While a couple of the birds seem ready for the challenge, another looks a little less convinced by the motivational speech. When it comes to laying eggs, even the best pep talk can’t rush Mother Nature.

The final answer was a 9-letter anagram that solved into a 3 + 4 + 2 layout. Our first puzzle of the workweek didn’t stay scrambled for long. With the cartoon dialogue encouraging the hens to lay eggs, while never actually saying the word EGG, it felt like it had to be hiding in the answer somewhere. Once all four clue words were cracked, the double Gs let me know my hunch was correct, and with EGG out of the way, THEM and ON brought this one to a close.
