  1. Good Morning, Everyone… 🔬LETS GET PHYSICScal…🔬

🎶 Let’s get PHYSICScal, PHYSICScal…I want to get PHYSICScal..Let’s get into PHYSICScal…Let me hear your body talk, your body talk…Let me hear your body talk…🎶 “Physical” – Olivia Newton John 1981 https://tinyurl.com/n4doffo

🔬 So looking at this chalkboard you may think you see a BLOTCH,
    But really it’s all formula…and taken up a notch…
The Einstein mind was GEYSER-like, the way the ideas flew,
But SLOWLY with the surely in his case definitely rang true
Just like in a CASINO where we play our games of chance,
All things here turned out relative…as others take a glance
Einstein took every AVENUE, the chalk ‘gainst INDIGO
And after all the research it was Voila…time to show…
The blood, the sweat, the tears were done there’ll be no more erases
The theory was he guaranteed to COVER ALL HIS “BASIS” 🔬

I’m really beat this morning…my heard HERTZ, and it took just about all my ENERGY to get this going ..But, all things being RELATIVE, the show goes on…So…There’s nothing new with our words today, they’re all TRIED and true favorites from 2019. But David has walked down the streets of Jumbleville before with NEUVEA, (albeit a long TIME ago, back in 2013)…And between GEYSER and CASINO, a few of the Early Birds were like…”Cease and THESIS with these words”…But as I always tell them…”Calm down and just keep your ION the prize. It’s the SOLVE that MATTERs.”. Sometimes they just need a good TORQUEing to, you know?…Anyway, with the BASIS covered here, let’s move on to our cartoon…

Having just seen Einstein https://tinyurl.com/obojphc gracing our pages in June, PUZZLE: https://tinyurl.com/y2z2y6e5 and POST:https://tinyurl.com/yxky8tvn , I was a little surprised to see him back so soon, but I opened my paper this morning…and THEORY is! Only today we’re seeing him as the Physicist, in 1905, whereas last time we were in 2017. Different TIME…And we’re seeing him PROVING to a panel of his peers that he worked long and hard to perfect the worlds most famous equation, E=mc2, the THEORY OF SPECIAL RELATIVITY, which formed part of the BASIS of modern physics. https://tinyurl.com/ycj7xg5c And his presentation shows what he went through to COVER ALL HIS “BASIS”. Now how clever is that? https://tinyurl.com/y5o5uf7q …Too bad there’s no Nobel Prize for Witticism and Puns. I’m POSITIVE that David would be a shoe-in…

Eye candy. Jeff’s definitely given us an amazing look into the mind of Einstein…it’s a great CEL! And the best part is…if you look real closely, down at the bottom? …The final workings of the formula are outlined…and Jeff added…“OR” E=mc2. In a box, in a nutshell…taking up a whole lot of SPACE. His whimsy gets me every TIME! …RELATIVELY speaking!

So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Enjoy your day…Be well, be safe…And remember… Never trust atoms, they make up everything…🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🙇🏻‍♂️Her habit of breaking into tears reminded him of a GEYSER, and her mood always seemed to project a BLOTCH of INDIGO, so he worried about bringing her with him to the CASINO…and as they SLOWLY walked down the AVENUE, he hoped he’d made sure to COVER ALL HIS BASES, as he checked his pocket for tissues…🙇🏻‍♂️

🤷🏻‍♂️ Exploding like a GEYSER, the hose hit him in the face,
And he knew that once again his son had left it out of place…
A BLOTCH began to form and it was turning INDIGO…
There’s no way he could hide it…this shiner would definitely show…
Life with this kid a crap shoot…like CASINO odds for sure,
How many times had he said…”Keep the hose off of the floor”
He tried more than one AVENUE, to get it through his head,
But his son just ignored him…so again much to his dread…
Another hose he’ll need to buy…his anger SLOWLY rising,
If this kid would just wind it up…now that would be surprising
Annoyed he went inside the house to see the bruise’s traces…
As for his son? How is he going to COVER ALL HIS BASES? 🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. Hi Everyone –
Tough words, even tougher answer for me. I eventually got all the words but gave up on the answer. I thought of “all his” and class, solve and basic, but never came close.
Angela, a segment on Olivia Newton John was just featured on Sunday Morning .

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Sundays are always slow here, but so far it looks like you’re not alone. I think it’s been a while since David’s given us a stumper on the level of this one. But, Olivia… that’s a coincidence! I never watch CBS, but I can pull up the segment online. I always liked her, and I feel for her battling her health issues all these years. Anyway…it’s a beautiful day for the Farmers Market…I hope you enjoy it! Be well, Caroline…and stay safe out there. 🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I’ll have to find that segment too since I missed most of it. Sunday Morning also had a segment today on Chadwick Boseman. I think it would be a good idea if the show one day did a feature on the Jumble, if it hasn’t already.
It’s a beautiful day here as well, but I didn’t spend long at the market, which wisely asks people to leave quickly.
Wishing you and all the same.

        • Chadwick Boseman…I’ve cried my eyes out. A heartbreak. It’s just too sad. 😪 And yes, that would be a good idea. I know David’s been on some morning shows in the past, and I think there’s a video of them on a show together. But speaking of wisely asking people to leave, Cuomo’s holding a press conference re:COVID-19, so I’m going to listen…Enjoy the beautiful weather, Caroline..I wish you a great day. 🙋🏻‍♀️

        • Caroline…I found the clip I was thinking of…only it wasn’t Chicago morning TV, it was Milwaukee. (I amended my other post)! 😂 You know me…no sense of direction..🤷🏻‍♀️.Spin me around and I’m in Timbuktu! 😂 Anyway, you can see it’s a few years old, so a lot of the content is dated, but it’s still relevant. And speaking of knowing me, the woman Molly may be a long-lost sister…She says something that makes me laugh. I bet you’ll guess what it is…I hope you enjoy this! 🙋🏻‍♀️
          https://tinyurl.com/y4odpvrk

      • I did enjoy the clip very much. Thanks. My guess is you are referring to Molly’s negative feelings about squirrels. I am not a big fan either.

        • LOL! Yep, I hate the little vermin..And I laugh when I hear Molly say if too…😂 I’m glad you enjoyed the video, Caroline and I hope you’re enjoying your night…🐿🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. I thought I had all the words correct but after giving up on the cartoon answer and double checking the words I find I didn’t have Geyser but my own word. Life is to short so I just gave up. Your song choice turned out to be the highlight on channel 2 regarding the girl from down under. God bless her. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. And yes, Caroline told me about Olivia, and I agree…God needs to keep her strong. Enjoy you day, Paul …Stay well and safe. 🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. I also erred on geyser, thinking ” g-e-r-se-y” instead, then “bases” instead of basis. No surprise for me,as the extra Sunday anagrams and extra letters usually throw me for a loop.Enjoy your Sunday.

    • Good Morning, Professor. I think today’s puzzle is throwing a good number of players for a loop. It’s definitely a good one. Hope your day’s going well, Prof…and keep safe out there. 🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Hi all – I didn’t have as much trouble as I expected at first glance. I recognized INDIGO, especially since the ING was shown together and probably wouldn’t stay that way in the word. Recognized GEYSER, saw CASINO since it’s one of my nemesis words, and the AV and the vowels showed AVENUE. I think we covered “The Blob” in enough detail the last time BLOTCH showed up. 😂
I thought the ‘V’ in the answer letters might give SOLVE ALL THE something, but the C and V showed COVER, and using HIS instead of THE gave the rest.

I agree, Jeff’s drawing is incredible today. I hope his eyes and hands are still in good shape after all that tiny detail (although I think I saw an error in line 4 😂).
The “E=mc^2” box is the only thing on the blackboard actually readable in my newspaper.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“The CASINO wanted to color their fake GEYSER, but the INDIGO dye also clogged the pipes, causing a huge BLOTCH to SLOWLY spread on the AVENUE in front.”

    • Hey Steve…It’s the same in all the papers…there’s no way that tiny printing could be reflected in such a small panel…but it sure looks good on line! And if you notice, that’s why I put this line in my poem…”So looking at this chalkboard you may think you see a BLOTCH”! 😉 I do try…😂 Have a good one, Steve…Be well and stay safe…Oh, and I could have sworn that I saw the error in line 6! 🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Steve…I forgot to mention…it wasn’t the E=mc2 that gave me the chuckle…it was the “OR”…😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. All the words came pretty quickly except, oddly, for CASINO. As a long time video poker player
I would have expected to ‘ace’ that word. I worked a while at the solution which needed 5 letter words first and last. CLASS has 5 and TEACH has five so I tried to bend those into the answer but it was just a ‘blotched’ attempt. I enjoyed the cartoon and all of your comments so on to the new week!

    • Oddly…and Ace…nicely played! 👏🏻👏🏻 And as you can see, you’re not the only one who “blotched”😉up today…Have a good one, Mig. Be well and stay safe out there…🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Got all the anagrams without difficulty but had to throw in the towel when it came to the cartoon answer. The only word I got was his, kept trying to figure out what to do with the “v” and nothing I was thinking worked. Really good puzzle this morning. Tomorrow is another day. Good wishes to you all.

    • Hi Betty. The key was the “gone through this again and again” and the “thoroughly thought out” = covering ones bases… But without the idiom coming into mind, it was definitely a long shot with the letters alone. And yes, a really good puzzle today. Hope you’re enjoying your day, Betty. Be well and stay safe out there. 🔬🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I knew that the clue was in the dialogue and I’m familiar with the idiom but it just didn’t come into mind. Better luck next time.

        • Hey Betty…Sometimes I wonder if the way I interpret the solve is even in the ballpark. If it’s the intent David and Jeff had …I could just be pushing the envelope…And speaking of ballpark, with this puzzle it probably helped to think Baseball.😉..even though it just isn’t the same this year…Hope you’re enjoying your night, Betty…Be well…stay safe. 🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Hard one today. I got all of the words, but couldn’t get the puzzle. My closest was “Voice all of his brass”. If Einstein played trumpet instead of violin it might have made sense. If I switched two letters, i and r, and rearranged, I would have had it. I never saw cover or basis though. Till next time…

    • Hi Dennis. As I had mentioned to Betty, the dialogue immediately gave me the idiom…I guess without knowing the phrase the letters would be stumpers. But I always do the solve by the cartoon, and then I do the words. You have to keep in mind though that it’s really important to study the dialogue. The clues are always there. The 2 big hints that I cited were key. And of course by seeing the quotation marks, I knew there was a play on words in there, so Bases, (as in covering your Bases), was replaced by BASIS…(ie) the formula was the BASIS for his theory…It’s amazingly clever. And your trumpet THEORY gave me a chuckle! 😂 Thanks for commenting, Dennis. Be well and stay safe out there…🔬🙋🏻‍♀️
