Good Morning, Everyone…🧹IT’S MEALY ALL ONE BIG MESS…TAKE! 🧹
🎶 I’m in the Army now,..I’m not behind a plow;…I’ll never get rich on the salary which I get in the Army now….🎶 “I’m in the Army Now” – Carson Robison 1941 https://tinyurl.com/yxfd7bfj
🧹If they don’t wipe that paint up quick, a GUMMY pool may form
And going by the looks of this…this job is not the norm…
I guess nobody did IMPEL these guys to do things neat,
Or maybe time is running out, it’s SHRINK deadline to meet…
And since they’re in the Army, with no SALARY for this,
The looks upon these faces show there’s definitely no bliss..
They’re going through the motions, getting it done more or less
But it’s sure pretty obvious…they’re just MAKING A MESS…🧹
Before I dish out todays analysis, I’d like to take a moment to back up to Sunday’s puzzle. We had the word BESIDE, and I had said that I couldn’t find it in the Archives…much to my surprise. Well, I found some extra time, and I was able to really sink my teeth into my pieceMEAL records…And voila! There it was…March 1st, 2012, and April 22nd, 2014. Definitely going way back…a BITE for sore eyes, right? Anyway, as I had mentioned, it kept GNAWing away at me, so I had to keep looking. BeCOURSE when it comes to these puzzles, Folks…I feel you all deSERVE the very best…
Ok, today. One repeat anagram PMILE, and once again, it looks like David’s added something new to the menu…GUMMY. (And until I see differently, I’ll stick with that)…But in the meantime, our other three words are all left overs…
So even if you’re not familiar with the Military term “Mess” or “Mess Hall”, https://tinyurl.com/yy6zfv27 , it’s pretty obvious from what we’re seeing here today, that these guys definitely don’t adhere to the principle that neatness counts… I guess there wasn’t a Sergeant around to drill it into them… Paint spilling, dishes falling, a random plank of sawed-off lumber and it’s dust lying idle…and that stove being moved in? Dented before it’s even put into place…These guys are definitely MAKING A MESS! ..MEN, U really need to get it together!
So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Wishing you all a good day…And let’s all be a little more conscientious than this group here…and not settle for just MEALing it in! 🧹🙋🏻♀️
PS…Forgot to mention…way back through the open doors? You can see our Flag flying…I didn’t mean to WAIVE it…🇺🇸🙋🏻♀️
👕 Being distracted wondering why the laundromat owner didn’t IMPEL the woman to mop up the GUMMY fabric softener that she spilt on the floor, MAKING A MESS, he set the wrong water temperature and realized that his new sweater would definitely SHRINK…another drain on his SALARY! 👕
🐻 He closely watched as profits more and more began to SHRINK,
Would this IMPEL him to cut staff? He hated that to think…
His GUMMY Bear endeavor had done well and he was proud
But now things changed and he found himself under debtors cloud…
He’d given up his SALARY, but still found things hard-pressed
So sad that it came down to this …losses MAKING A MESS! 🐻
Good morning. Another successful morning and all before a cup of coffee even. No problem with the words or cartoon answer. You really went into the archives for that song Angela. Loved it and to my surprise I never picked up on the hint for the answer regarding the mess hall. My name was picked out of a hat in Guantánamo when we got there and I had the mess hall for the first two weeks. Until tomorrow stay well.
Get out, Brooklyn…You missed the MESS Hall reference? Even after having been there, done that??? Did you have those blueberries yet this morning? 😂 Just breaking them, Bud! But it’s definitely a clever one, right? Made me LOL…David never ceases to amaze me…And the song? I just couldn’t get it out of my head…I’m glad you enjoyed it…Have a good one, Paul…Be well and stay safe out there…🧹🙋🏻♀️
Brooklyn..I just realized..I should have said..VET out before! 😂😂 🙋🏻♀️
Morning, Everyone – I hadn’t heard that song for a long, long time. My vote today went to Impel, which I had to back into.
Good Morning, Caroline. Long, long time is right…I even had some trouble finding it on YouTube. 😉 And it looks like you’re not alone…IMPEL’s ahead in the polls. Wishing you a great day. Caroline. Be well and stay safe out there…🧹🙋🏻♀️
Even though not an army vet,I was familiar w the term,”mess hall”, so the overall solution,as were the anagrams, was a quick solve.A rare Saturday, home away from twin watching, but, a nice cooler day here in WCentral Illinois.Enjoy the weekend.
Good Morning Professor. Definitely another easy, breezy…and maybe you can send some of that cool air this way…we could surely use it. Be well and stay safe out there, Prof. 🧹🙋🏻♀️
Two ‘y’ words, both as the last letter. Too easy.
Impel took a while for me. I tried in my head impel, but pronounced it imp-el (rhymes with simple). I finally got it when I decided to write down possibilities. The first one I wrote was limpe, which made me realize the correct word was impel (just move the l to the end). I guess I was too simple-minded today.
Good Morning, Dennis…Hardly simple-minded at all…(although I do appreciate the little play on words)! 😉 IMPEL’s not a word we hear every day. But if I may offer a little tip…I always have like a gazillion words floating around in my head…and once in a while I’m not positive of the pronunciation of one or two. What I do is Google it…Ex..Impel definition- https://tinyurl.com/y3wlo5gb…With each definition, you get that little microphone icon, and by pressing it, it gives you the correct pronunciation…I find it really helpful, especially when I’m composing a rhyme. Anyway, just thought I’d pass it on. Thanks for commenting, Dennis…and here’s to staying well and keeping safe! 🧹🙋🏻♀️
I guess IM not paid enough to get ‘salary’…..
ROTFL! Well you could shake hands with me, Mig! I haven’t seen a dime since I started here! 😂😂 ! Thanks for the laugh…Be well and stay safe out there!
Hi all – No problem with the words except for seeing “muggy” instead of “gummy” at first. The answer was obvious – I watched too many early TV comedies like “You’ll Never Get Rich” with Sgt. Bilko, where GI’s were always “pulling KP duty peeling spuds in the mess.” (Written before I saw your song post as always Angela! 😂 )
Good wishes to everyone.
“The GUMMY residue left on his couch would IMPEL the SHRINK to reverse his decision to SHRINK the SALARY of his cleaning crew.”
…And guess what? Lou still whistles the song every time he peels potatoes! And EYE always get a laugh out of it! Good wishes to you too, Steve…Be well and stay safe! 🥔🙋🏻♀️
Good thing he doesn’t sing it, because the lyrics I know don’t quite match the ones from your link! 😂
Yea, there’s a few versions out there…Like most things, the lyrics changed along with the times..(But he does sing a little)! 😉🙋🏻♀️
Another easy one today. Words and cartoon answer fell into place nicely. Hope all of you remain well and have a good Saturday.
Yes, it is Betty. And as always, cute and clever. Wishing you a good one too, Betty…Be well and stay safe out there…🧹🙋🏻♀️
If you’re a fan of comic strips, here’s an article you may find interesting……https://tinyurl.com/yyzzkree….Although I was doing the Jumble back then, and I don’t agree with her analogy…🤷🏻♀️
Finish my days in the army and navy now that I’m 80 so I refuse to get up at 6 am in the morning . It’s August 3 today and I’ve just finished the jumble . T’was easy and my song that I always had in my head in my younger days was: How I hate to get up in the morning🎶 Specially the part that said “I’ll murder the bugler”!!!!
Christian
Good Afternoon, Christian. Let me be the first to say that your having reached the beautiful age of 80 gives you free rein to do and say as you absolutely please…You’ve earned it all…And in keeping with your choice of music…this is for you. I hope you enjoy it….Be well and safe, Sir and I wish you a wonderful day…🙋🏻♀️
Just loved it! Thanks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍
Once in a while it comes back to me! My profession was teaching and some morning I wanted to murder the alarm clock!!!
Christian
You’re very welcome, Christian… I enjoyed hearing it myself! And I hear you with the alarm clocks…I think we’ve all been there…at one TIME or another! ⏰🙋🏻♀️
