  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. 🔥 HEAT, DRINK…AND BE MERRY? 🔥

🎶 Hot town, SUMMER in the city…Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty…Been down, isn’t it a pity…Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city…🎶 “Summer In The City” – The Lovin’ Spoonful 1966 https://tinyurl.com/y53ovruo

🔥 While wintertime brings on the cold, it’s different with the heat,
You only can shed just so much…and still remain discreet…
With cold we easily bundle up, and GYRATE with a chill,
And sweaters with a MOOSE motif might sometimes fit the bill…
But often when we face a day where temperatures start to climb,
It can get pretty stifling…the depths of Summertime
The air heavy, humidity will EJECT at it’s will…
It’s definitely not DRIVEL..there’s no breeze, the air is still.
So beads of sweat upon our brows, as we see on these three
Become our badge of courage and we cope TO A DEGREE …🔥

Today’s puzzle…no SWEAT. Easy, BREEZY…No pun intended…And while I was always easily able to WARM UP to the heat before, lately for some SEASON I find that I’m no longer such a big FAN…I guess my tolerance has just changed TO A (certain) DEGREE…Wishing you all a good day…Be well, be safe….and WEATHER you enjoy the heat or not…stay COOL…And here’s a little atTEMPt at humor…

I like the Air Condition on blast, but my significant other usually complains that it’s too cold. So the other day I just told him to go stand in a corner…After all, it’s 90 degrees..🎤🔥🙋🏻‍♀️

    • My wife and I have the same AC battle, she likes it colder, and I like it warmer.I think it’s a male vs female thing. I used to work summers at a statistical research center at the Hines VA Hospital,In Maywood, outside of Chicago, and it was the same AC battle there,w the women wanting it colder( not just cooler),and we men preferring it not as cold.

      • LOL! Good Morning, Professor. I like your share, and I think there’ll always be the battle of hot vs cold, (in fact I’ve seen some knock-down, drag-out fights)…but I was just closing with a joke…you know…trying to gauge the temperature of the room! 😉Hope your morning’s going well, Prof…And stay safe out there…🔥🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🦌 He enjoyed hunting for MOOSE, but he wished he could EJECT the guide, since the DRIVEL that he was forced to listen to, plus the man’s propensity to GYRATE as he spoke, just annoyed him TO A DEGREE…🦌

🪂 They all decided that they would EJECT from an airplane,
And just because his name was MOOSE they figured he’d be game
But being big and burly doesn’t necessarily mean
That one is brave and daring…that’s just DRIVEL so it seems
So as he stood the next in line to jump he had such doubt,
He felt his body GYRATE and he had to turn about…
“Forget it guys, but there’s no way I’m floating clear and free
I’m not that brave… The truth be told? I’m scared TO A DEGREE”…🪂

  3. Good morning. I had a long pause on Gyrate. In fact it was a complete stand still so I went to the cartoon looking for a quick solve and low and behold I had a blind solve. Knowing the three letters I needed made Gyrate pop right up. Loved the slight hiccup. Enjoyed you song choice Angela. By the way, the other Angie is now the best player on the court. Since she gets there by ten to play with the early birds she has now taken over as best player. Things are a lot quieter since we voted out the guy everybody hates and the other trouble maker with two others didn’t re-up. They expected the dues to be free since we couldn’t play for so long. I’m looking forward to next years dues because the ones that didn’t join have to pay $30 instead of $20. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. I like your “standing still” reference to Gyrate! 👏🏻 As for its DEGREE of difficulty, it was a bit of a stumper last time out, but today it seems to be doing some serious damage so far…But yes, the solve is a BREEZE…And I’m happy for you that you guys finally weeded out the trouble makers…it should now be a much more enjoyable, albeit shortened SEASON. Glad you liked the music, Paul…and I hope you have a good one. Be well, and stay safe out there…🔥🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. On another non heat related note, the anagrams were a snap as was the cartoon solution, with degree an obvious multiple ‘E’ word.A nice day here in W Central Illinois,on my Birthday!

  5. Hi Everyone – Gyrate foiled me as well until I had the answer and could back in. The puzzle was well timed with the heat wave out west. I hope those in California and elsewhere are managing OK.
Where I live, I can generally cope by using ceiling fans and opening windows when it’s cool. Having trees helps a lot.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Considering how the puzzles are submitted five to six weeks prior to being published, it always gets me how some seem to turn out so timely. And you’re right, todays definitely does. We’re just emerging from a pretty brutal two week stretch of way hotter than normal temps, and what’s happening out west is another example of the crazy weather patterns we’re now facing. And I envy you…I love opened windows and ceiling fans…but most of the time the humidity here could choke a horse…so we rarely get to enjoy that in Summer. But on a lighter note, your “foiled” made me think of this. https://tinyurl.com/y2x6vzqt..
I could watch these cartoons for hours on end…and crack up every time…I hope it brings you a laugh…Be well, Caroline…and stay safe out there…🔥🙋🏻‍♀️

        • YVW, Caroline. When you have the time, you should check Dudley out on YouTube…Hysterical. And as with so many cartoons back then, the innuendo is priceless! Have a good night, Caroline! 🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. No problem with the words or cartoon this morning, certainly apropos for our weather here. We’re literally cookin in California – 130 degrees in Death Valley the other day. Most homes in S.F. Do not have air conditioning so we just open windows, use fans and whine until we hear the music of the Fog Horns announcing that our natural AC is returning. Happy Birthday Chuck. A shout out to Tennessee the state that solidified Women’s Suffrage 100 years ago today.

    • My heart’s with you, Betty…I hope the heat breaks soon. And I hope too that we women take that right that was finally won for us 100 years ago and do justice with it. Be well, Betty…and stay safe. 🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. No problem Tuesday methinks…. As I open the paper to the puzzle I always try to just solve the words by scanning the letters, today all of the letters fell into place. The solution was only tougher to a degree. Triple digits are here again in Cally so it was a timely Jumble. Have fun, stay cool and turn up the AC!

  8. Hi all – I suspected the ‘Y’ was not at the end of the last word, and saw GYRATE when I wrote the letters down, since ‘G’ was first. DRIVEL stumped me though. I thought the answer was IN A something, but the letters I got from the first three words showed DEGREE, which gave me the answer and the letters I needed to get DRIVEL.

So nice of Jeff to draw a special cartoon for Betty and me today! 😂 And yes, we’re so over these temperatures – I’m not a big FAN of them either.

Perfect song today Angela, and I could hear my mother’s voice in your comments, because she also always said she’d rather be too cold than too warm because you could add layers of clothes and turn up the heat, but there was nothing really all that effective when you were too hot (we never had air conditioning despite living on the East Coast.)

That was ACUTE ANGLE on your joke too, not OBTUSE at all.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“The DRIVEL her student began to spout about how he was late because he had to ‘brake for MOOSE’ that would GYRATE in the road to his New Hampshire school caused the teacher to EJECT him from the classroom.”

    • LOL! No, not Obtuse at all! 👏🏻👏🏻 And of course…there couldn’t be any other song to fit this puzzle any better…The opening of it still blows (no pun intended) me away after all these years…But it’s your sentence that really made me LOL…I remember the “brake for Moose” being one of the first back-and-forths you had here with Mike. I think you said you found a magnet…Have a good one, Steve. Be well, stay safe…And try to keep cool out there…🦌🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Yes, 1) love the street noise throughout the song, and 2) that magnet is still attached to the kitchen stove. Ah, the treasures from the thrift store! I think they’re open, but we don’t want to risk going.
Just like today’s Jumble, sitting here with the fan on.

        • Hey Steve…I can’t believe I remembered that…especially the magnet part…sometimes I really surprise myself! 😂 But fan? No AC? Yikes…The agony of the heat! Hope the night gets cooler for you…🙋🏻‍♀️
