Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…🧂🙋🏻♀️
🎶 Let’s drink to the hard working people…Let’s drink to the SALT OF THE EARTH….Let’s drink to the two thousand million….Let’s think of the humble of birth…🎶 “Salt of the Earth” – The Rolling Stones 1968 https://tinyurl.com/yxzt7rla
🧂 Quite recently the phrase came up…in serious conversation,
Covid-19 and those people who’ve been serving our Nation,
Maybe a THORNY subject here, but it’s what comes to mind
Those who have left their HEARTH and home not knowing what they’d find…
They’re dealing with the MAYHEM, they’re keeping life AFLOAT,
They’re BITTEN by a dedication…and there is no gloat…
I look at them with wonder, these brave and noble souls
‘Cause night and day they toil, lest a SEQUEL may enfold…
There are no finer people…how could we measure worth?
The Doctors and the Nurses…truly THE SALT OF THE EARTH…🧂
Ok, so maybe it’s not what David had in mind…but then again, maybe it was. Either way, it’s the first thing that came to mind with the immediate solve of the puzzle…And THE SALT OF THE EARTH https://tinyurl.com/y6hpvp26 did come up in conversation the other night while discussing how these extraordinarily brave men and women of the medical field are keeping the hearts of our country beating…And that’s my take on it today…
Some eye candy…In the classroom lab scene, there’s a small pyramid of salt before the Teacher. An opened box of salt depicts a character that’s a satirical take on the Morton Salt Girl.. https://tinyurl.com/y4nnnv44, walking beneath her opened umbrella. And we see a beaker and a symbol reading Na-Cl…SALT…https://tinyurl.com/percyd5. And where the Teacher’s speaking of the importance of Salt in our lives, we have the class clown going for the GOLD…EN Arches…and his French fries! …There’s one in every crowd, right?
So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Wishing you all a good day…Be well and stay safe out there…🧂🙋🏻♀️
🐕 Things got a little THORNY when after having been BITTEN by her neighbors dog as they sat around the HEARTH watching the SEQUEL to the MAYHEM of the “Terminator”, Sara wanted to keep the relationship AFLOAT, since she did consider the neighbor and his wife to be THE SALT OF THE EARTH…🐕
🌲He liked the THORNY bushes…for their branches worked quite well,
As wood for his HEARTH’s fireplace, something that made him kvell…
Sure he’d been often “BITTEN”, by a thorn prick here and there
But each and every SEQUEL wasn’t all that much to bear…
It’s not that it caused MAYHEM, and besides he liked to gloat
That it was costing nothing as he kept his fires AFLOAT
He’s thinking maybe he may share some with his cousin Bert
Whose finances are hurting and who’s THE SALT OF THE EARTH…🌲
I agree with your thoughts, Angela, about the dedicated and brave doctors and nurses risking their lives. And the many others working on the front lines. Thanks for your insights into the puzzle.
I got TAHHER wrong twice, first as Heather (7 letters!) and then as Rather. When I couldn’t get beyond “The salt of,” I checked and found my mistakes.
Good Morning, Caroline..Thank you. I think the two H’s placed together made the anagram a little harder to solve..but I found it amusing the it contained the word EARTH in it…Be well, Caroline, and stay safe…🧂🙋🏻♀️
I got rather too
Sequel was looking like a misspelled squeal to me at first, but with the NACL,sodium chloride reference,”the salt of the earth” was a ready cartoon solution, despite the misplaced q and e in sque-el,rather than the correct sequel solution.
Good Morning, Professor…Yes, it is an easy, ready-made solution, thanks to Jeff putting enough hints in the cartoon to spell it out for us! Be well, Prof and stay safe…🧂🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. Loved it this morning. I had to really think hard to get every word. My choice for hardest was Sequel. When it came time for the cartoon answer it was a blind solve. Just love 💕 that expression. He was a good guy, he was the salt of the earth. Until tomorrow stay well.
Agree on both counts,w my also having trouble w sequel, and then pretty much a blind solve for the cartoon solution.Fortunately I had physical attendance at school,so do have a somewhat command of the Englush language ,more so than the current school age student population.
Good Morning, Brooklyn. I love the expression too…and I’m sure after all your years of being married to an Italian, you’ve heard your fair share of it…We beat the expression to death! 😉 Have a good one, Paul…Be well and stay safe out there…🧂🙋🏻♀️
Hi all – Got the words pretty quickly except for HEARTH. I kept seeing the wrong double letter, as in THREAT, RATHER or THEATER. Figured TH would be in there and finally saw the HEAR prefix. Got the first word from a pinball machine (😂) – “Cactus Jack” which has a random bonus award called “THORNY Surprise.”
The answer wasn’t too hard after writing the letters and figuring that “the of the” was in there and seeing SALT.
“No personality”?! I know I’ve posted this before, but Kate and Anna McGarrlgle beg to differ – NaCl is the product of an intense love affair! 😂 https://tinyurl.com/kamgNACL
You made me laugh out loud Angela! I just finished preparing a link to the Rolling Stones (which said I hadn’t thought of the song in a LONG time), then looked at the blog! Obviously an excellent choice! 😂
Good wishes to everyone.
“As a SEQUEL to his cozy first date, which was a nightcap by the HEARTH, he wanted to produce his own Tequila Sunrise, but MAYHEM was AFLOAT when he was BITTEN by a tarantula hiding in the THORNY agave cactus.”
I watched some baseball yesterday and it wasn’t quite as weird as I expected, but it got me wondering whether, during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field tonight, a digitally altered voice of Harry Caray would sing
🎵”Don’t take me out to the ballgame
Keep me away from the crowd
Buy me a sealed pack of Cracker Jack
Sold in a Lyft from the back of his hack…”🎵
🎶 Let me root, root, root for the home team…If they get sick who’s to blame? ..For it’s one, two…weeks you’ll be out of the old ballgame!…🎶 😉 Have a good one, Steve…Be well and stay safe out there…⚾️😷🙋🏻♀️
