WHEN SHE FOUND OUT HOW MANY CALORIES WERE IN HER CAN OF COLA, IT WAS – – –

GID OSE ASN SPR = SODA-PRESSING

Good Morning, Everyone!  🥤WEIGHING…THE BODS?🥤

🎶 Drinkin’ Rum and Coca-Cola…Go down Point Koomahnah…Both mother and daughter workin’ for the Yankee dollar…Rum and Coca-Cola…Rum and Coca-Cola…Workin’ for the Yankee dollar…🎶 “Rum and Coca-Cola” – The Andrew Sisters 1945

🥤 I’m guilty of a lot of things…and one is drinking soda,
I try my best to compensate, because I know I oughta…
I used to often SPIRAL self-control cast to the wind,
But now I’m buying seltzer, and the soda I rescind…
CASINO dwellers understand, you feel just one more time,
But I’ve been learning to enjoy the lemon and the lime…
Of course temptation has AROSE, and yes, I have my guilt,
(Oh, GUILD is what I should have used..an error I have spilt)!
So like our girls we see today, I understand their stressing,
I’ll drink to that…because I know…It can be “SODA-PRESSING

Ok, so let’s be honest here. Calories. Definitely a heavy subject, am I right? Especially at this time of the year? I mean, let’s not sugar coat it…There’s so much good food and drink to look forward to over the next two weeks, and I’m pretty sure that the last thing we want to think about is calories. Let’s face it, it’s kind of like being in FANTAsy land, don’t you think?…Have you noticed recently how we’ve been pounded over the head with so much talk of weight gain? Example:  If I’m at home early mornings, I always have the news on, which then segues into the morning shows. And as I’m sure many of you have seen, lately there’s been all these segments on how you can enjoy yourself at the numerous Holiday gatherings, while “still” counting calories...See, here’s my (in)take on all this…Again, as many of you may know, Math’s not my strong suit. It was just never a good fit. I mean I’ve always balanced my checkbook, and I’ve never bounced a check. And I can handicap a horse race and count cards at Blackjack…but counting calories?...I’ve just never developed a taste for it. So these suggestions for satisfying your taste buds, while not waisting calories? Uh, maybe next year. Kale chips and skinless poultry? Uh…definitely next year. And I SIPpose not before January 7th either, because as an Italian, we “Christmas” until “Little Christmas”, which falls on the 6th. So, I just want to put it out there… If today’s puzzle’s got you feeling a little depressed?…Perhaps once again about calories? How ’bout we all just relax, and weight until the Holidays are over to keep TABs on ourselves…And until then, if you really feel the need to burn calories? Lettuce just celebrate…and overheat a pizza…

So, da was nothing new today in the weigh of our words, they’re all sweet repeats, but our anagrams are all newly minted. And after pouring through the Archives this morning, I can tell you that GUILD takes the cake…(no pun intended)…as both the oldest (10/19/10) and the most recent (05/25/19) of our entrées…I mean entries. And I’d also like to add that CASINO was in play so many times throughout the years – both the word itself and as a puzzle theme – that I’ve completely lost count…Anyway, with all our words being pretty much of a SNAPple this morning, let’s just can this idle chatter, and take a look at our cartoon…

Today, Jumble fans, we have a lesson in POP culture. Finding ourselves in what could be a kitchen somewhere in MinneSODA, we come upon three women, Ginger, Fanta, and Cherry, (left to right), having lunch at a CREAM-colored table. Each has a can of soda in hand, and the question of sugar pops up…We hear them LIMEnting about how heavily laden each can is with the sweet carb, and how many calories are cantained in what they’re drinking…And we can definitely see a frown on each of their mugs. Realizing there may be a problem, and getting down to the ROOT…BEER ing the brunt, so to speak, we can hear Cherry exclaim…”Darn it”…So suffice to say, there’s a SURGE in their fattitudes …And it’s all just “SODA-PRESSING“! But before they’ll have a need to COLA DR. BROWN, I guess they’ll do what Cherry’s saying and add another thing to that growing list of things to avoid…Definitely a bitter pill to swallow

Ok…Eye candy? The Sweet spot? One can’t help but notice how down they all look. No PEP, SEE? Despite the fact that they all seem to be eating responsibly…since we see a salad, a sandwich, and a wrap. But I think the eye catcher has to be Cherry…she’s CRUSHing her can! Must really be a soft drink right, or she’s just a lot more frustrated then we can see. And I guess it is better than her pounding the table! So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Have a great day, Everyone, and ORANGE you all glad it’s Friday? Enjoy your weekend, and remember…When the Holidays are over, we’ll definitely CRUSH it. There’ll be plenty of LIME for some avoCARDIO then…🥤🙋🏻‍♀️

  1. 🙇🏻‍♂️ He found it all SO DEPRESSING, when after volunteering at the GUILD, a problem AROSE and things began to SPIRAL out of control, when the incident in the CASINO occurred…🙇🏻‍♂️

🎲 She walked through the CASINO…her spirts once AROSE,
She couldn’t wait to shoot some craps, envisioning the throws…
The GUILD was here to spend some time, their video gone viral,
And celebrating they have been…their happiness ‘aSPIRAL
She warned them all to pace themselves, have fun without the stressing…
And put a cap on what they’ll lose, ‘fore things get SO DEPRESSING 🎲

    • Good Morning, Ruby. Nice to meet you…I love your name! And all I can say is…how lucky are you? Married to a mechanic! You have no idea what life’s like for the rest of us! 😉 Thanks for commenting, and we’d love to see you here again in the future. Have a great day, Ruby! Be well! 🥤🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. I do not know the first time CASINO was used. I just remember that the first time I came up against it, I had to give up after trying all my usual methods. Now I recognize it in an instant. The only other word that I remember defeating me was POMADE. I had NEVER seen that word before unlike any Jumble word which was maybe uncommon but I did know of it. I did struggle with the final solution today after no problem with the words. I did start by deciding it ended in ING and then saw PRESS which made me think of “depressing”. At last I came to the first part SODA as a take off of “so depressing”. Good one!

  3. Hi Everyone –
I was surprised that I arrived at the answer exactly the same way as Gary did.
I’ve had to back into words a lot lately but not today.
    Wishing all a great weekend.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. You know what Emerson said…”It’s not the destination, it’s the journey” And as long as we’re enjoying ourselves along the way? It’s all good! Wishing you a wonderful day, Caroline!🥤🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Casino popped into mind quickly as I just played my accordion at a blood drive in a casino in E Peoria, yesterday.Soda was a given for the first word, leading to the quick soda depressing answer.Yes soda was a given, even though we in the Midwest regard the Pepsi and or Coka Cola as “pop” rather than soda, which is a sparkling water type drink for Scotch and soda or an ice cream soda.

    • Hi Professor. Yes, it was pretty much an easy solve, and a very witty one to boot. And yes, I know about some parts of the country referring to soda as Pop…that’s why I included both in my write-up. I remember the first time speaking with someone who referred to it as such..I had no idea what they were talking about! 😂 Vernacular intrigues me, and I did some work on it when I first started writing. Have a good one, Prof! Stay warm! 🥤🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Good afternoon. I was able to get the words but had to run out. When I got back I spent fifteen minutes on the cartoon and decided to fold as I’m heading back out again. Just not into it lately. Loved your OLD song choice Angela and your post. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Brooklyn…It’s hard to enjoy, let alone concentrate for that matter, on the puzzle when you’re pressed for time. And maybe you’re just wrestling with those old seasonal doldrums right now. I hear ‘ya. I’m going through the motions, but there’s always that little piece that’s missing. Anyway, whatever the reason, I hope you don’t throw in the towel. You’d be sorely missed around here. Thanks for the Shout Out, and I’m glad you enjoyed the music. I love listening to the Andrew Sisters. Stay warm, and have a good one, Brooklyn! 🥤🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Hi all – SPIRAL took the longest; I kept wanting it to be SPRAIN. Finally recognized CASINO quickly after having been stuck on it before. Thought something like “Eye-opening” for the answer. Keeping the ING at the end and seeing SODA in the letters solved it.

Have a great day and weekend everyone!

Excellent writeup today Angela. Maybe they are in MinneSODA, since each of them seems to be a “hot dish”, and yes, ironic that they would call it “pop”. I heard that often when I worked in Chicago.

“The news was SODA-PRESSING that a downward SPIRAL AROSE for the GUILD when they discovered the treasurer had blown their savings at the CASINO”.

    • Hey Steve..Hot dish?? Where??!! 😂😂 But I don’t know about irony…it just is what it is. Different strokes! Thanks for the Shout Out, and 👏🏻👏🏻 to yours too! Hope you’re enjoying your day! 🥤🙋🏻‍♀️
