🍍 SWEET SPOT

Today’s cartoon brings us to a photo shoot where everything is coming into focus. The photographer frames the scene with his fingers, studying a carefully laid-out arrangement of fruit on the table in front of him. A pineapple, a pomegranate, and a cluster of grapes sit patiently in place while the camera hangs ready at his chest. One glance, one adjustment, and he knows he’s nailed it — “a classic still life,” as he puts it. With that kind of focus, nothing was going to throw him off his mark.

➤ FRAMING THE SHOT

The photographer holds his fingers up to shape the scene. On a table in front of him, a pineapple, a pomegranate, and a cluster of grapes are arranged against a backdrop.

➤ CAMERA AT THE READY

A camera hangs from a patterned strap around his neck. He’s dressed in a collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

➤ LIGHTS AND BACKGROUND

Two studio lights stand behind him, aimed directly at the table.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final solve was an 11-letter anagram that would solve into a 5 + 2 + 4 layout. This one was a snap! One glance at the cartoon, and my thought was FRAME OF MIND. After noticing right in the cartoon sentence, the answer was no trouble at all. If this one caused you to shutter, the visual clue was the photographer framing the fruit with his fingers (say that five times fast!), plus the mention of a classic still life in his dialogue.
