Happy Tuesday, Jumble fans! I was happy to see that David slightly increased the difficulty level of today’s puzzle after yesterday’s cakewalk. All of the clue words that he chose were recycled favorites but their respective anagrams were new. TRUDGE was the only one to give me a slight pause which made it my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day. I noticed that all of the clue words were used in 2017, with TREND & PODIUM both appearing in April while GRIPE & TRUDGE showed up in July.

It looks like our jet setting couple from yesterday have been reunited as Jeff has decided to grace us with another cartoon based upon their extravagant exploits. Very rarely do we get to continue the adventures of our beloved Jumble characters so it was a pleasant surprise to see them featured for the second day in a row. This time they’re at a racetrack and we see them having an interaction with a horse jockey. The cartoon sentence reveals that the wealthy duo have decided to get into the racehorse game and they’ve approached this particular jockey to train their steed. The dialogue sets the timeframe for the training at one month and the jockey wastes no time in getting started.

Fresh back from Milan, we see our female character decked out from head to hoof in western-inspired clothing. Her cowboy hat sits neatly upon her perfectly quaffed hairdo and the design on the front has a horseshoe emblem in the middle. It blended seamlessly with the horseshoe earrings that are dangling from her ears. The tassels hanging from her shirtsleeves were quite impressive as were her thigh-high cowboy boots. Her beau is dressed almost exactly the same as the last time we saw him with the exceptions being new cowboy boots and a small stud in his right ear. In the background is a shadowed racetrack with a horse and jockey galloping down the straightaway. My favorite overall detail of the piece were the two cupolas on the building in the background. Each one was adorned with a racehorse weathervane which made for quite a surprise when stumbling upon them.

Our surprise answer was cryptically hidden within an 11-letter anagram. With todays theme being about racehorses, I saw RIDE after staring at the letters for a few seconds. With those letters eliminated, I was able to see ON and IT leaving GET for the finish.
