Good Morning, Everyone….      🥇A MOST NOBEL GESTURE 🥇

🎶 Many are called…But the CHOSEN are few…You are my PRIZE POSSESSION…🎶 “Prize Possession” – The Isley Brothers  2003

🥇 It sounds kind of ironic, that explosives equals peace,
But it’s true that Nobel did choose a medal to release
It might have seemed the ODDEST thing, but he made no EXCUSE,
Amongst his other choices this one hardly was a ruse…
With half the ZODIAC number, the medals number six,
But before 1969 at five the number fixed…
While nothing SPORTY is involved, the other arts withstand,
And nominees all hinge their hopes…with some just by a STRAND
A SPRAIN may conjure up the thought of Medicines acclaim…
(Yes I know it’s pedestrian…but rhyming here’s the name)
The bottom line? Nobel did choose to reward five professions…
And thus his wealth went on to be some very PRIZED POSSESSIONS 🥇

Instead of going through the whole explanation of today’s topic, the Nobel Peace Prize, I’ve decided to just pin this link here, where you can read about it should you choose. That way I can guarantee I won’t have to field any questions…Maybe not the nobelest move on my part…but hey…I never claimed to be a prize…I mean I’m definitely a pleasant sort, and we do have good chemistry between us, but I’m really mentally and physicsally beat this morning…So I’m just going to let those amongst you who’re interested in the literature to take it upon yourselves to do the leg work. As I said, I’m exhausted, and I’ll probably down some medicine with a cup of herbal tea right after this and just get some rest…Or maybe it’ll be some Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate…I haven’t made my final decision yet….

Ok, moving on…Nothing new in the way of words this morning, been there done that. And all of our six have appeared as recently as 2019 and ‘20. The oddest one though? RIPNAS was presented as is, way back on August 28th, 2013. So it takes the prize this morning for being the only repeat anagram. And the stumper? The word that had the Early Birds all competing with one another? The one with the most votes? SPORTY. And I think it’s because we’re all so starved for sports…Especially Baseball…We definitely miss seeing our boys out on the field…Sigh…Anyway, that’s it for the word peace of our puzzle. So let’s now put the pedal to the medal and will be done for today…

The year 1895. Alfred Nobel, the noted philanthropist, sits in his office, dictating his will to two gentlemen whom we can assume to be his lawyers. Is that right? Whom? I know there’s all that he/him, she/her rule in there somewhere, but for some reason, I always seem to have trouble with it. And no, I’m not gun shy when it comes to using “assume”, either…Once you know the joke…it’s all water under the dam, right? And anyway, if I’m not shying away from announcing my ignorance with the whole who and whom thing….why would I worry about that? I’m a medalsome sort when it comes to things like this…So, ok…our solution. Our dialogue’s telling us that Nobel chose to have his money be awarded to a yearly winner, in the form of a medal. And the prestigious awards would be among any recipients most PRIZED POSSESSIONS…And that’s a winner of a solve!

Eye Candy? The prize is awarded to the left-handed lawyer…I love seeing a southpaw in a cartoon…

So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a wonderful day…Be well and stay safe…And I’ll leave you with a little bit of Nobel Prize humor…The inventor of the Knock-Knock joke should get a Nobel Prize… Get it? No BELL…Yeah, I had a feeling you’ve heard it before, but I just figured I’d…🎶 Give Peace A Chance…🎶

  1. 🧍🏻‍♀️He watched her, as she brushed a STRAND of hair from her face in the ODDEST manner, and wondered what EXCUSE she had for dressing in such a SPORTY manner…especially considering that it only made the brace that she wore for the SPRAIN in her ankle all the more obvious…I bet her ZODIAC sign is Aries he thought…and maybe the outfit’s one of her most PRIZED POSSESSIONS…🧍🏻‍♀️

🤷🏻‍♂️ He hardly cared for Horoscopes, the ZODIAC a joke,
He’d often say the ODDEST things as fun of it he’d poke…
Who worried that they’d SPRAIN an arm, or think of themselves STRAND
To him just one more EXCUSE for society’s less planned…
The ones who’d drive their SPORTY cars he’d hardly give a mention…
These people with their foibles…they’d turn into PRIZED POSSESSIONS 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • Good Morning, Caroline. I’m glad you enjoyed the joke. I’m a sucker for a dumb joke, but I’ve been told many a time that I’m usually not all that good with my delivery…Maybe I just do better “on paper”! 😉. And good call with pulling PRIZE out of the mix…that was the key. Thanks for the article…nice segue…it’s been a while since I’ve thought about the peace sign. Hope your day goes well, Caroline. Stay safe…🥇🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Good morning. No problem with today’s words,I went through it lickety-split but had a mental freeze on the cartoon answer. I don’t know if it was because of those 17 letters I saw or what but I would love to have that blank void when trying to sleep at night. By now you guessed correct in that I took a short cut and looked up the simple solution. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn…I like lickety-split! And I’m soooo with you on the sleep thing. I too do some serious wrestling with sleep issues…I did before, but now? Fuggedaboutit…It’s so tiring! 😉 And I give you Kudos for banging through the words…Be well, Paul. Stay safe…🥇🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Words came easily this morning. Had to ponder a bit on the cartoon answer, first had prizes then when I switched it to prized, possessions came into view so all in all it was a successful morning. Hope all of you have a good day.

    • Hi Betty…Another WINNER of a puzzle! Wishing you a good day too. Be well, stay safe. 🥇🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Hi all – This was an unusual Sunday puzzle for me because even with a long answer, I didn’t really have trouble with any of it. I had to jumble SPORTY a few times to get it, and the Z in the answer gave away “Prized” and the rest.

    Good wishes to everyone.

I also had never heard the “knock-knock” joke, and liked it!

“It was the ODDEST EXCUSE anyone had even heard when the SPORTY guy said it was running under the wrong sign of the ZODIAC that caused him to SPRAIN his ankle jogging along the ocean STRAND.”

    • Hey Steve…Silly joke, but funny…And I like your Ocean STRAND…👏🏻👏🏻 Be well, stay safe. 🥇🙋🏻‍♀️
