  1. Good Morning, Everyone… 🖌️MARGINAL TIME 🖌️

There’s so much involved with today’s Jumble, I’m taking a different SLANT with my WRITE up…And I’ve included a good number of links, should you be interested in the rich history behind it all…

I think at one TIME or another we’ve all been there…Pushed to the EDGE, with too much of a workload, we’ve cried…”That’s the last straw”…But since we’re dealing with a cartoonist and we have those quotation marks? He said…”THAT’S THE LAST “DRAW””! … https://tinyurl.com/ymfcpa5w Brilliant, David!

Featured today is a young Sergio Aragonés, https://tinyurl.com/2jbuuwy8 famed cartoonist for Mad Magazine. https://tinyurl.com/mr3rycar With him might be the publisher, Bill Gaines. https://tinyurl.com/bdzyrbvm Mr Aragonés is known for his featured section in every issue called “A Mad Look At…”, typically featuring 4 or 5 pages of speechless gag strips related to a particular subject. He became famous for these wordless “DRAWN-out dramas” or “MARGINALS” which were inserted into the MARGINS and between panels of the magazine. https://tinyurl.com/bdhhwpzf. If you take a close look you can see some of the handiwork on Sergio’s desk. Also note that the magazine being held up, reads “Spy vs Spy”, https://tinyurl.com/59dzmxt9 the creation of Antonio Prohias. And a rich history exists between the two cartoonists… https://tinyurl.com/5edbh5sc

Jeff’s Gems? …On the top shelf, Aragonés’s GROO … https://tinyurl.com/ykaczsaf …the second shelf, a special edition of the magazine, …the bottom shelf, a bust of Alfred E Neuman, https://tinyurl.com/2dxtcd5m the face of Mad Magazine, with the letters WMW?…”What, me worry?”, his famous catchphrase…and yes, I’ve skipped the third shelf, because even though I recognize the figure, I’m DRAWing a blank as to its name…And I’m too pressed for TIME to search…Please feel free to comment if it rings a bell…

So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And a special tip of the cap to Jeff on this one. Not only is it a wonderful homage to Mr Aragonés, it’s definitely one of his best DRAWings…Amazing details, combined with wit and a whimsical sense of nostalgia…Well done, Jeff…very well done…🖌️🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Yes, a very good drawing indeed…and so nice to visit these puzzles filled with such nostalgia. Wow, MAD magazine is one of my favorites from yesteryear. And SPY vs. SPY a favorite feature. With all that being said, no blind solve this morning, but easily solved anagrams, taking out DRAW…made it pretty easy to find the solution. Hope you all have a few leftovers to chomp on. Nice post, Angela. Terry

  3. Eldest looked like settled minus a ‘T’ but after looking that anagram up, the cartoon was a quick solve, I probably was too stuffed from yesterday’s turkey, stuffing sad all the rest of the trimmings.Chuck.

  4. I thought the second word was tarot, which didn’t give me the right letters for what I knew the answer was. Ironically I have had an aortic dissection.

  5. Like Chuck, I first saw eldest as settled. Blind solve on the cartoon answer which really was a great drawing. Kudos to Jeff as always. Great analysis, Angela. Betty

  6. Hello Friday ! Hope everyone had a fun Turkey day thanksgiving ! We had to wait for our Turkey cause the gravy train it was on was late ! The anagrams were there for me , but like chuck and Betty , I had to study a little harder for it ! The jumble was an old saying that I’m sure we’ve all said before , and hope that we will never say it on a very hard jumble , cause it will never be THE LAST DRAW ! Great thanksgiving yesterday , so our band performed , but we needed someone to carry the beat , so this Turkey said “I’ll do it ! I’ve got my own drumsticks ! Everyone have a great Friday !!!!!!
