  1. As most of us expected the Friday J was harder than the rest of the week. It took me just under 7 minutes to get the anagrams and solve the puzzle. I enjoyed the puzzle and the cartoon and some of the anagrams were harder than earlier in the week.
We had more crazy weather today in LaLaLand but not nearly enough rain to move the dial on the drought meter. I fear another major fire season for us.
The heater in our house has been working non-stop which is odd, unusual and awful. In Cally shorts and sleeveless T shirts rule the day but for the last month I’ve been sporting the ‘layered’ look!
Tomorrow is a new Saturday and we will see how it goes, Jumblers!

  2. Good Morning, Everyone 👩🏻‍💻 A WORD TO THE WISE 👩🏻‍💻

🎶 Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars…Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars…IN OTHER WORDS…hold my hand…IN OTHER WORDS…Darling, kiss me…🎶 “Fly Me To The Moon – In Other Words” – Frank Sinatra 1964 https://tinyurl.com/kad3dstn

👩🏻‍💻 A Thesis statement need be strong…Here parents tell their child,
That hers is not quite up to snuff…it reads a little mild…
The child, just a MINOR, I’d say she’s 9-10 or so,
Is asking how to HANDLE it…’expound’ she doesn’t know…
While both parents are speaking, she needs SWIVEL left to right,
(And TURBO’s sitting this one out…it doesn’t fit her plight)…
Vocabulary is the key…To write without? Absurd…
And synonyms add flourish…what she needs…IN OTHER WORDS! 👩🏻‍💻

Getting a strong sense of déjà vu, but unable to define it, I went looking back a few days, and sure enough, came to our puzzle of March 5th, https://tinyurl.com/yk6s7ndy where we dealt with the young girl memorizing her spelling words. And I had to smile, because I guess David just can’t get away from his love of learning. For those of you who may not know, David and his wife, Claire, are the founders of the David L. Hoyt Education Foundation, https://tinyurl.com/3pbzp82x where they dedicate themselves to making learning fun. So I guess what we have here today is another example of art imitating life…

So, with words we’re all familiar with, the Early Birds flew through them this morning, with just one of them taking more than one turn at SWIVEL. And the solve? With that big hint of Synonyms in the question? Let’s just say that Words didn’t fail them…

…And speaking of words, today we see a young girl working on an essay. Having written a thesis statement https://tinyurl.com/a4hked76 that doesn’t quite spell it all out, her parents are advising her to “expound” https://tinyurl.com/3pw59fmh on it, and the child’s asking for clarification…Well, at least they’re all on the same page! And David’s asking us where synonyms might help. IN OTHER WORDS…the more you know…the more you show! And that, Folks, puts the pieces to a thesis!

And while our girl composes on her Apple device, with Jeff’s little pineapple logo adding to the whimsy, hopefully we’ll soon see the fruits of her labor coming out of that printer…And that’s all she wrote…

So, there you have it Folks…Done! Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…And keep in mind…When writing, while your opening statement is always important…so is that last paragraph. Yep, I’ve come to that conclusion…👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️

How do you make a proofreader vomit? Show him a typo…It’ll make him (sic)!

  3. ⚾️ When the powerhouse MINOR league player, who IN OTHER WORDS was dubbed the TURBO-jet swinger, got up to bat, he lost his HANDLE, and failed to SWIVEL into the ball…⚾️

🎸The man was known as SWIVEL hips, he definitely caused a scene,
And parents were all up in arms…corruption for the teens!
With all those TURBO movements though, the ladies thought him finer,
    Then anything they’d seen before…deeming brouhaha MINOR…
“If you can’t HANDLE how he looks…perhaps you shouldn’t watch…”
Is what they said, but still alas, no camera on his crotch!
He was a hit, the shows sold out…despite all that was heard…
And Elvis then was dubbed the King…to put IN OTHER WORDS! 🎸

  4. IN OTHER WORDS. In other words, IN OTHER SWORD. IN DOER’S WORTH. ON WIRED SHORT. ON HIRED WORTS. ON THEIR SWORD. OR THEIR DOWNS. TO WIRED HORNS. OR THINE WORDS. OR OWNED SHIRT. OR SNIDE WORTH. ON THROW RIDES. Yes, all of this. That is what the authors of this Jumble lead us to. And it was all done ON THEIR WORDS.

  5. I needed to check if tubor (tuber) was the right spelling and then wasn’t sure if Turbo was actually a word until I looked it up.  My first answer was “on their words,” which Jim B.and maybe others had. This made some sense, but “on” didn’t seem right. I started over, figuring words was probably part of the answer, and found the rest.  Cute proofreader joke, Angela.

    • Hi Caroline. Good Morning. Tk you! Another fun puzzle…Hope you enjoy your day, Caroline…and stay safe. 👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Good morning. And the hits keep coming. No problem with the words or cartoon answer. I picked the 12 letters as the most difficult because I had TO for the two letter word at first. It took me a couple of minutes to rule that out and then everything fell in line. At least I had to think a little a more today compared to the rest of the week. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • The hits, indeed! 👏🏻👏🏻Good Morning, Paul. Glad it all fell into place…Have a good one and stay safe out there. 👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. I had the anagrams but tried ‘it’ rather than ‘in’ for the first word in the cartoon solution, and words as one of the 5 letter solutions, but lacking the T for other that I had used for ‘it’ in the first word had me stumped as far as getting the final solution. At least my paper was delivered this morning, not like yesterday’s missing paper.Speaking of synonyms, antonyms,as in opposites popped into mind,as did homonyms, words sounding the same came to mind.Have a safe and sound weekend.

    • Good Morning, Professor. With WORDS being a given, I felt the word Synonym in the question gave the solution up right away. Synonym meaning OTHER WORDS. And I enjoy the “nym” words too, as the Little Ones call them. We spend a lot of time playing with homonyms, antonyms and synonyms. It’s a fun way to increase their vocabularies. Glad you got your paper, Prof…I know how you much rather do the puzzle from there rather than online. Wishing you a good one. Be well and stay safe.👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Hi all – Yet another easy day with both the words and the answer.

I wondered whether you’d use the Sinatra, Angela, and I wasn’t disappointed!
And after having been a technical writer for a brief time, I didn’t consider your jest a “sic joke” – it made me laugh.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“His Volvo’s TURBO made it easy to HANDLE a MINOR SWIVEL around the fallen tree branch.”

    • Sinatra? LOL! How could I not? It’s a perfect fit! And you know that IN OTHER WORDS was the original song title, right? It’s a great piece of muSIC! 😉 And Tks…I made myself laugh too! And another thanks for pointing out that I used the word grapefruit instead of pineapple when describing the logo on the tablet. If I’m not mistaken, I did the same thing last time too. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Weirdest thing…I KNOW it’s a pineapple…and yet? 🤷🏻‍♀️ What’s up with that? I guess maybe the juices just weren’t flowing yet! 😉 Anyway, I found another clip of Sinatra doing the song. I’m putting it here..mostly for Betty. This one’s chock full of eye candy. That fabulous face! Have a good one, Steve. Be well and stay safe out there…👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. How easy can this be! In other words, this must be Monday!
Love this Jumble and it’s solution.

    • Hi Christian. Yep, definitely an easy, breezy one…What’s not to love? 😉 Enjoy your day, Sir…Be well and stay safe…👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Another good day here too though like Caroline I first thought “in their words”. All in all it’s been a very good week Jumble wise. Wishing all of you a good Saturday.

    • A good week indeed, Betty. Easy and fun…Wishing you a good Saturday too…Enjoy, be well and stay safe.👩🏻‍💻🙋🏻‍♀️
