Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
👻SO WHO’S GHOSTING THIS PARTY ANYWAY? 👻
🎶 I think we’re ALONE NOW…There DOESN’T SEEM TO BE ANYONE AROUND…I think we’re alone now…The beating of our hearts is the only sound…🎶 “I Think We’re Alone Now” – Tommy James & The Shondells 1967 https://tinyurl.com/24x496tj
👻 While no one’s in a PARKA, they probably brought a chill,
And the TRUSTY guy who’s sitting there? His ease feels slightly ill…
There’s ghosts around who’ll gladly HOIST a drink or two today,
The guy who looks like Patrick Henry offering to pay…
Our guy’s drinking alone we see, yet he can’t help but sense,
Some tension like it’s INNING ninth…tied game…which makes him tense…
The barkeep’s blaming booze for it…but our guy as he sits?
Feels something’s odd…while all the ghosts exclaim…THAT’S THE SPIRIT!👻
Ok…My first thought…THAT’S THE SPIRIT. Let’s face it, Folks…you can SEE RIGHT THROUGH this one…Easy, breezy. My second thought…this TV show that began AIRing last year. Kind of a DEAD ringer. This young couple from NY inherit an old country house, and it comes complete with Ghosts. And a very diversified, motley crew they are, just like the one we see here today. I mean no one’s HAUNTINGly beautiful or anything, but there are quite a few high-SPIRITed SOULS…And it’s named, aptly enough, “Ghosts”. https://tinyurl.com/yc8wj8sr I’m not sure how I came to DRIFT upon it, but I have seen a few episodes. It’s different…well-written, IMO, with witty innuendo-laden dialogue. Yes, some of it is kind of GHOULish, but it’s good to laugh… I’m kind of on the fence about it…it’s not on my “must SEE” list, more like a FLY by night sort of show, yet it is interesting…But I digress…
So…Neighborhood bar, a regular, AL COHOL, supposedly drinking alone. He doesn’t appear three SHEETS to the wind, https://tinyurl.com/yyywnf6x but the barkeep, GINGER ALE, suggests that it may be the case when he says that it feels like they’re not alone. And between the PRESENCE of the three male and two female SPIRITS who’ve been DRAWN to the place…from front, seated: Bonnie WRAITH, a 1920s Flapper, SPOOK Lee, a 1940s WW II GI, Phil SPECTER, a 1700s American Revolution Patriot, Elliot GHOUL, an 1800s Industrialist, and FRAN TASMA, a 1970s flower-child, giving the peace sign…expressing their delight with Phil’s largesse.. https://tinyurl.com/3bmkesyt and the connection with bars serving SPIRITS, https://tinyurl.com/2p9xbrp8 … well, Al may not be SPOOKing out of turn after all…And this solve was another easy SET UP. THAT’S THE SPIRIT! And I’ll DRINK to that!
So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and don’t think I overlooked two of the whimsical little PRESENCE Jeff left for us…Phil SPECTER, with his BATTLE CRY, “Time to live, whether we’re dead or alive” reminiscent of Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty, or give me DEATH”, https://tinyurl.com/3e29ev6p and Bonnie WRAITH, the Flapper ordering a “Bee’s Knees”, https://tinyurl.com/43mjb549 ?…I swear…sometimes you can really DIE laughing! 👻🙋🏻♀️

HSIOT – SRUTYT: New
🍺 On Opening Day, after the 7th INNING stretch had begun, he stood to HOIST his vintage TRUSTY tankard…and spilling beer all over his PARKA, his friend laughed and said…”Yeah…THAT’S THE SPIRIT”! 🍺
⚾️ He was known as a TRUSTY sort, he’d worked the games for years,
He’d walk the stands during each INNING plying peanuts and beers…
He made friends with the regulars, sometimes they’d HOIST a few,
After the game had ended…they’d hang out and have a brew…
And when retirement came ‘round they all bought him a PARKA,
The color of their team of course…maybe a tad shade darker…
They knew that they would miss him, and so had sewed onto it…
His name and on the back..it read the year and “THAT’S THE SPIRIT” ⚾️
Good morning Wednesday hump-day ! Wow ! Todays jumble was a good one , but I felt like the bases were loaded , and 2 outs in the ninth INNING ! I had a few “guess-ideas” that needed a HOIST to complete them ! I was still a little cold , so I put on my PARKA a and got my TRUSTY “look up the answer-hat” and got it ! And THATS THE SPIRIT ! I saw It’s, at, thirst , to no avail ! So the jumble was not a 🎵 Casper , the friendly ghost 🎵 and Angela , I loved your song ! I still listen to mr Tommy James & the shondells ! Everyone have a great Wednesday hump-day !!!!
Tks, Jim. 👻🙋🏻♀️
🤷🏻♂️ Got the feeling that something ain’t right,
As he sits alone drinking tonight…
He feels somebody’s there,
Could it be from the beer?
He’s not sure but it has him a fright! 🤷🏻♂️
🗣Thinks he’s hearing something being said,
And for Al…it’s filling him with dread…
He’s def getting the creeps,
Swears he’s hearing some peeps…
Turns out there is a group of the dead! 🗣
🍺 There’s ghost stories that fill us with fear,
No one thinks though that they might appear…
But for Al on this night,
Though they’re out of his sight…
He’s got reason to cry in his beer! 🍺
👻 They say spirits are known to exist,
Any truth…or just rumor mill grist?
Al’s not sure what to think,
Is it due to the drink…
‘Cause he feels like he’s one in amidst!👻
🍻Happy spirits raising one to life,
Never thinking that they’re causing strife…
Al in ghosts don’t believe,
But he’s fixin’ to leave…
He’ll go home…have the drink with his wife! 🍻
As Angela mentioned in her post, I did see right through that one. for a Hump-Day Blind Solve. Easy anagrams followed for a successful morning solve. Good song and familiar with Shondelles, but not that particular song. Hope it’s not too hot out there for other posters. Stay cool in this summer heat !!
Good morning. I got the words in lickety split but drew a blank on the cool cartoon answer. I didn’t want to dampen my spirits so I went right to the answer. Like your song choice Angela. Just have to figure out how to hear it. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good morning again. I got the song Angela. Brings back memories. I think I was installing the elevators in the Belmont Plaza Hotel in Manhattan at the time. Take care.
Good Morning, Paul. I was just looking for another link for you. Glad you got it to open. Enjoy your day. 🙋🏻♀️
Yes, let’s get into the spirit of things.
Relax and have a few flings.
We’re just a wisp in the air
We drift without care
Who knows what our next life brings!
This Jumble reminds me of Google Translate a decade or so ago. It would translate “catch the spirit” into Spanish as “coja el alcohol”.
Great one today, easily solved, characters much enjoyed.
