  1. Good Morning, Everyone. 🐶 WHINE AND DINE? 🐶

🎶 And they called it PUPPY love…Oh I guess they’ll never know…How a young heart how it really feels…And why I love her so…🎶 “Puppy Love” – Paul Anka 1959 https://tinyurl.com/3mws2s3b

🐶 You HEDGE your bets when taking your dogs with you out to dine,
It def can be a one-two PUNCH if they begin to whine…
And things can quickly SPIRAL, you’ll SCUPT trouble on the spot,
Since other diners most times..understanding? No, they’re not…
But here Jeff’s eating something popular amongst the yuppies…
And figuring he’ll quiet his dogs…by feeding them HUSH PUPPIES! 🐶

A warm spring night…dining outdoors under the lights…sharing some wine…and…Woof! There it is! Barking dogs…Talk about a real food breaker…

Our words today, just as yesterday..barking up the same tree. One repeat anagram, GEEHD, and four old favorites. And the Early Birds chewed up the entire puzzle in record time…

Our puzzle today brings us to a trendy little bistro, somewhere in Indiana, well known for its numerous dog-friendly eateries. Seen dining al fresco, are our resident cartoonist, Jeff, accompanied by his lovely wife, Kathy. Trying to have a quiet dinner for two, the ambiance is broken though, by the barking of their beloved 11-year old “PUPPIES”, Fifi and Gizmo. Rescues both, Fifi, at left, is a black Papillon, while Gizmo, is a white male Chiweenie, with a broken ear. Obviously both unhappy with their current leash on life, the bone of contention seems to be that the bowl of water provided them isn’t enough to whet their whistles…and they’re creating quite a ruckus. And both the waiter and the woman diner are definitely not bowled over either. But while Kathy, who looks to be eating a salad, seems to agree, it appears that Jeff’s not pet peeved at all…and smiling, he’s seen offering some of his appetizers as the means to silence them. For there in his outstretched hand are two…HUSH PUPPIES! https://tinyurl.com/mhmvfazs Who knew…”There’s an APP for that”!

Jeff’s Gems? It’s amusing that while Fifi appears to be crying, Gizmo is on his feet, raising the woof…simply not willing to roll over…Obviously the bone-a-fide alpha male. And Jeff is seen sporting one of his many Poi Dog Pondering T’s. One thing that did stand out though…the word “quiet”. Used twice in the dialogue, it’s rare when we have a word repeated during a Jumble conversation, but…nothing to kibble over…All in all, I’d say today’s cartoon is pawsitively a howling success!

So, There you have it Folks, Done. Be well, stay safe…and I’ll see you fetch time! 🐶🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Trying to SCULPT the perfectly shaped HUSH PUPPIES, he thought he’d HEDGE around the recipe, but the SPIRAL shaped utensil he was using failed to PUNCH through the dough..🤷🏻‍♂️

🐡 He stood outside to trim his HEDGE, and it felt like a PUNCH,
When through the neighbor’s window he saw their son with a bunch…
Of objects in his little hand…a SPIRAL he did make,
Just what was that kid doing now? And is he hurling cake?
It seemed as if he’d SCULPT some dough over the tank of guppies…
And don’t you know the little brat fed those poor fish HUSH PUPPIES! 🐡

  3. When a Double-A minor league baseball team came to Richmond, Virginia, a contest was held to determine the name for the new team. One of the names suggested was HUSH PUPPIES. That would be a really bad name for a baseball team. “Hush” would mean hardly runners get on base, and Puppies? It would be like the Chicago Cubbies all over again. Fortunately that name was not chosen. Instead the team became the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

  4. Good morning. I was unable to get Sculpt on my own but once I put the letters down and took a few minutes to digest everything the brilliant answer became very clear. I was able to see Hush for the first word and seeing all them Ps it was obvious what the clever second word was. Enjoyed your post and your spot on song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Yes, definitely another cute and clever one, and a great cartoon to boot. And thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed what I dished out! Wishing you stay well and safe too, Paul. Enjoy your day…🐶🙋🏻‍♀️…
      Oh, and “digest”? Nice! 👏🏻👏🏻

  5. I didn’t get to the Jumble until late yesterday, but I also got “Flip the semester” instead of the correct answer. Today’s puzzle was very easy. Everything except SCULPT was an instant solve, and sculpt took only a couple of seconds.

    • That “flip the semester” really surprised me…But obviously the TERM was a pretty popular one! 😉 And yes, today’s definitely a breeze. And I hope you do the Sunday puzzle..because tomorrow’s a really good one! 🐶🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. A Monday easy puzzle on a Saturday for me,w no problem w the anagrams,w even sculpt and spiral readily coming to mind. Then w the multiple “H”s and “P”s,hush puppies was a quick solve.Reminds me of my former favorite shoes,”Hush Puppies” brand.

  7. Easy one today. No problem with either the anagrams or the cartoon answer. It was a cute puzzle. Happy Saturday to all! 🐶🐶

    • Too easy! In fact, I’m making..(and eating) 😉 Hush Puppies as we speak! I swear…I’m definitely wayyyy too impressionable! 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Wishing you a happy Saturday too, Betty. Enjoy! 🐶🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Hi all – Got the words; recognized SCULPT, took an extra jumble to get SPIRAL.
The first thing I noticed about the answer layout was that BONE APPETIT fit.
I had to write down the letters, and then it was obvious.

I know by now that Jeff’s shirt refers to Poi Dog Pondering, but my first thought will always be of a DEC PDP-11 computer.

Good wishes to everyone. Enjoy the day and the Hush Puppies (with ham?) Angela!

“Despite the obvious slash, the hockey player decided to HEDGE his retaliatory PUNCH, knowing that if he proceeded to SCULPT his opponent a new face, the game and his career would SPIRAL into chaos.”
