The final answer was a 12-letter anagram that would solve into an 8 + 4 layout. This one took a few minutes to snap together. All I could see at first was an -ING suffix. With it removed, the extra G’s started to stand out. Those letters quickly steered me toward PLUG, and from there the remaining letters made AWAY an easy finish. If this one took a bit, our nudges were the everlasting box of outlets, and the partner’s advice to take them one at a time.
