  1. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…

🎶 You’ve got a FRIEND in me…You’ve got a FRIEND in me… And as the years go by…Our friendship will NEVER DIE…You’re gonna see it’s our destiny..You’ve got a FRIEND in me…🎶 “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” – Randy Newman 1995 https://tinyurl.com/467dyydx

🪳For those of you who know me, no need should I INFORM,
That bugs and I don’t get along…I may be beyond norm…
I barely stand mosquitoes…and out here they tend to DRESS
They ride in on their saddles…SPORTY-looking little pests…
So trust me when it comes to them, I truly lack all POISE
I’ll carry on and flail about…def make a lot of noise…
But these guys here? Well good for them, together as day ends…
As long as they don’t bug me? Let them drink and be “PEST” FRIENDS! 🪳

So…It’s early morning…and let’s be honest here…Termites and Cockroaches? Uh..no. But despite it bugging me, there’s work to be done, so let me take a BITE out of this…As I mentioned earlier, I’m extremely…what’s the word…repulsed?.. by any kind of flying or crawling thing. Completely repulsed. Some of you may even recall a few years back, when the subject of spiders CREPT up. And the question arose about how I might handle it if I were alone and faced with one. Simple…I’d get a paper towel, slowly creep up on it…and proceed to burn the house down. ‘Cause let’s be honest Folks…do you think spiders travel alone? I doubt it..Little varmint probably brought his whole damn family with him…Uh uh…I’m not waiting around to meet the rest of them…

Anyway…our words. Once again, all tried and true. And while we saw SDERS back in 2018, it’s SIPEO that takes the cake today. It showed up in 2018 also, but I stopped looking after I went back as far as 2015, and had already found it six times…because just like this termite and cockroach, it just kept multiplying. I mean, I had to PUT MY FOOT DOWN somewhere …And our words and the solve were all easily SQUASHED by the Early Birds. Ok…let me STEP ON IT and get to our cartoon.

So…Enjoying a drink at their neighborhood watering hole, today we find close pals, Woody, the Termite, and Hal Roach, the Roach. Bellied up to the bar, they’re being asked if they’d like another round by Buzz, the Mosquito bartender, and owner of the “Bugsy Salone”. No, that’s not a typo…it’s just that Buzz is very pretentious…he swears he’s a French Fly. Anyway, as is often the case when pals are out drinking, one offers to spring for the drinks, in this case Woody, while the other, Hal, offers to make good by giving him an antenna up on a house they could INFEST in together the next day. How LICE of him, huh? So here we all are, thinking we’re safe and sound, while these two “PEST” FRIENDS aren’t DRONING their sorrows…instead they’re planning to BUG the bejesus out of us. It’s just GNAT right…

Jeff’s Gems? Beer on tap’s the libation, with one faucet labeled “Lite”, and it’s being served in Pilsner glasses…And I SPIDER two of them high-fiving one another…

So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a great day, Everyone. Be well, stay safe…And here’s hoping it’s not any of our homes that Hal and Woody have chosen to infiltrATE…Let us SPRAY! 🪳🪰🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. OUT OF THE ARCHIVES…Puzzle of July 14th, 2016. “The Housefly and the Cockroach Were”…The solve? “PEST” FRIENDS! 🪰🦗

  3. Good morning. Everything is right with the world. We are back to normal. Easy breezy jumble from the words to the cartoon answer. Loved your post and song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Thank you. Definitely an easy, breezy one. And hoping you stay well and safe too. 🦟🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. 👖 With as much POISE as she could muster, she proceeded to INFORM the diners that their SPORTY mode of DRESS was not acceptable at the club…and realized then and there that she’d alienated some of her BEST FRIENDS…👖

🩱POISE she possessed, her DRESS on point, a lovely lady she,
Her job to INFORM those who came to today’s shopping spree…
The SPORTY clothes her company sells, on her success depends,
And customers take to her…she treats them all like BEST FRIENDS! 🩱

  5. Most of the anagrams were easy, the solution was pretty obvious. PEST FRIENDS, very fun!

  6. Tried solving puzzle first and saw an obvious BEST FRIENDS…or BUDDIES….but there was no B !!! Thought we might have traveled down a wrong rabbit hole, so quickly unscrambled the anagrams to find the word PEST. That should have jumped out in front of us from the start !!

    • LOL! Jumped out in front of you? 👏🏻👏🏻 The imagery! 😱 But Rabbit hole? Not HARE…That’s another puzzle altogether!😉 Have a good one, Terry! 🦟🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Friends came first to me, then Pest. Got a big kick out of all your pest references, Angela. Bugs give me the creeps too. But bees – and other insects – are in serious decline, which is not a good thing.

    • Thanks, Caroline. But to BEE honest? I had to BITE the bullet to get through it…Creeps indeed…Have a good one, Caroline. Enjoy! 🐝🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. An easy breezy puzzle for a Saturday.Anagrams were a quick solve ,then friends popped out for the second cartoon word, quickly followed by pest.My first thought was that insect or insects would be in the cartoon solution. We’re back on the road w twin watch duty in Dixon,on a summer type day w a temp forecast high of 91 degrees.Whew!

  9. I’m with you, Angela, bugged by bugs. Despite that fact, I was able to power through the Jumble this morning and arrive at the right answer for both the anagrams and the cartoon. Wishing all of you a pest free day.

    • Just the thought of them, Betty…and I can FLY off the handle…Have a good one…Enjoy! 🦟🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Hi all – The words weren’t too hard. I saw the IN prefix and it worked, and then saw SPORTY right after TROPHY and SPOTTY. Likewise the answer. I glanced at the cartoon and sentence and guessed BEST BUDDIES which fit, but since it was used in the dialog, the letters showed FRIENDS.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“Step on it” made me laugh Angela, and loved the Hal Roach moniker, but I had to look up the familiar name to learn the details.

“Despite her POISE in pulling off the look and the encouragement of her BEST FRIENDS, the uptight chaperones had to INFORM her that her SPORTY DRESS wouldn’t be accepted at the school dance.”

    • LOL! Yeah, Hal Roach…I wanted to work in GNAT Birnbaum* from the Honeymooners episode with the Crossword puzzle…but I forgot! 😂 House vermin tends to do that to me…I lose my terrain of thought! 😂 Anyway…👏🏻👏🏻for picking up on the Hal Roach. Lou owes me a fin! 👍🏻 Enjoy your day, Buddy! 🦟🙋🏻‍♀️
      * I’m going to see if there’s a clip of the episode on YouTube…Gets me every time!

    • I can’t seem to find it…but here’s the gist of it…

      Norton’s doing a crossword puzzle…
Norton: “Let me see here…”Four-letter word for place of dwelling”: House. H-O-S-E. You know, that’s the trouble with these crossword puzzles, they don’t present a challenge, they’re too easy.”
Alice: “Yeah, they’re real easy. Easy: E-Z-Y “

Then he needs a word for BUG…
Norton: “That four-letter word for “bug” ain’t right, it’s gotta end with a “T.”
      Ralph: “Put down ‘nat.’ N-A-T”.
      Alice: “Ed . . . ‘gnat’ is spelled with a ‘G’. Gnat”
Ralph: “‘Nat’ is spelled N-A-T. Put it down.”
Norton: “Hey, I gotta go along with Ralph on this one, Alice…I got a guy who works down in the sewer with me. He don’t spell it with a ‘G’: Nat Birnbaum”
Ralph: “You hear that, Alice? Nat Birnbaum doesn’t spell his name with a ‘G’.” 😂

  11. Our only jumble stumble was finding the word friends. But it came out. Angela your discussion about Pest is the best. As Mr. Reed said the only good bug is a dead bug

    • Millard…Pass the ammunition…that’s all I’ve got to say!!! 😂 😂 Glad you got the solve…and thanks for dropping by. Stay well Millard, and enjoy your night! 🦟🙋🏻‍♀️

  12. How can it be pest friends when my letters that have circles are I E D R E I N F S P T. There’s no 2 S’s in this. I have all the words correct, so something isn’t right.

    • Audrey…I don’t know what word you chose as your first, but the correct one would have given you the “S” that you’re missing. The first circled letter of the puzzle is “S”, not “I” as you’ve printed here. The correct word is POISE, and the letters taken from it are the last two, S and E.🙋🏻‍♀️
