CARTOON ANSWER:

“NO” IT ALL
WELCOME BACK, PUZZLE PLAYERS!

💼 OFFICE ORACLE

Today’s cartoon takes us into a conference room, where a team is presenting fresh ideas during a product development meeting. Unfortunately, their boss seems determined to shoot down every suggestion that doesn’t come from his own imagination, leaving the rest of the group wondering why they even bothered to prepare. As one proposal after another gets dismissed, the mood around the table shifts from hopeful to defeated. At that conference table, there seems to be room for only one expert.

🔎 Jumble Jeff’s Jems

➤ THE CEO

The boss is wearing a dark turtleneck sweater and gives a dramatic thumbs-down with his left hand, complete with motion lines, while his right hand is turned palm-up as if asking, “Why are you even bringing this to my attention?” He’s bald and sports a neatly trimmed goatee.

➤ THE PRESENTATION

The presentation screen is labeled CleanCorp Worldwide and shows an unusual product idea: cookies with toothpaste in the middle.

➤ THE CONFERENCE ROOM

Three employees sit around the conference table watching the presentation. One holds a sheet showing what appears to be a hot beverage with toothpaste being added to it. On the table are two tubes of toothpaste. One stands upright while the other is a classic squeeze tube, and both have cheerful smiling faces printed on them.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was a 7-letter anagram that solved into a “2” + 2 + 3 layout. For such a short answer, this one had me spinning my wheels for a while. The letters could spell a multitude of different words, so latching on to the correct one to get things rolling was the hardest part. I figured the two Ls and the A would be a safe bet for ALL, and with those removed, NO was obvious thanks to the boss’s animated thumbs-down gesture, leaving IT for the finish. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our biggest nudges were the CEO’s exaggerated thumbs-down giving us NO, while his constant rejection of every idea except his own painted the picture of someone acting like a KNOW-IT-ALL.

📣 Click-To-Reveal Facts*: About KNOW-IT-ALLS

➤ Do know-it-alls always know more than everyone else?
Not necessarily. People who come across as know-it-alls often sound very confident, but confidence and accuracy aren’t the same thing. Someone who admits they don’t know something may actually have the better grasp of the subject.
SOURCE
➤ Why do some people act like know-it-alls?
Psychologists say it can be driven by a desire to feel respected, capable, or in control. In some cases, acting certain can hide insecurity rather than genuine expertise.
SOURCE
➤ Can overconfidence make people wrong more often?
Yes. Studies have found that people who are overly confident are often less likely to question themselves, making them more likely to overlook mistakes or ignore useful feedback.
SOURCE
➤ What’s the best way to handle a know-it-all?
Experts generally recommend staying calm, asking thoughtful questions, and avoiding arguments. Letting facts do the talking is usually more effective than trying to win a debate.
SOURCE
➤ Can anyone become a know-it-all?
Absolutely. Most people have moments when they become overly certain about a topic they care about. Staying curious and being willing to change your mind helps keep that tendency in check.
