TAPOD – ADOPT

OSGEO – GOOSE

DUGLES – SLUDGE

GTORNS – STRONG

CARTOON ANSWER:   WITH THE MOVIE BEING SO POPULAR, THE LONG LINES – –

AOT   OOS   SDE   TRON  = STOOD TO REASON

Good Morning, Everyone!                🎥”WHAT’S MY LINE”? 🎥

🎶 Is this the REEL life? Is this just fantasy?…Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality…Open your eyes…Look up to the skies and see…🎶 “Bohemian Rhapsody” – Queen 1975

📽 I can’t remember when I last waited in such a queue,
I’m not one to ADOPT and jump on things when they’re brand new…
It’s obvious this movie has brought out the crowds real STRONG,
But Queen never impressed me, so here I’d not belong.
Their music wasn’t SLUDGE to me…without it I could live,
What’s good for GOOSE don’t always mean a gander I should give…
So here’s this movie ’bout them, after months of trailers teasin’?
Makes sense that since it opened now? The lines just STOOD TO REASON!📽

With all of our words being Sweet Repeats today, they were easily recognizable, with perhaps a little pause at SLUDGE, since it’s a rarely seen word. A little quirk? GOOSE appeared here very recently, September 26th, to be exact…just one month ago! That’s a feather ruffler, wouldn’t you say?

Ok, on to our cartoon. Today we find ourselves lined up outside a movie theater, waiting to see the movie BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY. Since it’s not slated to open here in America until November 2nd, I’m imagining Jeff’s brought us to the UK, where it just opened on Wednesday. The movie is a biographical piece about the former Rock Band from Britain, QUEEN, and it’s lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Not looking to further play either music or movie critic, I’ll just tell you that there’s information about it all over…on TV, in the papers…ALL over..So feel free to look into it if you chose….As for our puzzle, the dialogue’s telling us what the cartoon’s showing us…The lines are long, and everyone’s STANDING on them…(or in them, depending where you live)!..The long lines..STOOD TO REASON! Good pun, David…A STAND OUT as usual!

Ok, eye candy…The panel is shaded in Blue…Beyond the eight people we see at front, there’s a line wrapped around the corner, silhouetted in black. The movie marquee, bright Yellow with black lettering, is half hidden, but as I stated earlier…it’s ALL over the media, so we know! We see two couples, a group of three women, and a man alone. The man at back, noting the placement of his thumbs, seems to be texting…but I found it amusing that the woman he’s with is reading it…🎶ONE VISION🎶 I guess. He’s sporting rather interesting facial hair, and a little bit of a low pony tail. 🎶WE WILL ROCK YOU🎶 comes to mind…And the three women smiling happily, remind me of 🎶YOU’RE MY BEST FRIEND🎶…But what’s got me totally stumped? The placard displayed on the wall of the theater. Shaded completely in blue, it’s showing a man. Pictured with heavy-lidded eyes, parted hair, wearing a suit and tie, he’s holding his fingers up in the air as he glances sideways. Very 1940ish. The letters “J E” are printed next to him…Who is he? I’m totally lost…If anyone out there knows, please write in and tell me…I haven’t the slightest clue…I mean I’m not 🎶UNDER PRESSURE🎶, but I sure am curious! So, There you have it, Folks! Done! 🎶ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST🎶! Have a great day, Everyone….And Jeff, if you’re LISTENING? Who is that guy? 🎥🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Mike. Atkinson! Went right over my head. And it’s a good charicature too…I figured it must have had something to do with Queen..who I don’t know much about at all! Thank you.very much. Mystery solved 👏🏻🙋🏻

  1. The STRONG GOOSE managed to get through the SLUDGE and ADOPT a regal manner while preening at length.
No problem with the scrambled words but I had to write out all those circled letters. STOOD come quickly as did a slew of prepositions. REASON took a longer study. Clever play on words.
Thanks Angela for the Queen song and the background in the cartoon. I never saw the poster in the lobby of the theatrre so I’ll have to go back and check it out. No intention to watching this over-hyped movie—but that’s my preference. A film has to be spectacularly good for me to trudge to a theatre. Brilliant post and poem.

    • Good Morning, Earl. Chilly, gloomy day here…Around 7 I figured I’d take advantage and curl up with a cup of coffee and catch up on some shows I had recorded…HA! right off to sleep…What is it about that unexpected sleep that just feels sooooo good! I agree, the answer today was a very clever one. It didn’t stop me though, because I automatically thought of the phrase, and it worked…Love your sentence, kudos! Sludge was a bit of a problem within the poem…You’re welcome for the poster, trust me, it’s only visible because I blew up the on-line image. And I’m with you…I’ve no intention of lining up anywhere!😉 Thanks for the Shout Outs and the Poem Nom, and I hope you’re prepared for the Nor’easter coming our way..I’m battening down the hatches! Have a good one, Earl! 📽🙋🏻

I didn’t notice there was a poster on the wall until you said, with the tiny black and white cartoon in my paper. I don’t know if Mr. Bean had anything to do with Queen. Queen might be my second
favorite group, after the Beatles, so I’ll be watching to see what kind of reviews the movie gets. I got all four words, and I saw “stood”, but I was thinking of “on” as the two-letter word, and never thought of “to”. 😒

    • Hi Mike.Good Morning….Trust me, as I just told Earl, you’d never see it in the paper. Mine prints in color, and it still wasnt visible. No, I doubt there’s a Bean connection. Johnny English 3 opens today here in America, and opened on fhe 5th in the UK, so Jeff’s whimsy is a little blurred to me as far as the dates go, but it’s still a great little piece of candy he snuck in there. I guess my BEAN just wasn’t in full gear at 5 this morning.. I never thought to look beyond Queen…but I should have picked up on J E’s signature hand move if nothing else! I didn’t go searching thru much Queen stuff, either. When I couldn’t match up the Letters to any of them, I just threw it out there to the reading audience…But as I said, Jeff always tickles me, with his whimsy…Mike, from what I’ve read so far, the movie’s not that great..The reviews haven’t been very favorable. But if you like them, what the hay..Go for it. As for the answer, as I just told Earl, I knew the phrase, so I didn’t try working anything out with the letters,..And you know how it is..Once you get a word stuck in your head..2 letters or not, it’s hard to shake it off..Nice to hear from you, and I wish you a good one…I hope you’re not affected by all the rain I hear about in Austin…🎥🙋🏻

      • We have been affected by the rain in Austin. Monday at 6 am the city announced that the water was full of sediment, due to all the flooding in the areas that our water comes from, and we’ve been on a boil water notice ever since. Now they’re saying that they hope to lift the ban on Sunday.🙄

      • I’m so sorry to hear it, Mike. I meant to ask you the other day, and it slipped my mind. That’s one of the first things I thought of when I saw the footage on TV, and listened to the newscasts, the drinking water. You see all that sludge, (no pun intended) flowing around, and it makes you wonder. I hope it clears up for you. Thank God boiling the water works…Do you have bottled water? Or has it become as rare as a hens’ tooth? 🙋🏻

Bottled water has been hard to come by. I went to the store Monday, and there were at least 20 carts lined up in the water aisle. I said, “I’m not doing that”. But yesterday there was no line, and I picked up a case with no problem.

      • Didn’t want to wait on the line, huh? 😉 I can imagine it would be hard to get at this point..I’m glad you were able to find Some. I always keep a few cases, just in case…😉 Hope things improve soon, Mike.Be well and stay safe…🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. Everything about this group is way over my head as you well know I’m stuck mostly in the 50s and 60s. But just a few weeks ago at the bocce court we were discussing who were the top two male singers and it came out that Roy Orbison was number one and that Freddie Mercury was number two. I had to admit I had no idea who he was until they played some of his songs. What would be this groups choice for the top two male singers ? Angela, great work with song, poems, and puns. Earl, classy use of the words. You had me reaching for the dictionary. Today’s jumble was another fairly easy one. Sludge took a minute longer to get then the rest of the words which only took a first look. After writing down the letters the cartoon answer came after five minutes. “Eye Candy”Sorry Angela,I borrowed your line. The last time I waited on a line that had hundreds of people was for a bobble head doll giveaway. By the time we got to the front, they were out. We were there early but,so were thousands too. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn! How you doin? I’m shocked to hear that the gang you hang out with at the Bocce Court, would pick either one of these 2 guys as the top male singers..Freddie Mercury really blows my mind…But one can never account for taste, right? I think I’d be hard pressed to pick my two. I mean one, we know is etched in stone, 😉 Sinatra (BMH), but a second? Never thought about it, since I like so many different genres of music, that include so many artists…Thanks for the Shout Outs, Bud, you’re so sweet! 😘 And yes, it was a pretty easy one. And I thought Sludge might be the bit of a straggler today. But you’re making me laugh…You can piggy-back off my “Eye Candy” any time you’d like, but I think you’re misinterpreting it. You know it refers to the little hidden things Jeff throws into the cartoon, right? Not anything like waiting in a line..Only now you’ve made me curious. Was it at Shea? They always seemed notorious for running out…And if it was, can you remember who the doll was? Make sure your outdoor stuff’s secured, Paul…We got some serious winds coming our way…Have a good one, Brooklyn! 🎥🙋🏻

      • You see that’s why I like this forum. You’re always learning. Thanks for enlightening me on eye candy, which by the way, the first time I heard of it was here. Frank is good but nobody can reach the highs and lows as Roy. You would be surprised as to some topics that are brought up while you wait to get on the court. Especially when there are 15-20 men and women there. It was at the Met game last year and not sure about the bobble head doll. Two of the boys have about 4-6 each.

      • Hey Brooklyn…I think you may have heard it here, because even though the phrase has been around for a pretty long time, I coined it here referring to all Jeff’s hidden Gems! 😂 I have to give it to you with Orbison, he did reach some pretty high notes. Sinatra (BMH) didn’t have that range…As for the conversations? I can only imagine! 😷 I’m sure they had your head spinning a time or two! And how did I know it was a Met game? Even at CitiField…They just always seem to miscount by like a gazillion dolls. Don’t they go by the number of tickets sold? Wouldn’t that make sense? Makes you shake your head…And then you watch them play…and you shake your head some more! Gotta love those Mets! ..I just got a news alert on my phone that they arrested someone in Florida for these package bombs…I hope it’s him…I hope they crucify him too…🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – Only SLUDGE took an extra look. No clue what they were going for with the answer until I wrote the letters. Saw STOOD and thought “Stood on line”, but the letters gave “Stood on roast(e)”. Then tried TO as the middle word and saw it.

My first thought from the cartoon was that this was original run of Star Wars at the now-defunct Coronet Theater in SF, where for weeks the lines sometimes circled the entire massive block and came back across the front, driving the adjacent businesses crazy, especially the gas station next door. An absolutely first-rate experience with the latest Dolby sound, padded rocking chair seats in the balcony, etc. A look at the marquee shows it’s current. BBC said this movie has a lot of faults, but gave it a good review based especially on the ending.

Great song choice with the REEL life, Angela, made me laugh!

Mike M, sorry to hear about the flooding. Take care and keep us updated.

Paul, male singers, Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and Jon Anderson of Yes. So many more, of course.

Good wishes to you all for the weekend.

    • Hey G…Tks…I got a chuckle myself when I REELized that I could play with it..There was nothing much in the way of lyrics that could relate to the cartoon. I read the BBC article too. There’s a good number of them out there, going back to the previews. Sadly, for the most part they’re more 👎🏻 than 👍🏻. Except for Malek’s performance which has been pretty positive so far. But reports are that its’ making good money, so that’s what’ll REELy matter in the end, right? And I’m sure the die-hard fans that have been waiting for the last 8 years are going to enjoy it no matter what! It’s getting enough hype, that’s for sure. Commercials are running here on network TV ad nauseam…I’m sure we’ll know soon enough…Another few days and it opens here. But I’m not following what you mean by the marquee showing its current…And I remember friends of mine going back 2-3x’s before they got in to see Star Wars…After waiting hours each time…Now I think we only see those kind of lines when the new IPhones get released! 😂😂 Have a good one, G! 🎥🙋🏻

  5. I’ve got to put in a word for Freddie Mercury. I don’t know if he’s in the top two male singers, but to me he’s definitely in the top ten. I’ve heard it said that his voice was almost too pretty for rock. His singing was very dexterous, and he had a great range. Maybe one of the best examples of his singing is in “Somebody To Love”. https://tinyurl.com/qe995rw
