Good Morning Everyone!          🍭 HOW SWEET IT IS 🍭

🎶 Who can take a sunrise (who can take a sunrise), Sprinkle it with dew (sprinkle it with dew), Cover it with choc’late and a miracle or two…The CANDY MAN (the CANDY MAN), Oh, the CANDY MAN can (the CANDY MAN can). The CANDY MAN can, Cause he mixes it with love, and makes the world taste good (makes the world taste good)🎶

🍭 Here are our words and solution for today. Don’t fill up on candy…

I’ll be back…”TOOT SWEET”! 🍭

🍭 Although the hair is colored blonde, I knew who it would be
And looking closer at her shirt…just as I thought “Lucy”
The famous episode, where she and Ethel get a job
And chocolates ERUPT on the belt as they just grab and lob…
Now WISDOM needn’t tell us, HEAVY hints are what we see,
This family is visiting a Candy Factory…
The Fathers disillusioned, he thought that there’d be more
He’s thinking this is nothing more than going to a store…
But kids have different outlooks, their views on candy STRONG
They wanted this, no matter what…or how the lines were long…
So happy as the children are, I think that Dad might tweet
And tell his friends…”Not worth the wait…the place is SHORT AND SWEET! 🍭

How SWEET are our words today? Easy, breezy, REESE’S PIECEzy! So, on to our cartoon. Today we’re visiting a CANDY FACTORY, maybe somewhere on FIFTH AVENUE, and Jeff’s graphic gives us plenty to sink our teeth into! We see the host, dressed as a red and white PEPPERMINT CANDY MAN, complete with his HARD hat. Nice TWIST. He’s telling his audience, the GOODBARS, family of four, that the company was started because the owner loved candy. But since the Father, MR GOODBAR, MINT GOODBAR, is saying he thought there’d be “more” to the Factory’s story, it takes a big BITE out of the solution. We’re surrounded by Sweet Candy, the story is Short…It’s SHORT AND SWEET! HOT TAMALE! How SWEET is that? Ok, the eye CANDY! I’ve already mentioned Lucy and Ethel, and Jeff has embroidered their names on their shirts. They’re desperately trying to gain control of those chocolates. I go to PIECES every time I see that I Love Lucy episode! Just be TWIX you and I, I must have at least 50 views under my BELT! We see another worker, SCOOPing candy into a rotating machine. On the wall, is a photo of a Teddy Bear, a Candy Cane and a piece of Candy. Now, we come to our family. I guess it’s a BIT of a ROCKY ROAD for the Dad, he probably paid like 100 GRAND to get them all in, and it’s NUT thing like he expected. He’s thinking, “What WHOPPERS the ads for this place were”. The Mom, KIT KAT, seems to be taking it a lot BUTTER. FINGERS pointed upward, she seems pleased, U-NO? And now, the kids. BABY RUTH and JUNIOR MINT. Look at the JOY on that girls face! And why NUT? Her and her brother are looking at MOUNDS and MOUNDS of candy! And they’re free to go FISHing! She’s grabbing handfuls of those …WHAT-CHA-MA-CALL-ITs? Oh, right GUMMI BEARS, and he’s sucking on a CANDY CANE. He may need to take a FAST BREAK though, because it looks like he’s got STAR BURSTS in his eyes…Maybe he SKORed a little too much? Or maybe it’s because the Candy Canes are colored blue? Don’t SNICKER, they are! Anyway, I have to CHEWS, because it’s CRUNCH time. Almost AFTER EIGHT.! ..I’ll go with MR GOODBAR. Even though this was no PAYDAY for him…he’s still a SWEETHEART for putting up with it all! So, There you have it , Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And remember, there are so many RIESENS to be happy…TAKE 5 today, and just enJOY! 🍭🙋🏻

    • Yes it is. A regular smoking GUM! Good Morning, HM. Have a good one! 🍭🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Caro! I think it was MINT to be! Have a good day, Big Guy! 🍭🙋🏻

    • Yes, it is, and it gave me a CHUCKLE, Chuck! Good Morning! Hope you have a good day, Sir! 🍭🙋🏻

  1. The STRONG man broke out in a HEAVY sweat when a
WISDOM tooth threatened to ERUPT and cause dental grief.
Clue words and solution caused no problems. Another blind solve.
Love that song Angela and your puns were sweet, succulent and savory.
Day is sunny but clouds are on the horizon..

    • Good Morning, Earl. Thank you very much, you’re very SWEET! Great TWIST on your sentence. Kudos. Same thing here, heavy rains predicted. But for now, the sun’s GOOD and PLENTY! So let’s enJOY the BIT-O-HONEY while we can! Hope you have a great day! 🍭🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. Terrific choice for the song Angela and as always great job on all the rest. Mentioning the Lucy reference brought a wide smile to my face. That candy episode was hilarious Earl nice use of the words. It wasn’t easy breezy for me today. There was a slight tic on Erupt. Only one word came instantly. When doing the cartoon,I had to write down the letters for the solve which took me at least five minutes to get. I went back to yesterday’s blog and see I have a few songs to check out from everybody. Never heard any of them that was mentioned. Thanks for that. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn! Thank you, Bud. You’re such a SWEETHEART. The minute I saw the cartoon, the first thing I did was zero in on the shirt. Sure enough, it said Lucy. Too bad her hair is colored blonde, and not red, but that’s not Jeff’s doing. He knows his Crayolas! Glad you liked the song…what else could I CHEWS today? Bud, If you’re going back to y’day for the music, check out my first reply to you…where I mentioned using your song choice next time around. I left a little joke for you, but you didn’t BITE. Could be my sense of humor. I’ve been told it’s not always up to par…Ok, TOOTSIE, I need to ROLL! So much going on here. And I have my nephews dog too…so I better get back and TEND to ‘ER…Not crazy about dog sitting, but at least it’s better than a KIT KAT! Talk to you later, Brooklyn. Have a good one! 🍭🙋🏻

  3. Easy one today. No problem with clue words or cartoon answer. So nice when it all falls into place. Happy Tuesday everyone.

  4. Hi all – I looked at the cartoon first and thought “Much too sweet”, but reading the comment “more to it” gave me the answer. STRONG took two looks, and ERUPT was the last, after thinking to try the E at the beginning.

Must..resist..posting..The Beatles’ “Savoy Truffle” again so soon…
Anybody else ever watch Mark Summers hosting “Unwrapped” on The Food Network? Quite enjoyable, but it was interesting how similar the process is for so many different types of candy.

Angela, I was reading the comments to the comic strip “For Better or For Worse” recently, and people there were complaining about how the women were always dressed in purple! It must be a clause in the colorists’ contract or something.

    Have a great day everyone.

    • Hey Steve. …🎶 We all know Obla-Di-Bla-Da…But can you show me, where you are?🎶 Enough sweets for today…I like watching Mark Summers. I’m surprised though to hear you’d be at the Food Channel, as a self-professed non-foodie. The candy shows are all good, and he does enJOY himself. This women in purple thing is really over the top. You know every woman in today’s panel wears purple, right?…I’m calling it the Grapes of Wrath. Have a good one, G. 🍭🙋🏻

      • My old boss’ quote – “YOU watch Martha Stewart??” 😂
I’ve always enjoyed WATCHING shows about (and eating) food. I enjoyed the Alton Brown shows as much as any I’ve ever seen (but then, he explained a lot of the science of it also.)
Mark Summers also hosted one of the first interactive quiz shows, History IQ on the History Channel, where you could log onto the website and participate. Like here, sometimes the comment section was the best part! 🙋🏻‍♂️

        • Oh right, I forgot. It’s the cooking part that you shy away from! 😉I’m kind of the opposite. I’m not big on watching food shows, but I love the cooking…And the eating of course. And I think if you cooked, you wouldn’t think of it as having a science to it. It’s just doing. (I may have seen Good Eats once or twice…by accident)! 😉 Summer’s did that other show Restaurant Impossible, and some other food related ones too. He also did that crazy, sometimes gross show the kids liked, Double Dare. He’s definitely been around. I remember he waged a major battle against leukemia too, but I think he’s been in total remission for a few years now….Martha Stewart…never watched! But now she’s cool, she hangs with Snoop! 🐶 Talk to you later, Bud. 🙋🏻

          • I know.. you’ve read about Good Eats. 😉😂 His science parts were interesting when he talked about stuff like substituting honey for sugar or other things like that – how the proportions had to change and how it affected the cooking processes and reactions. Not that I remember any of it, but at least now I know such things exist.
I think Snoop may be getting coolness from Martha, not the other way around! 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

  5. Lelia, your enthusiasm about “Wooden Ships” inspired me to do some research, and I found this story about how it was written on David Crosby’s boat.
That means that Crosby’s boat and love of the ocean inspired at least two great songs, this and Joni Mitchell’s “The Dawntreader” (Crosby produced Joni’s first album.)

I checked out “Guitars and Cadillacs” and enjoyed the guitar playing. It reminded me a bit of Elton John’s ode to 50’s music, “Crocodile Rock” which I think you’d like.

In hockey, Toronto yesterday forced a 7th and deciding game in Boston tomorrow at 4:30 in what will be the last game of all the first round series. Patrick Marleau has been playing well. Auston Matthews is struggling a bit in his first playoff experience, but hanging in there. The Sharks will open their second-round series with Vegas later this week.

  6. Hi, all! SHORT AND SWEET Tuesday Jumble ! The quick solve left a sweet taste in my mouth, not being in the mood for a difficult solve.

The only thing I looked at twice was ERUPT, first seeing “purte” as in “Ain’t she perty?”

I overdid yesterday, my first day of being well, so today I plan to have a lazy day. I have always called myself an “every other day person.” In my twenties, I’d say, “Wow! I got so much done today that if I do the same tomorrow, this whole house will be sparkling clean,” but I’d wake up the next morning wanting to do nothing. I wondered about that for years, but now I just go with it. Hence, one lazy day coming up for Lelia. Make that extra lazy, since I am retired.

Enjoyed commenting with you yesterday, Angela. Get well soon.

Steve, thanks for your answer to my comments to you yesterday and for giving me more songs to look up on my lazy day. Wow! I just saw your comments to me today so now I’ll have even more songs to investigate and a hockey game to program. Double thanks!

    • Hi Lelia. It was exactly that..Short and Sweet. Thanks for the well wishes, and enjoy your day! 🍭🙋🏻

    • I didn’t mean to overload you, but you got me listening to, and appreciating these, all over again. Of all of those, don’t miss “Guinnevere” !

      • Steve, just listened to Guinnevere; peaceful, calm, easy listening, easy feeling guitar playing. Then I read more about “pentagrams” than I cared to know; very interesting. Thanks again.

        • Yes, I see what you mean, from German Literature to religion to math to the orbit of Venus….I think I’ll just stick with the peacocks wandering aimlessly. That, I can understand! I don’t think the song has any evil intent; I think people were just exploring everything in reaction to the times, and all Crosby had on his mind were girlfriends and music (to vastly over-simplify an entire decade and its art, music and people.)

  7. Hi –
Pretty easy today for me. I thought of a song for yesterday’s and Sunday’s puzzles. 🎵A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh🎵. With all the great candy puns, it sounds like you’re doing well, Angela. I’m glad to hear, Lelia, that you are much better, too.

    • HI Caroline. The song you’re thinking of is 🎶As Time Goes By..🎶 Beautiful song, and it would have gone well on both. 👏🏻👏🏻 Kudos! The puzzle was an easy one today. And cute! Thanks for the shout out, and I hope you have a great night! Take care. 🍭🙋🏻

    • Caroline, thank you for your kind words today and several times while I was ill but didn’t feel strong enough for much commenting. I also wanted to comment to you the day that our solves for the cartoon answer and all 4 clue words were almost exactly, word for word, identical. We have similar solves a lot but these were close to being the same.

      • Interesting, Lelia. It’s fun to compare solves, and I have noticed some similarities, too. I’ve wondered if there are any differences between women and men in solving the CWs and answer, but I haven’t figured that one out.
