  1. Good Morning, Everyone 🍺 WISH YOU WERE BEER 🍺

🎶 Sometimes you want to go…Where everybody knows your name…And they’re always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see,…Our troubles are all the same…You wanna be where everybody knows your name…🎶 “Cheers Theme Song: Where Everybody Knows Your Name” – Gary Portnoy1982 https://tinyurl.com/slg9xm3o

🍺 When Cheers first came upon the scene, a hit we hoped it’d be,
(From that first SIGHT of Sam Malone…I knew that they had me)…
And Sam became the perfect foil…Diane one step AHEAD,
And ‘oer the years, the characters GROWTH…is why no viewers fled…
I saw the show religiously, I’d BATTEN down and watch…
The crazy scenes that they all caused…and all the things they’d botch
One grew to love them one and all…and no one could deny..
That 13 Emmys…out the gate? Cheers def SET THE BAR HIGH! 🍺

September 30th, 1982. The location, Boston. The setting, a BAR named “Cheers”. The scene…Diane Chambers, a grad student of Boston University, sits at the bar reading, awaiting the return of her fiancé. In walks a bar regular, Norm Peterson. After getting his usual raucous welcome of “NORM”!, https://tinyurl.com/2b73vbdo, he sits atop his favorite barstool, looks over at Diane, and asks…”Yo, Miss…What’re you reading…A book”? …And with that one absolutely ridiculously inane line, I was hooked….

While there’s no new words on tap today, we do have all new anagrams, and they all went down smoothly…bar none. The solve? An easy set up…

So being the huge “Cheers” fan that I am, I could have a heavy hand, and really pour it on thick when it comes to the show and it’s characters. But instead of pulling a “Cliff”, I’ll give you this piece from Wikipedia, https://tinyurl.com/1twfda1c, that I’m sure can brew a much better job…And I’ll just get to our cartoon…

Today we find ourselves on the set of the long running TV favorite, ‘Cheers”. Seated at the bar, while one of the shows creators, James Burrows, fields a phone call, are two main characters, Cliff Clavin, a mailman at left, played by John Ratzenberger, and Norm Peterson, the ever-harried sometimes accountant at right, played to perfection by George Wendt. James has just gotten the news that the show has received an unprecedented 13 Emmy nominations, in this, their first year. Thirteen! Now that’s quite an accomplishment…and it definitely SET THE BAR HIGH! https://tinyurl.com/y3ne2dyu The hints? “Cheers” – a BAR…and James dialogue…”more Emmys than any other comedy…ever”…A HIGH standard to live up to…

Jeff’s Gems? John’s “little known fact” and George’s “I’ll drink to that”, went on to become signature catch phrases for their characters. They’d line ‘em up, so to speak…And I like the little USPS logo of the standing eagle that’s seen on Cliffs’ uniform shirt. But the best shot in today’s cartoon has to be that ‘80s cordless phone. https://tinyurl.com/2qackz9b Now that’s something to talk about!

So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and here’s hoping no one’s left high and dry today…And in memory of one of the best…Here’s one for the road…🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

….And today in Jumble Trivia…The puzzle of Christmas Eve 2019: The question – “When they put a cocktail lounge on the 96th floor of the Hancock, they”…And the solve? SET THE BAR HIGH…🥂🍾 https://tinyurl.com/y616pppu

  3. 🪜 Trying to set the BATTEN in place, he realized that to get AHEAD and have real GROWTH with this job, there’d be no room for hind SIGHT, since his predecessor had SET THE BAR HIGH…🪜

💪🏻 He had some kind of fore SIGHT, that enabled him to BATTEN
Opponents left and right all day…each one he’d easily flatten…
He stayed AHEAD of the whole pack, the GROWTH of his purse real,
He left the others in his dust…and they all came to feel…
Unless they upped their game and quick…they’d be left high and dry
‘Cause this guy definitely was slick…and he SET THE BAR HIGH! 💪🏻

  4. 💥 ✨ To those of our readers who are celebrating today…✨💥
🐂 HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR…The Year of the Ox..
I wish you a very Happy Year…With Good Luck, Health and Prosperity. 🐂🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Good morning. Breezed thru the words but failed on the brilliant cartoon answer. Never saw bar in the group of 3 letter words. Apparently mine wasn’t set high at all. Passed with 70% on the quiz. The three wrong were 2,7,10. Good song choice Angela. As soon as you heard that theme come on you stopped what you were doing to watch the show. Really was entertaining. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Thank you…And you’re right. Something about that songs opening BARS that just drew you in. It was a fantastic show…Have a good one, Paul. Be well, stay safe…and keep warm. It’s brutal 🥶🥶out there! 🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Sight was looking like thigh at first, but lacking letters .Then the cartoon solution had too many 3 letter words for me.Well it is Friday,so naturally the puzzle is harder than a Monday puzzle.Cheers was also one of my favorite shows as well.

    • Good Morning, Professor…I think it was a favorite of a lot of us. I hated to see it end. Have a good one, Prof. Be well, and stay safe and warm…🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Happy birthday, Abe!! You are 212 on 2-12. We could use you today in Washington. Hope you’re resting in peace!

    • Hi Chuck. Good Morning. Yes, HB 🎈to Mr Lincoln…Good call on the math! 👏🏻👏🏻 And your lips to Gods ears…we need all the help we can get…😢 Stay warm, Chuck…and I hope you and Liz are well and safe. 🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. It seemed to take forever, but I did solve it. BAR was a given, HIGH came next. Then the rest about 20 minutes. Being a midwesterner, our speak is different. So, till tomorrow, take care and stay safe, y’all.

  9. Cheers to all of you this morning. Had to take to pencil and paper to figure out all those three letter words but once I found “bar” the rest was a snap. We had lunch at the Cheers bar when we were in Boston. It was fun. Boston is such a beautiful city. Gong Hay Fat Choy! Wishing all of you good health and prosperity in this the Year of the OX. No big parade in our Chinatown this year but hopefully it will return in 2022.

    • Cheers to you too, Betty! And same here…no parade in Chinatown. But yes, hopefully next year everything returns. I’ll definitely drink to that! Enjoy your day, Betty…Be well and stay safe. 🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Took about an hour to solve the entire puzzle. Scored 90% on the cheers quiz, got question #10 wrong…admittedly I just guessed.

It’s going to be a good day.

  11. Hi all – Yet another nearly instant puzzle. The words were no problem, and I tried BAR as one of the answer words which worked perfectly.

I was scrolling the picture up online, so the first thing I saw was “John, George! We were nominated” and thought it was going to be a Beatles puzzle, possibly about them getting their MBE’s.

My favorite detail was also that big phone – I almost said “cell phone” before quickly realizing it was far too early for that.

    Good wishes to everyone.

I love that first line you quoted, Angela “a book?” 😂 How suave!
And I chuckled at “words on tap.”
Around here they call it “Lunar New Year” due to all the many other Asian cultures that celebrate it.

The Quiz – Once again, I passed with 70% on a quiz I know almost nothing about (some lucky guesses.) Missed 2,3 and 9.

“The SIGHT of the rapid GROWTH of the thunderhead blowing in AHEAD of the storm showed him he’d better BATTEN down his shutters right away.”

    • That line just cracked me up! The delivery was just so droll…Classic Norm. And I’ve used it a gazillion times over the years! It’s definitely one of my go-tos…Suave, indeed! Poor Diane…left alone amongst the neanderthals! Have a good one, Steve…Be well and stay safe…🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

  12. Good one today, especially for a Cheers fan like me. 80% on the MikeQuiz (I really wanted to pick MIG as coaches first name but knew better). I was looking for BAR NONE in the solution but couldn’t find the ‘N’s, alas! “What’s going down, Norm?”…..”My butt on this barstool!!!” Beautiful day in the land of La after a storm squall zoomed through over night. Some snow in our mountains. Enjoy the day and throw snowballs if you got them.

    • Beautiful here now too…if you consider 18° beautiful! But we do have sun! 😉…And 2 more storms coming down the pike…Aced the Quiz…Loved the show…Have a good one, Mig. Be well and stay safe…🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

  13. Shout out to Oldomaha…Hi! I was surprised to see you commenting on the Poll page, and not here where we usually find you. But just a little note. You’re right about when Frasier Crane first appeared on the show, but that’s not him pictured in today’s cartoon. It’s James Burrows, https://tinyurl.com/2al7ba5j the noted director, and co-creator of “Cheers”, along with the Charles Brothers, Glen and Les. Hope you’re enjoying your evening, O…See you on the flip side! 🍺🙋🏻‍♀️
