Good Monday morning, Jumble fans! Last week we saw some challenging clue words with PARDON, SHREWD, and EMBLEM being the top 3 that were searched for. We know that David and Jeff typically start the week with puzzles that are on the easier side, so let’s take a look and see what’s in store for us today!

We start off the game with MORGO which sounds like the name of a super hero antagonist. It was easily deciphered as was the next word which was FANCY. SNEEZE took a few extra glances before it finally gave itself up. Even though it had a “Z”, it was jumbled so well that I had to stare at it just a little longer to figure it out. THORNY was no trouble at all which left me to choose SNEEZE as the most difficult anagram of the day.

The cartoon for today features a husband and wife that are in the market to purchase a new recliner. We see several other models in the panel but hubby seems to have made up his mind. When his wife looks at the price tag you can see the sticker shock setting in on her face. She tells her husband that the price is more than their bedroom set so he quickly decides that it’s wiser to stick with his old one.

The final solution to this Jumble was a blind solve which means that the aid of the clue letters wasn’t necessary for me to figure it out. I always write out the clue letters just to check my answer and they all matched up perfectly.

Will we see a baseball themed puzzle on Thursday to coincide with opening day? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Have a marvelous Monday, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

    🛋 Who doesn’t like reclining in a pillowy delight?
    I’ve fallen out too many times and even spent some nights.
    Recliners can be FANCY with embellishments galore,
    And shopping can take hours whilst visiting any store.
    I started out with my first two and slowly over time
    Was GROOMed into appreciating the comfort so sublime.
    I have them in my bedrooms, my office and my den
    Relaxing can be anywhere a person seeks some zen…
    The THORNY trials of any day can quickly melt away
    When one lies back and settles in and comfort now takes sway…
    This couple hoped to buy one replacing what’s at home,
    But pricing’s not to SNEEZE at, so there goes their COMFORT ZONE! 🛋

    Today’s words. Once I got past North…I knew I was headed in the right direction…THORNY had put a momentary Thorn in my side. Looking at today’s cartoon, we see a couple shopping for a new recliner. I say new, because from the dialogue we know that he already has one at home, but it obviously GOES WAY BACK. So, he’s hoping to replace it, but the price TAGS on the newer MODELS, are nothing to SNEEZE at! The wife takes a look at the price, and she’s like…”How much? Oh no, I’m not going to take this SITTING DOWN”! A dilemma for sure. There’s nothing CHAIRful going on here…Let’s face it, we all want something comfortable to relax in…But if it’s going to cost an ARM and a LEG, well that takes another TURN. And we can tell they didn’t go into this PARTicular store after seeing an ad for a sale. You know like for a CHAIR upholstered in CORDUROY….now that would have made HEAD LINES…No, it seems they just went looking for something for the fuCHAIR. Anyway, SOFAr we see that he has one FUTON the footrest, and one foot off. He’s got his head resting back. He’s relaxed, COMFORTable….until his wife BOLTS at the cost! And then, he’s out of his…COMFORT ZONE! Well done, David! STAND UP and take a bow! Ok, eye candy. Two of the chairs are shown in really garish colors, purple and green. The other two, a blue and a beige…The last two I could PUT UP with. There’s a M logo on the man’s shirt, only I’m not sure what it STANDs for….But that little hole on the bottom of his right shoe? For some reason that just made me SIT UP and take notice! So, There you gave it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone. And I hope something special LIFTS your spirits today! 🛋🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. Today’s puzzle was a typical Monday morning solve. Breezed right through the words with a momentary pause at sneeze. I had a blind solve with the cartoon answer. My first thought was Price Range but the words didn’t match the boxes. Then my second thought was Comfort Zone. It matched when I compared the letters. There you have it,done and out. Nice job from Mike and Angela. You guys really give us the image of the picture. But,in today’s times it would be correct (sadly enough) in not assuming than the couple are married. For when one does assume,”He makes an Ass out of YoU and Me.Shades of the Odd Couple Until tomorrow stay well.

  8. Today was a blind solve and the CWs gave themselves up easily, with exception of SNEEZE for some reason. Guess seeing the Z signaled my brain that it was instant – NOT!!

  9. Words were easy for me but not the answer. I turned to my husband at breakfast and he came up with the answer right away once I told him there was a Z. Will catch up on posts later. Have a great day & week everyone.

  11. Hi, all! Easy Monday solve. Didn’t have the cartoon answer first, as I frequently do, but after the first 2 words & seeing the “Z” in the third word, I got COMFORT ZONE. I had to think about the letters of the 3rd word for 2 more bites of egg before getting SNEEZE, but THORNY popped right out.

    It was the THORNY roses and bougainvillea that caused the GROOM to SNEEZE at his FANCY wedding.

    My goal is to finish preparing my income tax papers today, so I will get at it and be more sociable tomorrow. Enjoy your day, all!

  12. Hi all – No problem with the words, but I had to write the letters. As soon as I saw the Z, ZONE and the answer appeared. Strangely enough, THORNY was instant because there’s a pinball machine named “Cactus Jack’s” where a feature that awards various prizes is called “Thorny Surprise.”

    Mike, I’ll try to score you some tickets to the retro music festival on Flash Gordon’s planet MONGO, where MUNGO JERRY is scheduled to perform “In the Summertime.”
    Also, I hear that the A’s and Giants are still mathematically alive, but it’s hard to believe. 😂

    Yes Angela, I assumed you came up with “Cherish” via free ASSOCIATION.
    I also loved “Goes way back” but I suspect he’s had his for so long it’s more like GOES SWAY-BACK.
    You’d like the pinball machine. The theme is a country band playing at a honky-tonk, but when you switch into multiball mode, a voice announces “It’s polka time!”, the music switches to polka, and the object of the game becomes throwing fruit at the band, progressing from cherries up through watermelons. Very fun!

You see where the mind set was…’Twas no need to reach “way back” or “sway” anyone! 😉…! Ah, 🎶Cherish🎶 didn’t really Associate musically, and it is just …🎶 a word..🎶, but it was just so apropos, right?       • Some great posts today—I don’t always read everything this late in the day. But I was impressed with your poem and puns Angela and your THORNY references just above– not sure if -“prickly’ pears and guava trees have thorns, but I’ll let that slide. Thanks to you also for mentioning guava—don’t have it in this country very often, but I relish it now and then.
        Baseball season begins up here in the Minor League next week and many will be wearing “long johns’ if they go to Opening Day. I think I’ll wait a few weeks.

They’re in reply to Steve’s offering me a SHOT at the pinball machine. It’s object is to throw fruit…🍒🍉 Glad to hear you got a walk in.   15. Good morning again..Yesterday Lelia had a great sentence with the words and added Bougainvillea in it. Earl seemed to know what she meant so today I decided to look up this new and strange word to me. Not being a botanist left me wondering what she meant. It really is a beautiful plant. That’s the great thing about this blog. You always learn something. Thank you for that. As always stay well.

    • Hi Paul – There’s a bright red 15-foot tall one right in our front yard. They come in many beautiful colors. And they’re so cheap, you can even plant one at a “bargain villa”! 😂🙋🏻‍♂️
