who read you the riot act? π I’m sure we all appreciate a spiffy house though…male or female…Enjoy the kitchen detail, Jim, and have a great day! You’ve definitely brightened up my morning! π¬ππ»
Angela–
I was really wondering what the guy was sitting on, so I’m glad you said it was a cardboard crate. It must be pretty strong to support his weight. The puzzle was another blind solve, and none of the clue words took very long.
Hi Mike. Good Morning! Tell you the truth, it’s just my guess. I’m figuring he’s in a garage, where there’s storage boxes, and if you look to the right of his foot, there’s another such box. I should have said “corrugated ” cardboard box. In fact I thought I did, it’s what was in my head this morning. I’m going to edit the post to include the word. I could be wrong, but I think that’s what it is. As for supporting his weight, he doesn’t look like that big a man, and I think if the box was full, he’d only be making the creases we see. And corrugated cardboard is sturdy…(NOTE: Cardboard typically refers to a thick paper stock or heavy paper-pulp. You can see this type of material used for cereal boxes or greeting cards. … Corrugated is made up of three layers of paper that includes an inside liner, an outside liner, and fluting with a ruffled shape, which runs in between the two).,So, I rest my CASE! ππ I like your looking for the details…and I’m really liking how more and more of us are scrutinizing the cartoons more closely for the little nuances Jeff throws in..He really does paint a picture. As for the word end of it today, I’m with you…the answer was a given, and the words easy old favorites. And of course, clever as always! Hope your days going well, Mike! π¬ππ»
Mike..I failed to mention that the entire panel is brushed in a light purple, which includes covering the box. So there’s no actual brownish color defining it. I think I’m going to edit the background coloring into the post too.π¨ππ»
The solution, went up in smoke, was pretty much a blind solve. The anagrams were all a snap, with even polish coming quickly. We’re home for a change on the weekend, with an upcoming birthday trip for a granddaughter on next Thursday instead of a weekend trip.
Good Morning, Professor! Yes, we were given a gift today, it was all an easy go…Glad you’re getting some down time, you deserve it! Have a great day, Chuck! π¬ππ»
Good morning. This was a fine Monday Jumble for a Saturday. There was no hiccup in this puzzle whatsoever. Took me longer to fix my coffee but hey,I’m not complaining because the hammer is poised to fall. The cartoon answer was a complete blind solve. Just had to make sure by putting down the letters. Another clever pun for the boys. Nice job Jim on the use of the words. It’s amazing what we guys will do for female company. That’s why I’ve always said the women let us think it’s a mans world, but I know better. Angela,I listened to your song choice first and admit I’ve never heard it. I liked it but my first thought was Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by the Platters. Think I’d prefer the slow dance for patching things up than your choice. Would be hoping for a better outcome. Thanks for another good post. Until tomorrow stay well.
Good Morning, Brooklyn. Boy, is my face red! Of course…the perfect song, and it eluded me! But perfect twofold…Great slow dance recording…maybe one of the best. But also, it’s a break up song. She leaves him…So maybe too perfect, huh? I can’t believe I missed it though. I absolutely adore this song, even though it makes me cry every time out…Memories. Of two true loves..My Dad, (He used to pay this record constantly), and one that got away…Sigh…π
Anyway, I applaud ππ»ππ» you. You done good..Really good! And yep, you’re right, easy, breezy puzzle. And right again…We do make you guys think you’re controlling the car, huh? πBut admit it, Brooklyn…It’s quite a ride! π Only place you’re wrong today? Thinking that hammer’s gonna fall…Have faith, Bro..it’s not gonna be! Thanks for the Shout Outs, and no need to thank me…You know it’s my pleasure. Have a great day, Brooklyn…and for you…Here’s the Platters. π I’ll take a pass for now though. …I’m too busy for waterworks this early in the day…β€οΈππ»

I listened to that too before posting. I just don’t know how to do what you do so well. Maybe someday one of my kids will show me how to list it. I loved dancing to it with my wife.
Thanks for the Shout Out Paul, but it’s no big deal really. I’ve been writing for years, it just comes naturally. Now, if this was Math!!!! π±π±π±, And I agree, ask one of the kids to show you about the links, it’s not hard. And I’m so glad you listened to it before. It really is an insanely beautiful song, and I danced to it a few weeks ago too, at a wedding…And yep, cried in public! Can’t take me anywhere! πππ»
Brooklyn, I’m really juggling here, but I gotta make you laugh…When I was very little, and my Father would play this, I remember telling Him that it made me think of Church..Church music..And He said…”You might have something there..You women bring us all to our knees”!! ππ Of course I had no idea what He meant at the time…but later on when I understood? I laughed my b–t off! The Man definitely had a way with words..and He could always make me laugh! β€οΈπ Have a good one, Brooklyn! ππ»
Hi all – Easy one today. The double letter trick showed KITTEN and putting SH together gave POLISH. I saw GUST because of the weather (rain off and on for the next 5 days, and a wind advisory until 4 PM today) before realizing it was GUEST.
The POLISH WOMAN was the GUEST of honor at the Warsaw KITTEN adoption fair.
I agree Angela, you and Mike have inspired me to look more closely at the details and itβs added greatly to my enjoyment of the Jumble, so thanks!
Have a great Saturday everyone while I hunker down from the storm with football and hockey on TV probably.
π΅βSmoke smoke smoke that cigarette
Puff puff puff, and if you smoke yourself to death
Tell St Peter at the Golden Gate
That you hate to make him wait
But you just gotta have another cigaretteβπ΅
I know this song from Jimmy Dean, but there are many other versions.
Nice job Steve. Another great song. If you get a chance Angela fix my grammar up a bit. Somehow some of the words disappeared.
Paul, I looked your stuff over, and it looked like just one little word was missing. I added it in. Take another look at it and let me know if you still think anything needs tweaking, ok? ππ»
Thank you, Paul! Hereβs one more inspired by your sentence to Angela – π΅βDo do that Voodoo that you do so well…βπ΅ ππ»ββοΈ
Are you calling me a πΆWitchy WomanπΆ? πππ»
I’m laughing, because my friend just now sent me a killer sentence using Polish as a nationality, and I had to remind him that we can’t go that route. You know proper names aren’t ever used..He said…”We’re not doing the Jumble here…”! LOL..He’s right..it was just me and him! This is a creative endeavor, G, but it won’t make it past the judges panel! I came up with a few myself utilizing it in that way, but they can’t count. I’ll show you what I came up with that is usable. The words don’t afford one much of a creative take..BTW? .I had a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich a while ago…Killer on the salt, but oh soooo good! πππ»
Hereβs a nice note:
βDean’s sketches (On The Jimmy Dean Show) included Rowlf the Dog, one of Jim Henson’s Muppets. Henson was so grateful for this break that he offered Dean a 40% interest in his production company, but Dean declined on the basis that he did nothing to truly earn it and Henson deserved all the rewards for his own work. For the rest of his life, Dean made it clear that he never regretted this decision.β
I don’t think I remember the show, I’m going to check it out. But rumor has it that he was a true Southern Gentleman, and very well respected in the business. He sure had a voice that dripped honey..ππ»
G, The thread’s thrown off a little…But here’s the ones I came up,with…ππ»
The WOMAN, having all the refinement and POLISH required, made a wonderful dinner GUEST…except for bringing that KITTEN.
When he spotted the shedding KITTEN, he wondered if it would be a welcome GUEST in his home; since the WOMAN he was living with wasn’t particularly fond of cats, and besides, she was the one who did all the Spit and POLISH work….
He had a feeling that the smell of the POLISH wasn’t going to be a welcome GUEST to the KITTENs nose…like the perfume that WOMAN was wearing the other day…
They were drinking, when he remarked that a WOMAN was like a KITTEN…always training to use her claws…and that’s when she told him that he’d no longer be a GUEST in her home…and POLISHed off the rest of the bottle herself…
πππ»ββοΈ
FYI READERS: I WENT BACK TO CHECK THROUGH EVERYTHING WE HAVE…And sure enough..no WOMAN to be found in the Archives! How that’s possible, IDK…You’d think it would have been used before, but nope, it wasn’t. I know I for one, am very surprised…π€ So…Another new word! WOMAN! And not a moment too soon!!! πππ»ππ»
I keep getting Jan. 5 answers. It never changes to give answers for following days.
Hi Georgine…I have no idea why that’s happening. But if you scroll up to the top on this page that we’re on now, at the top right hand side, below the title, you’ll see the words..”Previous and Next” Hitting Next will allow you to go forward, one day at a time. I hope it helps…(And off subject…I think you have a beautiful name)! Have a great day! ππ»
