Happy Tuesday everyone! There weren’t any big surprises when it came to today’s clue words. All of the solutions have been previously used, but both of the six letter anagrams returned as new. ABRUPT was my pick for today’s hardest anagram. I thought FINISH was scrambled really well, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it came in a close second.
Today’s cartoon transports us to Transylvania, which, if you didn’t know is located in central Romania. We don’t quite know what brought our couple to this particular location, but my guess is they’re a couple of “Foodie’s” on vacation and they thought it would be really cool to dine in an old castle!
The dining room appears to be on the lower level of the restaurant as evidenced by the staircase in the background. The only traditional dining table in the room is the one our friends were seated at. The other two were in the shape of coffins that fit neatly into the recessed coves in the wall. The coffin on the left introduced us to a male and female vampire toasting glasses while the one on the right sat a Werewolf and the Bride of Frankenstein.
Jumble Jeff left us so many details that it was nearly impossible to choose one as my favorite. Some of the more notable ones that I spotted straight away were the claw shaped feet on the coffins, the skull/candle centerpiece on the table and the “bat” symbol on the back of the gentleman’s chair. The one detail that instantly became my favorite was perhaps the only one you couldn’t see with the naked eye. It was an upside down bat drawn into the top margin of the “Vlad’s Hangout” menu!
The final solve was quite challenging for a Tuesday offering. The anagram was nine letters in length and contained five consonants and four vowels. I thought the layout disguised the solution remarkably well, and all I saw at first was “smart” and “foes.” I only stumbled upon FEAR after separating the vowels and consonants into two groups which left ATMOS standing by for the finish. Have a terrific Tuesday, and keep Jumbling!
And there’s another gory little detail… Was the waiter calling the place “Vladi’s” instead of Vlad’s intentional or a typo? 🧛🏻🤷🏻♀️

After the last few easy days I got throttled today. Anagrams came easy but the solution didn’t. I was looking for something like AMBIENCE but couldn’t find it. Quotation marks always kill me!!!
I jinxed Oregon State *real* good, didn’t I Mig? 😂 Good luck to your teams.
Only one team will still be standing on the tournament’s final day, Steve! OSU got pretty far….
Yes, the last few days were easy, unlike today….Stumped (and I’m a Dracula fan !!)
It might amaze you, but I had trouble at the puzzle finish before making an abrupt change to using my vampire movie voice. Then “atmos-fear” came easily. Ah, ha, ha.
Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds Boo well…🧛🏻🙋🏻♀️
🎥 The ATMOSPHERE in the MOVIE theater seemed somewhat hostile as they entered, and then someone told them in a rather ABRUPT manner that did AMAZE them… “Don’t waste your time…I couldn’t wait for it to FINISH…” 🎥
🎞 She came across as so ABRUPT, so yes it did AMAZE,
How she could seem to be so cold ‘bout her co-star’s malaise…
The MOVIE, near to FINISH, suddenly began to veer
As her attitude did permeate the now tense ATMOSPHERE! 🎞
Good morning. The words were a breeze but the cartoon answer was a thumbs down for me. Unable to get the solution I looked up some possibilities and came up with “ After Moas” which is as lame as today’s answer. Sorry I’m so critical but I do enjoy a lot of the brilliant answers that are in quotation marks. This one if we were playing Battleship sunk to the bottom of the sea. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
🎶 Now everything’s cool, DRAC’S a part of the band, …And my MONSTER MASH is the hit of the land…For you, the living, this mash was meant too…When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you…🎶 “Monster Mash – Bobby “Boris” Pickett 1962 https://tinyurl.com/thjuundj
🧛🏻 It looks just like a MOVIE set, with ghouls from start to FINISH,
And so this couple gets creeped out, there’s no way to diminish…
They had no idea Vlad’s would be this likely to AMAZE,
It’s obviously prompted by the current vampire craze…
The Wolfman and old Frankie’s Bride, and sitting there two vampires,
It wasn’t what they had in mind, their apprehension fires…
And blood sausage to start a meal?…Well now they’ve heard enough,
So left no choice they’re booking…not caring that they’re ABRUPT…
“We have to go, we have a thing…so we’re so our of here…”
And with those parting words they fled the gruesome “ATMOS-FEAR”! 🧛🏻
BOO….WHO? 🧛🏻🙋🏻♀️
i got everything instantly !
You’re STILL the MAN, Robert!
Anagrams were a quick solve but not so the cartoon w its dreaded quotes, which get me almost every time.
Hi all – Just a quick pause seeing UPBEAT before ABRUPT. I found the solution a bit cryptic, thinking the second answer word might be MENU, but saw the correct answer after writing down the letters.
Good wishes to everyone.
“The original 3-D MOVIE version of ‘Creature From the Black Lagoon’ was set to AMAZE the audience but came to an ABRUPT FINISH when the two projectors got out of sync.” (I actually saw this happen.)
I thought today’s puzzle was clever. First came up with atmos- fare then realized it was fear. Enjoyed all the details in the cartoon. Happy Tuesday all.
This can also spell “aroma-fest”
I thought it was all simple you can see the fear in the couples face I solved the puzzle before I got any of the words.Come on puzzled people it was as easy as Gonzaga winning the championship!
