ARA   IRM  KI   DRE   BED   NET   =   EAT, DRINK, (and) BE “MARRIED”

Good Morning, Everyone!               🍾 THE MARRYING BIND 🍾

🎶 LOVE AND MARRIAGE, LOVE AND MARRIAGE…It’s an institute you can’t disparage…This I tell you, Brother…You can’t have ONE without the OTHER…Try, try, try to separate them, It’s an illusion…Try, try, try, and you will only come…To this conclusion: LOVE AND MARRIAGE, LOVE AND MARRIAGE, Go together like a horse and carriage.  Dad was told by Mother…You can’t have ONE, you can’t have NONE…You can’t have ONE without the OTHER….🎶 “Love And Marriage” – Frank Sinatra 1955

🍾 “Marry Me, Oh Marry Me” this cartoon has brought to mind…
Yet it’s BEYOND me why I’m thinking it…A phrase of such a kind,
I ADMIRE Marriage and those Folks who go forth unAFRAID,
And take the SKIMPY one and one, and Twosomes then are made.
We see these happy people, and laughter INFECTs the room…
As they celebrate and witness love between this Bride and Groom.
As they go forth and INFORM the world with reasons often varied…
That today we toast, and laugh and love and EAT, DRINK AND BE “MARRIED”! 🍾

Sunday. When the words are all big, and the answer letters usually read like a Prescription Medication! But today wasn’t bad at all. After determining that they were all Sweet Repeats, like ATTENDING a Word ReUNION, I went DOWN THE AISLE, I mean the row, and everything was going well, until I got to BEYOND, and then I ALTARed..I mean faltered! What’s with me today? All these misSPOKEN WORDS? I DO think I’m over tired! Or could it be that extra DRINK we had last night? Whatever it is, I saw EMBODY, and all of us GATHERED HERE TODAY know that was wrong! Anyway, except for that little HITCH, I didn’t have any trouble with our words… But our cartoon? I fell IN LOVE! With the guests mentioning FOOD and WINE…The BRIDE voicing her HAPPINESS, and the GROOM CHEERing a TOAST…What else could it be? The NEWLYWEDS were HAPPY to…”EAT, DRINK, AND BE “MARRIED“! Great pun, David! SIP, SIP, HOORAY!

Ok, eye candy…Do you Folks remember back on Sunday April 8th, when that couple, Paula Acuña and Aly Jiwani got engaged on a boat and were featured in our Jumble? And they had their little dog Benji with them? Well, I was hoping this was them…And I PROMISED myself I wouldn’t get my HOPES up, in case it wasn’t…Well, it doesn’t look very PROMISEing…And I was really hoping to give them a welcome RECEPTION, too. Oh well, I guess that bRINGS me back to the matter at HAND…It’s a great cartoon. A few bow TIES, a tux, some nice pieces of jewelry…and I DO see all the FOOD and DRINK…But I’ll tell you what really caught my eye…At the front table, smack DAB in the middle? Little PATS of BUTTER…And all I could think was...For BUTTER or worse! So, TIER you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone. And if you should be celebrating your MARRIAGE today? I TOAST your HAPPINESS…And this one’s for you…🎶Start spreading the BOOZE..🎶🍾🍸🙋🏻

  1. As much as I ADMIRE the SKIMPY outfits, I’m AFRAID I have to INFORM the models that they have gone BEYOND acceptable standards and may INFECT teen-agers sensibilities.
Sunday words sometimes slow me down but this morning they did not. The solution? With all those letters, and with a seeming misprint with the online puzzle I had to use, something just did not click. The usual source I used still had yesterday’s Jumble, so I went to the Seattle Times site. According to that one, there was a single letter at the end of the phrase? After trying to figure that out, I gave up and came here. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Oh well, at least I now know what the phrase was supposed to be.–clever play on a Hedonistic philosophy.
Great song Angela, one of my all time favourites from Sinatra.
Your poem and post are patently perfect per proposals and post-prandial promenading and possibly perambulating.
    Have a splendid Sunday solvers.

    • Good Morning, Earl. I apologize for the delayed response, but as you can see, I was busy trying to correctly list the links for David’s new game. As a fellow Logophile, I think you’ll enjoy it, Earl, you should give it a shot….So, WHERE was your mind this morning? And just HOW skimpy were those outfits? 😳LOL… Love the sentence, AND the imagery! Earl, are you using the Post Star? I used it this morning, because my paper doesn’t come until 5, and the only complaint I have about it today is that it didn’t post until 10 to 4…And I’m used to finding it there at 3! Threw my whole morning schedule off! 😂 And you know I have miles to go before I sleep…and meatballs to make besides!!! 😂😂 Thanks once more for the Shout Outs and the Poem Nom. Greatly appreciated. And the song today? One of my all time favorites too. But then again, he really never did anything that I didn’t like…Oh wait..Remember that album 🎶Watertown🎶? Back in 1970 I think it was? What was that about? I still blame it on Mia Farrow, even though they were divorced by then. My poor Baby…Residual damage! We all make mistakes…We all do penance! 😉 Anyway…A special Thank You for the alliteration! Be still my Heart! These words! You really dug deep this morning! What is is about the “P”s that resonate so deeply when it comes to alliteration? You couldn’t have Pleased me more! I wish you a wonderful day, Earl…May it be as Plu-Perfect as the weather! Enjoy! 🍾🙋🏻

      • Angela–Yes I tried the PostStar and it had yesterday’s Jumble when I logged on at 7 AM.. Strange, if you were able to see today’s there????
Also, I think I confused “Hedonistic Philosophy” with Epicurean Philosophy in my post. Wasn’t it the Epicureans who said “Eat, Drink and be Merry?” Too rushed to Google that, but whoever pushed that philosophy—“good on them.”
I’ll check out the link for David’s new game later. Ciao.

      • Earl…You know what may have happened? If you scrolled down too quickly, you did see yesterday’s because it’s still there. The site keeps a weeks worth of puzzles. I did that one morning, but soon realized the error. I just know that I started checking at 3:10, and was terribly disappointed not to find it until much later. It has been posting later on Sunday’s. As for Hedonistic? I’m good with it. I know it to mean self-indulgence and pursuing pleasure..( I just had to get that Double P in there…I couldn’t resist)! 😉,,so you were spot on. As for the exact phrase itself? That I know to have its roots from the Bible, Ecclesiastes and Isaiah, both. Epicureans? GREEK to me! 😉 They’re just Party People, Period! (Again..What can I say? I’m weak)!😉 Earl, no harm, no FOWL! Just Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, Good Sir! Enjoy! 🍝🍷🙋🏻

  2. Thank you so much Angela for trying out my new app WORD SEARCH WORLD TRAVELER and for that awesome mention at the bottom of your Jumble post today. Also, thank you for including the links to the app stores there. I just checked and they seem to work just fine. Thank you so much for everything you do for Jumble and for this additional help on WORD SEARCH WORLD TRAVELER. I appreciate it so much.

    • LOL…I just tried them too, and success has been achieved! Again, you’re very welcome, it was my pleasure. And Thank You for helping me out, and your kind words. As for the app, trying doesn’t even come close…I’m already addicted! Like I needed another reason to keep me up at night! 😉 The diversity of the game alone is worth the TRIP! Good Luck, David, and I wish you much success with it. Paired with your other games? 👏🏻👏🏻 This is a MARRIAGE MADE IN HEAVEN! ✈️🙋🏻

    • I think it’s worth mentioning that David said yesterday he donates the proceeds from the game to his education foundation. So not only do you get to play a great addictive game, you don’t have to feel guilty about spending a little to remove the ads or (gasp!) even buy some extra hints (I haven’t stooped to that — yet!)

      • Yes, good point. But guilty? Isn’t it only 99¢? 😉 I haven’t needed to yet either, but I’ve used a hint or two…or 6! Seems like it’s always those Bird questions, too, for some reason! 😂 No stooping…just bending a tad! Well worth every penny though, should I need to…David’s Foundstion is a wonderful resource for helping children. 📚🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Clay. It is, isn’t it? You’re very welcome! Have you played far enough into it to receive your first Postcard yet? I’m so taken with the Postcards! 😉 I like that it has a little bit of everything in it…So, tell your friends, send it to your Sister, pass it around the Bar next Trivia night. Maybe we can make it like that old Faberge Organcs Shampoo Commercial…Remember that? (There’s a little Trivia for ‘ya)! 😉 I have a question for you..I did your Vintage Jumble this morning. I wonder if you can tell me what’s written on the back of the Jersey of the player closest to the front? The one on the right of the two players standing together, the one speaking? I found a web-site for it, but it’s not much bigger than a postage stamp, and it can’t be enlarged. I’m just curious. Cute drawing. Reminded me of growing up in Brooklyn, and the empty lots we used to play ball in…Hope you’re enjoying your day, Clay! ⚾️🙋🏻

      • Glad you reminded me to do that one! Looks like #46 and a picture of a sock. Other looks like half the #8. Looked for old pics of sandlot ball and most pics are either from the movie The Sandlot or players that did not even wear uniforms. Guess you probably did the same! Looks like it’s going to be one of life’s unsolved mysteries since the author is probably not with us anymore! Unless of course we get another vintage one some Sunday with the same theme and closer up!

      • You’re welcome, Clay. Glad to help out! 😂 No, I didn’t look for anything regarding that puzzle. I was just very curious as to what was on the Jersey. I never really knew the term “Sandlot”, we just had “empty” lots. There may have been sand, I know there was dirt…but mostly I remember the debris. You’re correct, the artist before Jeff, Henri Arnold, drew the Jumble from 1960 until 2008. He passed away in 2015. I’m pretty sure Jeff still has his original cartoons, or else how could they be replicated in papers still today. IDK. We could ask. Jeff does look in on the blog every now and then. If not, then you’re probably right, it’ll go down as another one of life’s unsolved mysteries! 😂 The humanity! Thanks for “going to bat” for me, Clay, I appreciate it. And don’t forget to spread the word about the new game. Have a good one, Sir! ⚾️🙋🏻

      • Just discovered something on Uclick but it may still be irrelevant most of the time. If you click on the print button, you will have a + and – button to push! What makes it somewhat moot is that unlike the Poststar, it is not a clear enlargement.

      • Hi Clay. The tip may be of help to someone, we never know. I can’t use UClick, I’m on an iPad, and Apple devices don’t support Uclick. The only way I’ve started to see the vintage puzzles is because I’ve fine-tooth combed the web, and came up with an obscure site that shows it. But as I think I told you, it’s soooo tiny! It’s ok I guess, I get to do the words at least. But those old drawings bring back memories of my Dad, and that’s why I’d enjoy getting a better look at them. I learned to read and spell from the Jumble and Dick Tracy! This craziness is not all my fault! LOL!!! 🙋🏻

  3. Easy one today for a Sunday. “Love and Marriage Love and Marriage Go Together Like a Horse and Carriage” – another one from Old Blue Eyes. My 15 year old grandson is as huge Frank Sinatra fan. He’s an old soul in a young body. Thanks so much for the information on David’s new game. I just downloaded it. I burned through the latest offering on the Jumble app so eagerly awaiting the next edition of that one. Happy Sunday everyone.

    • Good Morning, Betty! Sinatra! (BMH). What’s not to like? Kudos 👏🏻 to your Grandson! The young man has excellent taste! This is one of the few songs of his that I sing to the Little Ones. The tempo is catchy, and for some reason they giggle at the Horse and Carriage line, every time! I personally get bored with the Nursery Rhymes ad nauseam, so I figured I’ll start introducing them to “real” music! Let’s be honest,🎶 Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-dee-dah, dah-dah-dah-dah-dah 🎶 has a lot more going for it than🎶 E-I-E-I-O🎶, don’t you think? 😂 And I just knew you’d jump right on the game, you’re like me! You’re very welcome. And guess what? I still have puzzles left on the Just Jumble App, because I have a few screen names, and more than one iPad, so I’m acting like more than one person! 😉, and still playing it. And this morning, when I went in for my Daily Dose, up pops an ad for this new game, WSWT! I got a chuckle from that! …Oh, and yes, easy, breezy puzzle today! Have a good one. Betty! Still praying 🙏🏻 for all of you out there…This morning I heard of the fatalities…💔 Good Luck. 🍾🙋🏻. PS: I made the little correction…

    • Hey Caroline…You know…Somedays we eat the bear, and some days the bear eats us! That’s what tomorrows are for! Hang in there! Wishing you a great day, too! Be well! 🍾🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – The last three words took me the longest. I got ADMIRE, then INFECT. Then BEYOND had me wondering if I’d be DONEBY noon. I didn’t see the answer at first glance, but when I began writing down the letters, it popped right out.

The only things that stood out to me in the picture were that I liked the bald tuxedo guy’s classic push-broom mustache, and I’m glad they didn’t stick the kid at a separate table by himself.

In junior high school, some kids used to (usually pretty good-naturedly) tease each other by singing “Love and marriage, love and marriage, see you Stevie in a baby carriage.” Maybe it wasn’t that good natured, since I still remember it. No fights or anything occurred because of it, though.

And just because I like playing devil’s advocate, here’s Janis Joplin with the opposing viewpoint:
🎵”Hon’, tell me why love is like
Just like a ball, Just like a ball and a chain”🎵

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

    • Hey, G. My parents, in those little leather zippered books that they’d get at Graduations, for classmates, etc to write in, always had sayings like that in them. But more like…”First comes Love, then comes Marriage, then comes Tony with a Baby Carriage”. I still have all their books in my “vault”. 😉 I don’t think it was meant to be anything but good natured. Just a different set of sensibilities back then. More innocent. 🎶Ball and Chain🎶…Sure, just you! Devil’s Advocate, indeed! We have another name for it here in NY….😷 Think Shoes! 😂 Have a good one, G. 🍾🙋🏻

  5. Hi, all! What a happy Sunday Jumble with the new bride “so happy” and the reception guests enjoying food that is “so good.”

Jerry & I join our thoughts, prayers, and wishes with Caroline’s for Steve, Betty, and all of California during this time of horrific fires.
