🎶 But it’s best of all when we can get together…so you see I really HAVEN’T CHANGED A BIT…🎶 “I Haven’t Changed A Bit” – Slim Dusty & Anne Kirkpatrick 1983 https://tinyurl.com/bdhhfzbf
🧰 To get the full EFFECT of this, some tool knowledge need be,
ADJOIN that with the dialogue…it’s SHAKEN 1-2-3…
The drill should no way THWART you…it surely is the key,
(And too bad that sink’s not OBLONG…be easier for me)…
That leaves us with just IODINE…(ie) element 53,
(It has no place but what the heck…it’s rhyming…let it be)
To sum this up…To drill a hole, and guarantee good fit?
Our guy lucked out…he did it…and HADN’T CHANGED A BIT! 🧰
I enjoy subtle puns…you know the kind that FIT naturally…where you get the HOLE idea without TOOLING around trying to guess what word might be up for grabs…Don’t get me wrong, I love the rePLACEment theory of a play on words, but once in a while, a good, straighforWOOD pun is good for the HOLE…I mean soul….
And that’s what we’re dealing with today. A very clever, shall we say no HOLES barred type of pun. What I mentioned earlier about tools? Well, to HAMMER home the idea, today’s solve is a piece of cake…as long as one knows that a DRILL has different BITS. https://tinyurl.com/rnbrjc58 …I’m not saying that you WOOD be SCREWed by not knowing…but I do believe that by having that little BIT of inFORMATION under your TOOL belt, you’d definitely keep from getting unHINGEd, going NUTS, and avoid throwing in the TOWEL this morning …And speaking of towels…that’s what our guy, BRAD is doing…throwing up a towel ring…. https://tinyurl.com/mrcxueuu …(Note the ring and the hinge on the floor)…And you gotta HAND it to him…he not only SIZEd up the situation by marking his two X’s on the wall, he remembered he had the necessary tool…with the necessary BIT…and he also remembered to don those safety goggles. BRAD definitely knows the DRILL…So, our solve today? The power drill…a Jumble model, BTW…STILL in the box…almost brand NEW?…SAME as when they bought it? …It HADN’T CHANGED A BIT! …And we’ve no monkey WRENCH thrown into our plans today….we’ve definitely NAILED another one!
So…There you have it Folks…Done! Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminded me of a friend of mine who took a job working in a machine shop. He said that in the beginning all he did was DRILL HOLES in metal and BOLT them together… and that at first it was so BORING…but then things TURNED AROUND…and it became RIVETing…I love the guy…but sometimes he can be such a TOOL…🧰🙋🏻♀️

🤦🏻♂️He remembered how SHAKEN he had gotten years ago trying to THWART the large OBLONG IODINE-colored rod, used to ADJOIN the two shelves, from falling…and how the lasting EFFECT of it all HADN’T CHANGED A BIT…🤦🏻♂️
🤷🏻♂️When he was young his cuts and scrapes were always somehow treated,
By his Mom using IODINE… mercurochrome competed…
She swore the two would THWART off germs…but oh what an EFFECT,
They burned like hell and always left his skin looking all flecked…
They would ADJOIN the bandages, the OBLONG and the square,
Inside the family medicine chest…with something marked “Beware”
And til this day he’s SHAKEN somewhat by the thoughts of it…
And can’t believe through all these years it HADN’T CHANGED A BIT…🤷🏻♂️
👍🏻There are some men real handy for sure,
Always tackling the do list du jour…
At the drop of a hat,
They can fix this or that…
Life with these guys is never a bore…👍🏻
🤦🏻♂️Then there’s others who look at a chore,
And are quick to run out of the door…
Sees a hammer and nails?
And a heart starts to flail…
For them there’s not a drop of allure…🤦🏻♂️
🤷🏻♂️Home improvement just a TV show,
To those men who will always say no…
There’s a job to be done,
They’re the first on the run…
And you’re forced to just lay out some dough…🤷🏻♂️
👍🏻But our Brad here he’s taking a shot,
With that drill and the bit that he’s got…
And his wife is all smiles,
(Glad it’s plaster not tiles)…
As she’s watching him choose the right spot…👍🏻
👏🏻👏🏻 Gotta love Brad for working that drill,
And they get to avoid one more bill…
So a tip of the cap,
Wonder what’s next on tap…
Now that Brad’s proven he has the skill! 👏🏻👏🏻
I went to a couple of online sites to do the jumble instead of using the newspaper. They decided to torture me by not including an apostrophe giving the setup to solve as
oooo o ooooooo o ooo
Yes, I saw that. Without the apostrophe, it appeared that the solve began with a 4-letter word and the letter “A”…instead of the 5-letter word HADN’T. The newspapers have the correct printing…Unfortunately it got past online editing. And I can understand your being frustrated…it was the first thing I noticed when I saw the puzzle. TBT, I’m surprised that you’re the first person to mention it…If it’s any consolation, David’s aware that it happened, and he’s addressing it for any future puzzles that he creates with apostrophes. Here’s hoping the rest of your day went well…🍷🙋🏻♀️
This was probably the hardest jumble for a Sunday that I’ve seen ! It really drilled me ! I got all the anagrams except ADJOIN ! The rest were there ! The jumble , to me , was out there ! Not a good one for me on this Sunday ! I’m curious to read the responses! Oh well , everyone have a good Sunday Funday !!!!
I almost got a blind solve….but was eluded in the end. Knew from the start it ended with A BIT. And the first word was surely DIDN’T/HADN’T. And it was past tense ED. I completely forgot that a person CHANGES drill bits. Oh well. All anagrams speedily solved to find the answer. It was a clever Sunday for sure !! See you Monday.
Got all the words. I guessed HADN’T drilled A BIT, but the letters said CHANGED. Overall, pretty easy today.
A clean sweep on a Sunday! Doesn’t usually happen w the multitude of letters.Having gotten the anagrams quickly, I turned to the cartoon and hadn’t was obvious for the first word. Then when bit came to mind for the 3 letter word , the complete cartoon solution was at hand.
Good morning. At first the words looked real hard but then I relaxed and had my first cup of coffee and was able to get the words without too much trouble. No blind solve but once I got the letters down and realized l needed the I in my first word for the last, it became easy to get. Enjoyed this one. Loved your post Angela and your song choice. Until tomorrow take care.
Good Morning, Paul. Tk you. Be well and stay safe out there…🧰🙋🏻♀️
Clever pun this morning. Knew bit would be the last word. I first thought didn’t was the first word but saw changed and realized I needed the n for that word so figured it all out without difficulty. Happy Sunday all!
