  1. Good Morning, Everyone. 📆 DAYS OF WHINE AND CLOSES 📆

🎶 I love, I love, I love my CALENDAR girl…Yeah, sweet CALENDAR girl…I love, I love, I love my CALENDAR girl…Each and every DAY of the year…🎶 “Calendar Girl” – Neil Sedaka 1959 https://tinyurl.com/zypd7qh

    📆 I made a list, I checked it twice, and DISCUS l can’t find
(Perhaps it’s for the best because it won’t fit in my rhyme)…
Today we deal with travel, or should I say ALLEGE?
Because the virus definitely has caused travel to hedge…
Before there would be EXODUS…with vacas left and right,
But now we stay at home…and ENGULF ourselves in blight…
We went without a BARBER, we wear a mask all day,
The WHIMSY that we once all loved…for months has gone away…
So like our guy here in the pic, who’s life’s become real cumbered
That calendar has bit the dust…for sure it’s DAYS WERE NUMBERED! 📆

Yeah…so not exactly the best year for a Travel Calendar, IMO. I mean the pictures may be nice…but for me? It’d be like dangling the carrot, you know what I mean? But to each his own…some people are just gluttons for punishment…

So, our words. What I said earlier about making a list and checking it twice wasn’t merely words…no pun intended. I did check my list, twice…and I’m surprised to say that I really couldn’t find DISCUS. And it threw me for a loop! Doesn’t it seem so familiar? IDK…maybe I’ll look again later, but for now, let’s get this show on the road…(again…no pun intended). Our remaining words have all been used before, and it’s only SHMIWY that’s coming up as a repeat anagram. As far as the difficultly scale? The Early Birds did some tossing around with Fungal…yes, I know, SPORE spelling, but it seems like ALLEGE was proven to be a little more troublesome. The solve? A few of them took “its” to be “it’s”…What possessed them? IDK…It’s clear David didn’t use an apostrophe…But suffice to say it sent them on a wild goose chase…(again, no pun intended)…Anywayyyyy…Let’s move on to our cartoon….”A little TRAVELin’ music…and away we go…” (And who can tell me where that came from)?

Today’s featured couple. They do have a very distinctive look, and I started leaning towards Jeff’s parents, who’ve been featured in our puzzles before…but MAYbe not, because the noses and the hairstyles are different. But they do definitely seem to be a “real-life” couple. Anyway, we see them in either a kitchen or a hall entranceway, and as the woman looks at their travel calendar featuring this December, they’re overheard discussing how the year is drawing to a close. But while her words, and sweetly winsome look are saying one thing…both of his are leaning towards another. As far as he’s concerned, the DAYS can’t go fast enough…as he’d be more than happy to bid “goodbye” to 2020. And herein lie our clues…The DAYS so prominently displayed on the calendar? His turn of phrase https://tinyurl.com/yytpmrnp?…This calendar? It’s DAYS WERE NUMBERED! And how’s that for a great play on words? I tell you, David’s definitely a TRIP!

And now…the eye candy. And bear with me, Folks…because today, Jeff’s gifted us a with a NUMBER of beauties…(and IMO, my DAYS would be NUMBERED if I didn’t share them all with you). Ok..let’s begin this JOURNEY with what’s on the console table. A bowl of candy, a car key fob, and a man’s wallet. By the foot of the table, Jeff’s let a sleeping dog lie. And now…that newspaper the man is holding? A plethora of little goodies. Let’s start with the front page…He’s reading “The Paper”. The headline reads…”NASA Watches Astro…” the rest is hidden behind his hand, while a photo of a spaceship is seen hurdling through space. Below that reads. “Blizzard hits”, and we see a snow plow going up against a mountain of snow. Opposite page…and I’m not sure how this unFOLDS, but here we see a comics and games. Top left, the distinctive “Family Circus” circle, and below it “Pearls Before Swine”, where we can easily make out the image of Rat. At top right is the Jumble, in what looks like a puzzle featuring Jeff and David working at their desks, reminiscent of the puzzle from 09/13/17…And below it, a Crossword grid, with its clues. An “I ❤️Jumble” mug sits at his right hand, steaming vapors of coffee emanating…And one would think that all this would be enough to satisfy any Eye Candy aficionado…But hold on to your hats, Folks…this DAY gets even better. What really DREW me in? The calendar picture for December? None other than Jeff’s cartoon from the puzzle of September 27th.. https://tinyurl.com/yy6foyur, .Venice…and its boatloads of passengers! Now how’s that for a Photo FINISH! Major Kudos, Jeff. 👏🏻👏🏻! This one definitely NUMBERS in the Top Ten!

So, There you have it Folks, (FINALly) Done! Have a good one…Be well, stay safe, and let’s all COUNT our blessings…’Cause as bad as things may seem, there’s always better DAYS ahead…and pretty soon we’ll be saying Goodbye to 2020…And I think we’re definitely all ready to “say Bon Voyage to this whole year”…📆 🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤾🏻 His BARBER, always one to ALLEGE one conspiracy theory or another, seemed to ENGULF himself in nonsense, and this time, his story about an Olympian’s DISCUS and how his DAYS WERE NUMBERED with a blatant EXODUS from the rules, really went way beyond WHIMSY…🤾🏻

💈He tried not to ENGULF himself with things others ALLEGE,
It seems today mass EXODUS from common sense they dredge…
He’s sitting in the BARBER chair, and a hears the stories told,
What once may have been WHIMSY, seems now to have gotten bold…
They go through topics left and right…a DISCUS’s up right now,
The segue that they entertain…hard to keep up somehow…
So many times they’re off the mark…so many times they’ve blundered
He’s starting to think coming here? Perhaps the DAYS WERE NUMBERED! 💈

  3. Morning Everyone –
Perfect, fun song choice, Angela. Thanks for pointing out all the wonderful details.
I was stuck on Engulf and the answer until I realized the “its” at the end of the sentence was referring to the calendar. That led me to days and the rest. Then I backed into Engulf. I can’t recall knowing about travel calendars.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Thank you..😘 I definitely had a lot of fun with this puzzle this morning…”IT’S” so chock full of gems! Jeff outdid himself! But that “its”? I had a feeling it might TRIP some people up today, as it did a few of my friends this morning. But I’m glad you stuck with “IT”! 😉 And as for the “travel” calendars? It’s just a term referring to calendars that feature a different, popular vacation destination each month. I guess “it’s” become a “thing”! Have a good one, Caroline. Be well and stay safe out there…📆🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. No problem with the words but took some time to get the cartoon answer. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  5. Hi all – Interesting words. I got DISCUS because it showed up in a different puzzle recently. I had to pause at both BARBER and WHIMSY, but got them each on the third try. “Angela” kept showing up on the way to ALLEGE 😂

The newspaper headlines in “The Paper” were great and very appropriate to the theme. Funny to see the “Pearls” comic in there, and yes, I did notice that the calendar picture was a recent Jumble. I liked that “its” in the dialog instead of “it’s” showed that the answer was something that actually belonged to the calendar, and tipped me off to the answer.

Angela, to me the picture looks like an asteroid threatening to come close to Earth in keeping with the other bad news in the paper (blizzard) and the overall theme, but then I couldn’t think of what the partial “Astro” headline would say.

    Good wishes to everyone.

    • Hey Steve..I guess it said Astronaut or Asteroid, etc…either way, NASA’s understandably watching…(And I too saw my name for a fleeting moment)! 😉 All in all…the puzzle was a BLAST! Have a good one, Steve. Be well and stay safe out there…🚀🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Allege looked like legale to me,which didn’t help the “whimsical ” cartoon solution either. As far as calendars,I’m sure we all are eager to turn the page on 2020, 2021 has to be better, doesn’t it?

    • Professor…From your lips to Gods ears..🙏🏻 .Here’s to a much better 2021! 🍷 Have a good one, Prof…Be well and stay safe out there…📆🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Hi David…Thanks so much for stopping by. You know it’s always such a pleasure to see you and Miss Daisy. And know that all of us here greatly appreciate what you and Jeff do for us each DAY…you’ve definitely made these past few months a little easier to bear. Loving your tree and fireplace…they both look so inviting…Be well, David and stay safe…and thanks again for thinking of us. Happy Holidays to you and yours…🎄🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Fun punny cartoon, relatively easy for me. ALLEGE slowed my roll for a few minutos but I came back a little later and got it. Good song choice Angela, Neil Sedaka was one of my faves…….

    • Hey, Mig…Yes definitely an easy fun one today…and thank you. I enjoy his music too…Enjoy your day, Mig. Be well and stay safe…📆🙋🏻‍♀️

    • As long as you enjoyed it, Tim…that’s what counts! Hope you and your Mom are enjoying your day. Be well, Tim…and stay safe…📆🙋🏻‍♀️
