HME DUT FOET SHI = FISHED THEM OUT
Happy Thursday Jumble fans! We have another new clue word this morning. David introduced HOMER into the Jumble lexicon, but with spring training fully underway, and the regular season beginning in less than three weeks, I had no trouble figuring it out. It was pretty much the same deal for the rest of the offerings. A slight pause to let GOTFER sink in was about as difficult as it got.
I’ve never owned a guppy, but I have kept many goldfish, and even dabbled with a saltwater reef tank a couple of times. The gentleman at the pet store where I purchased the saltwater tank assured me that maintaining one was foolproof. Well, I proved him wrong. And not once, but twice! Once the chemistry of the water gets out of whack, there’s no turning back.
It looks like mom is introducing her son to the joys of fishkeeping. If he hadn’t asked the worm question, I probably would have assumed that he was buying them as feeder fish for his Oscar or Cichlid. The look on the faces of the guppies as they raced away from the net gave me quite a chuckle. Did you notice the other pets for sale in the background? I spotted a hamster in solitary on the left and an angelfish in the tank on the right. My favorite detail? Well that would definitely be the little treasure chest aerator in the middle of the guppy tank. I counted nine bubbles coming from it, but a couple of them could have been gold coins!
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 13 letters. Five of them were vowels and eight were consonants. Noticing the SHI at the end of the layout, and the fact that FISH was not specifically mentioned, made it a breeze. With the aforementioned FISH removed from the equation, OUT and THEM came into view with very little effort. Have a terrific Thursday, and keep Jumbling!

IM using a new to me online site to be an early bird on Jumble and it took me 1.00 minute to complete the anagrams correctly and 52 seconds to solve the puzzle. I am sure most of you MENSA-ITES will have similar times………………
This was a fun and easy Jumble and this has been a fun week for me.
Tomorrow we will start heading Into the weekend and we will learn how that goes!
Have a great day all!!!
Those are some impressive times, Mig. I hope you write them down so you can track your progress. Are you interested in competing for the title of Jumble Champion?
I am not receiving my JUMBLES!!! I miss them. Could you check on this?
Thank you.
I only provide the answers, Edith. You’ll have to check with the publisher of your newspaper if you’re not receiving the game.
Good morning. A fourth day straight where jumble was easy breezy. Absolutely no problem with either the words or cartoon. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Did you swap your regular brand of blueberries for the organic ones?
All my best for a successful solve tomorrow, Paul. Don’t let the streak end!!! 🙂🏆
Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…🙋🏻♀️
With the manager having a DOUBT or two as to which of his players could hit a HOMER, he eventually FISHED THEM OUT…but he couldn’t FORGET how his new rookie, being as quiet and mysterious as a SPHINX had driven him crazy…⚾️
🐲 She gifted him a painting, she said it was a SPHINX,
But staring at the likes of it, it definitely made him think…
The name on it read HOMER, the last name nondescript,
But how could he FORGET that this Sphinx had wings that were clipped?
So not to come across all wrong, despite having his DOUBT,
He thanked her…but for details? On his own he FISHED THEM OUT…🐲
I won’t forget the sphinx-like smile on my face because there was no doubt that I hit a homer. I fished them (answers) out in record time. Have a great day everyone!
You make it seem effortless, OO. Thanks for the laugh! 🙂
With today being World Kidney Day, and the focus on “Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere”…here’s to education, awareness, and patient empowerment. And the best of wishes to all those fighting the good fight. 🏥🙋🏻♀️
For Everyone FLOUNDERing out there…Here’s Dolly…Just for the HALIBUT…🐠🙋🏻♀️
🎶 FISH OUT OF WATER …I’ve had it to the gills…FISH OUT OF WATER…With these yuppie-guppie frills…FISH OUT OF WATER, it’s such a culture shock …FISH OUT OF WATER…My stomach’s tied in knots…🎶 “Fish Out of Water” – Dolly Parton 1992 https://tinyurl.com/4ndjpdjx
🐠 I hear people talk about their fish…their guppies as a child,
I DOUBT if it was all that great…the flushing don’t sound wild…
It’s foreign as a SPHINX to me, I never had a fish,
“FORGET it” was my choice of words…a fish I had no wish…
I had Baseball, I played outside, a HOMER out to clout,
But guppies in a little bowl? Nope, never FISHED THEM OUT! 🐠
“Just for the Halibut,” Angela? You’re too clever. Take Care,
LOL…I TANK you for compliment, you def do warm my SOLE,
I SCHOOL myself on funny puns, I try my best be droll…
I’m not one just to CARP and run, although this thing ‘bout fish?
I do find it amusing…and to amuse is my wish…
So yes, just for the HALIBUT, I thought to MULLET over…
I now love fish of any kind…especially SOLE OF DOVER!
Plus I love Miss Dolly! So to all those who like me often feel like a FISH out of water, remember there’s always a PLAICE for humor…Have a good one, Betty. Be well and stay safe! 🐠🙋🏻♀️
Sphinx gave me reason to pause, but after solving the cartoon solution and needing the H,E,and M: homer was a quick solve as well.
Easy time of it here today too. It’s been a very good week Jumble wise so far. Have a good day all.
Hi Betty – Remember when you asked yesterday if it was raining here? Right after I answered, we had a real downpour for about 15 minutes, but the really weird thing is that it included two bouts of hail! It was very small (“pea-sized” they called it) and didn’t cause any damage, but there was enough to accumulate on my window sills and look at until it melted about five minutes later.
We had “pea” sized hail as well along with buckets 🪣 of rain and gusting winds…
No hail here in S.F. yesterday but did have a few downpours. Did you see the snow on Mt. Diablo & Mt. Hamilton? There really wasn’t much so to speak but folks just go wild even with a dusting. Sun is out today but it is cool. Of course none of this holds a candle to what our Mid West & East Coast Jumblers experience weather wise.
I saw the reports of snow, but I’ve seen enough in person to last the rest of my life!
Hi all – A really quick puzzle today, words and answer. My first thought was that this is the closest an answer has come to not being a pun that I can remember, because the guy is literally fishing them out. Close enough, though.
My parents and brother had two goldfish named Mike and Ike before I was born, but they were long gone by the time I came around. My pets were all parakeets and much more fun because they could talk to us, which I doubt the fish ever did.
Nice song Angela, and it reminded me of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Boredom”:
🎵”So here we are together, machines and me
I feel about as local as a fish in a tree”🎵
Good wishes to everyone.
“I always FORGET whether it’s Byron, Shelley or Keats who wrote about the SPHINX-like statue in the desert sand, but I have no DOUBT that it isn’t HOMER.”
Tks, Steve…And if you think about it though, it is a witty play on words. Fishing something out? Definitely some wiggle room there! 🐠🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/redw23dw
Byron, Shelley, Keats! 😂! ODE no…not again! 😂 🙋🏻♀️
Cute names, Steve. Goldie was the name my son picked after winning him/her at the Hopkinton State Fair!
I somehow thought you might like that first name. 😂 And “Ike” shows just how long ago that was!
Or just maybe it was this…😉🙋🏻♀️

I always assumed “Ike” referred to Eisenhower, but now I think it was the candy! Oh well, another cherished childhood illusion down the drain 😂 (just like Mike and Ike probably, come to think of it! 😂)
LOL!…Maybe it did. But then who was Mike? 😂🤷🏻♀️And if you read the History, there’s a lot of conjecture. As for those cherished childhood illusions though? Don’t get me started. Conversations amongst my brothers and I make me question if we all grew up in the same household…Funny how we remember things…But anyway…your fish story’s a SWEET one! 😂🙋🏻♀️
Oh…and Mike and Ike? Amazon! 🍬🙋🏻♀️
