🦅 LOFTY OPINIONS

Today’s cartoon brings us to a park where a pair of birds flying overhead seem awfully impressed with themselves. As two people stroll along below, one bird wonders how humans can tolerate walking everywhere, while the other practically mocks them for not being able to soar through the sky. Between the smug commentary, the oversized egos, and the confidence that comes with always being high above the crowd, these feathered critics seem pretty convinced they’re perched far above the rest of us.

➤ THE HIGH-FLYERS

The two birds are shown from their higher view in the sky with both wings spread as they pass through the scene. Action lines around them indicate movement.

➤ THE WALKERS BELOW

Two young men are walking below. One is wearing a T-shirt, pants, and sneakers while focusing on his cell phone. Behind him, the second is wearing a baseball hat, T-shirt, and pants while looking upward toward the birds.

➤ THE PARK VIEW

The background shows a park setting with a grassy area in the middle. A squirrel stands in the grass while a tree rises in the background with another bird perched high in the canopy. A pathway, park bench, and shaded row of trees fill out the background scenery.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was a 13-letter anagram that solved into a 4 + 4 + 2 + 3 layout. Reading through the cartoon at first, I didn’t really have a strong feeling about where the final answer might be headed. After getting through the clue words, the layout did most of the heavy lifting. The word YOU was conveniently spelled out, and once those letters were locked in, DOWN showed up next, making the rest of the answer come together naturally based on the visual of the cartoon. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our nudges were the lofty perspective of the birds looking downward while throwing around their oversized opinions about the people below.

🪺 CLICK-TO-REVEAL FACTS*: About Bird Vision

➤ How far can some birds spot prey from the sky?
Eagles can spot rabbits and other small animals from nearly 2 miles away, thanks to eyesight estimated to be four to eight times sharper than a human’s. From high overhead, they can lock onto tiny movements on the ground that most people would never notice from that distance.
SOURCE
➤ Why do birds keep flying into clean windows?
Birds often see reflections of trees and open sky in glass instead of recognizing the surface as a barrier. Researchers estimate that more than 1 billion birds are affected by window collisions each year in the United States alone, making glass one of the biggest human-made dangers birds face.
SOURCE
➤ Can birds see colors humans cannot?
Many birds can see ultraviolet light, which is completely invisible to human eyes. That means feathers, berries, trails, and markings that look ordinary to us may appear dramatically brighter and more detailed to birds moving through the same environment.
