CARTOON ANSWER: THE GIRAFFE DIDN’T LIKE WORKING FOR THE OTHER GIRAFFE. HE FELT HIS BOSS WAS ALWAYS – – –

KTN   GAE   DOE   ICH   WNR   BN  =  BREATHING DOWN HIS NECK

Good Morning, Everyone!    💻 WORKING WITH A HEIGHT DISADVANTAGE 💻

🎶 The monkeys stand for honesty, GIRAFFES are insincere, and the elephants are kindly but they’re dumb…Orangutans are skeptical of changes in their cages…And the zookeeper is very fond of rum…At the Zoo…At the Zoo…At the Zoo….🎶                     “At The Zoo” Simon and Garfunkle – 1967

💻 He’s very conscientious, no STITCH is out of place,
He sits and works to DECODE with a look upon his face…
That shows the pressure’s mounting…he’s ready to embark,
And hit the GRAVELly pavement that will lead him to the park.
Always looking at a deadline, he needs fresh air to breathe,
The WINERY sounds good right now…he’s starting a slow seethe…
Like a KITTEN he feels cowered, his Boss is such a jerk…
How long can he BEMOAN the fact?…Above this guy just lurks!
He has to quit before he cracks, he’s such a nervous wreck…
No more will he put up with this guy BREATHING DOWN HIS NECK! 💻

Good Sunday morning, and welcome to JULY. We start our month with no new words, but perhaps a good mixture of HIGHS and lows. Of our 36 letters today, 1/3 are vowels…Will that prove to be a BEAST or the Least? Let us know: Write in and tell us what word challenged you today…Ok, our cartoon…We find ourselves this morning in the Offices of GIRRAFIC JAMB, a company that supplies Door and Window Jambs, and the LADDERS needed for their installation. We see our featured character,  STRETCH, working diligently at his keyboard, recording STEP and EXTENSION LADDER shipments, and trying to get a LEG UP on the workload.  But his Boss, the beSPECKtacled HY, looming over him, is being a major pain in the NECK, demanding to see the final numbers. STRETCH is STRETCHED! And the pressure is MOUNTING, as he tells HY that he’s REACHING his limit. I mean, C’mon, this guy HY is constantly…BREATHING DOWN HIS NECK! ..And BOOM! Now how LONG did that take? Good one, David! You’re always REACHING new HEIGHTS!

Ok, eye candy…HY is holding a steaming cup of coffee in his HOOF. Fancy FOOTwork, but a little hard to swallow…He’s wearing a SPOTTED TIE. From a relative perhaps? Family Ties? And in the background we see a CREATURE that seems to resemble the Tasmania Devil. I can’t identify him…It’s going OVER MY HEAD…But the LONG SHOT here? The POST-IT on STRETCH’S Cork Board...”WORK ON RESUME“! SHORT and to the point! So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great day, Everyone! …And it beHOOVES me to mention…Please stay cool…Because is it hot enough around the country? With the temperasure and humidity running NECK and NECK? You bet your GIRAFFE it is! 💻🙋🏻

  1. What a STITCH to see the KITTEN using the GRAVEL at the WINERY for reasons we do not need to DECODE or BEMOAN.
I had a slight tic at STITCH but the single vowel helped. The solution was fairly obvious once HIS and NECK were the second and third words. Crossing out those letters and thinking about the cartoon—-VOILA, the BREATHING let me breathe again.
Oh Angela, a Sunday delight with Simon and Garfunkle providing the music. One of my favourites—thanks.
Your poem was perfectly pitched to portray the petulant apprentice giraffe.
Watching a monumental tennis match from Wimbledon. Unbelievable stamina from both players.
I’ll try to get back later—tropical up here.

    • Good SUNday Morning, Earl. SHORT on time as usual, and LONG on my multi-tasking, 🎶 You Beat Me To The PUNch..🎶 this morning! But you’ve come bearing gifts! Your adorable sentence, and a little added alliteration to alter my attitude. Thanks for the Poem Nom, and the Song Shout Out. The Poem was a pure pleasure of partial puns, and just putting my pen to paper…The write up though…It took me a little LONGER than last time, since I lingered over my morning libation, and lounged around loitering, looking through the latest line scores. Little did I know how late it had become, and that I’d now have too little time left to line this up to my liking! LOL..How I LOVE the sounds of alliteration in the morning! Stamina is right, Earl. With the heat on there too, it’s a wonder anyone’s left STANDING! You’re welcome for the 🎶S&G,🎶 I thought of you as I chose this morning…Glad you enjoyed it…Stay indoors, no biking today, I’m sure it goes unSPOKEn…And I’ve SCRATCHED one UP on the Board for KITTEN..Have a good one, Sir! 🔥🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. Great post from Angela and Earl.Being short on patience, I’ll have to go back later and try to get the song. The phone kept coming up with info rather that the song itself. Today’s words were no real problem with Bemoan taking the longest to get. My choice for the hardest word today. At first glance my thought for the cartoon answer was “Looking over his back”. When I checked with the letters that was ruled out. After playing with the letters the answer was clear. All and all a fine finish for a fantastic fun filled Sunday. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Brooklyn…Good afternoon. Thanks for the Shout Out. And Kudos to you 👏🏻 on your alliterative offering! Fabulously done! A vote for Bemoan, duly noted…Paul, if you’re having a problem bringing up the song, put in At the Zoo Simon…it’ll come right up…Pretty siimple puzzle all around for a Sunday, right? Stay cool, Bud, and I hope you guys aren’t out there playing Bocce! Ciao, Bello..🙋🏻

  3. OH, BOY! It was a quick & easy Sunday solve for me, which was good because we have company coming at noon. Hard-working computer-savvy giraffes!! What next?
    Enjoy your Sunday, all!!
Happy first of July, the month of two very important birthdays!!

    • Hi Lelia – I’ve been seeing a lot of CACTI the past couple of days, because the Giants have been playing the Diamondbacks. Lots of scenic shots between innings.
Hope you enjoyed your company today, and the luncheon yesterday.
Did the Prospector’s Association pick the restaurant specifically because it’s named “Claim Jumper”? 😂 That would be a good enough reason for me!

If you want a couple of songs, there’s The Doors “Waiting For The Sun” that came up (in the conversation, not the actual sun) yesterday. And your comment about riding the train through Texas made me think of this one by them. It’s called “The Wasp (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)” but I don’t see where it’s much about actual Texas radio — in fact I don’t really know *what* it’s about, but it sounds good (again, usually enough for me.)

  4. Hi all – Didn’t really have any problem with the words. I’d say STITCH and BEMOAN took an extra look. Then the answer – First thought the obvious STICKING HIS NECK OUT. The first word had to end with ING and NECK would be in there somewhere; something OVER HIS WORK? No, no ‘V’ in the letters. Just had to stare at the remaining letters to see the correct answer.

Earl, you really made me laugh out loud with that sentence! One of your best.

Don’t worry Angela, being a few minutes late won’t cause the apocalypse now. 😂

    Great song indeed.
🎵”Zebras are reactionary, Antelopes are missionary
Pigeons plot in secrecy And hamsters turn on frequently
What a gas, you gotta come and see At the zoo🎵
You can take a crosstown bus it it’s raining or it’s cold – or too hot!

I see the date is 7/1, which means that again
🎵”It’s Canada day up Canada way
On the first day of July”🎵
The circumstances are a bit different this year, but I would be happy if Earl, Caroline and anyone else with friends and family up North passed along my best wishes, and assure them that I and many others will never forget their instant and complete support at the start of the Iran Hostage crisis and immediately after 9/11. And tell them that those of us who were paying attention in junior high school are well aware of the fact that they didn’t burn down the White House during the War of 1812 either. 🙄😂🙋🏻‍♂️

Keep cool, all you in the heat!
