Jumble Answers for 02/03/2020

Happy Monday, everyone! JUMBO looks like one of those words that’s been used a dozen times, but it’s actually ringing up as new. All of the anagrams solved rather easily which, quite honestly, has come to be expected from our early offerings. CINLPE would be my pick for today’s hardest anagram. It was the only scramble that wasn’t fairly obvious, but it solved just as easily once I altered the position of the P.

It looks like our silicon cowboy is swearing off technology! We’ve all had one of those days when the stuff that’s supposed to make our lives easier causes more problems than it’s worth. I know that there have been times when I wanted to toss my laptop or iPad on the ground and give it a two-step shuffle, but I’m just not that kind of guy. I’m pretty sure it would be cathartic too, but that would quickly change when the reality of the situation started to set in.

The expression on the face of the rodeo clown was absolutely priceless. And the one being worn by the bull rider wasn’t half bad either. I really liked how Jeff had the bull watching the whole situation just behind the gate. And did you catch the frowning face on the laptop screen? It was in the shape of a square and the eye’s were replaced with X’s. It kind of says it all, doesn’t it?

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 10-letters. Since the solution had two smaller words, I figured that I’d give those a shot first. UP came straight away and I was split between IT and TO for the second. Sitting back for a moment allowed BOOT to come into focus and the rest of the solution clicked into place. A great puzzle to start off our week! Have a merry Monday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

  1. Hi all, wherever you are. The parties yesterday must have been good! No trouble with the words or answer, but I did notice that PENCIL is starting to look like an archaic word.

Have a great day everyone, even 49er fans!

β€œHe had to PENCIL in the numbers to see it, but then realized the JUMBO fine from the health department would PRETTY much DOUSE any hope of turning a profit at his restaurant this year.”

Well, I asked for a fun exciting game and I got it. Can’t be *too* disappointed after getting a magical Super Bowl season a year after going 4-12, Kansas City deserved the win with yet another amazing postseason comeback, and I had to smile seeing Andy Reid finally win the big one and assure his place in the Hall of Fame.

    • Hi, Steve! KC fans might not want to admit it but the performance at the end by Mahomes reminded me of a (younger) Tom Brady. It’ll definitely be remembered as one of the more memorable Super Bowls. πŸ™‚

      • True enough, but for us 49er fans old enough to have watched it, what came to mind because of all the similarities was Joe Montana after the 1988 season winning it at the end in the exact same stadium. Cris Collinsworth *still* hasn’t gotten over it! πŸ˜‚ (You’re no Joe quite yet Jimmy! πŸ˜‚) From Wikipedia:
β€œThe game is best remembered for the 49ers’ fourth-quarter game-winning drive. Down 16–13, San Francisco got the ball on their own 8-yard line with 3:10 on the clock and marched 92 yards down the field in under three minutes. They then scored the winning touchdown on a Joe Montana pass to John Taylor with just 34 seconds left in the game.”

Speaking of Jimmy G, check out this picture of actor Tyrone Power! Maybe we need to do a DNA test! πŸ˜‚

  2. Easy one today. Got all the anagrams and cartoon answer easily. Totally agree with you about yesterday’s Super Bowl, Steve. It was a good game even though the Niners fell apart. One can’t begrudge the win to a fantastic Chief’s team and it’s especially sweet for them after 50 years. Andy Reid looked awesome. Hats off to Kansas City!! 🎩 🏈

    • Hi, Betty! I was fooled into thinking that it was easy money when the 49ers pulled ahead shortly after halftime. Mahomes was nothing short of spectacular and he definitely deserved the big win. πŸ™‚

  3. ✏️ After the teacher gave her the PRETTY JUMBO PENCIL as the prize, she was so proud, until in all the excitement, she BOOTED IT UP into the air…and it caused her glass of milk to DOUSE her desk…βœοΈπŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

🏈 πŸ†Without a horse in LIV, I took it all in stride,
I liked them both, although I slowly inched towards San Fran’s side
The game evenly matched for sure, PRETTY good plays we saw,
You’d PENCIL in the Niners….then the Chiefs would call their flaw…
The JUMBO plays went back and forth, a game of cat and mouse,
But in the end β€˜twas Andy who the Gatorade did DOUSE
The Chiefs waited a long, long time to drink from winners cup…
And took that final run until they def BOOTED IT UP πŸ†πŸˆ
