BRONI – ROBIN

CARTOON ANSWER: THE VIKINGS WERE JUST ABOUT HOME AFTER A LONG...

RIWRPOTDE – “ROWED” TRIP

Good Morning, Everyone! ย  ย  ๐Ÿ‰ DRAGON Ourselves Back Home? ๐Ÿ‰

๐ŸŽถOh my life feels unreal, my CRIMEย an illusion a scene badly written in which I must play….And thought it puts me up tight to leave you, I know it’s not right to leave you…When morning is just a few hours away. But I’ve got to creep down the alley way, fly down the highway…before they come to catch me I’ll be gone.
Somewhere they can’t find me…๐ŸŽถ

๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‰ The “Hersir” standing in our pic and calling to his wife,
Has just returned from pillaging, as this was Viking life.
They’d board these ships, their “drekis”, and sail off from a WHARF
And travel where the riches were, for months they would be off…
This isn’t stuff of POETRY, these farmers were quite crude,
With axes, clubs and shields, attacks were a DELUGE.
They’d steal another’s riches…monasteries, merchants ships,
And once the wealth was taken, back to home they all would slip.
This isn’t very pleasant, no hearts or ROBINs here
These men were on a mission, and their message was quite clear…
Set off for greener pastures, beat and steal then load the ship…
And return to their villages…just one more long “ROWED” TRIP ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‰

Today’s words…ROBIN? How ironic, huh? We’ve got some serious Robbing going on here today…But looking at those 5 little letters? First quick glance? Show of hands…Inborn? And DELUGE? Did it make you come Unglued for a moment or two? Great anagrams. POETRY really didn’t take much RHYME, and WHARF did apPIER right away. These words aren’t new..but they may have STOLEN a bit of your time this morning…Ok, on to the main feature…Our cartoon. Today, Jeff’s taken us back to days of social unrest…Did I say “back to”? Hmm. We see a VIKINGย ship, known as a dreki, returning from a raid. Our Hersir, Hagar, is seen greeting his wife, Olga. Olga’s just tickled pink, isn’t she? And wouldn’t you know it, of all days, she’s dressed in black. Pink would have gone so much better today, but nope, she’s wearing black. Our men working those oars, farmers and hunters by trade, look as disgruntled as one might expect. OAR maybe they’re just tired. Let’s face it, Folks, beating and pillaging can be exhausting. Oddly enough though, the last man, on the right, has the biggest grin on his face. He’s the only one who’s face isn’t DRAGON down to the floor. And he’s looking up at the Dragon head of the ship, whichย looks very angry. I have to be honest here, Folks, I have no clue. Why does this man look so happy? Inquiring minds want to know…Jeff? Perhaps come on BOARD and let us know? Ok, let’s dock this ship…Hagar’s saying..”We’re back”, we see our men ROWING…The Vikings are home after a long…”ROWED” TRIP! Boom! Drop anchor, Folks, we’re docking! Great pun, David! You’ve STOLEN the show once more! Ok, eye candy. We’ve got two of the horned helmets, and a mixed bag of rounded helmets and what looks like a fisherman’s cap. And then, once again is our Happy Viking. I’m going to call him ARNE. Because ARNE we dying to know why he’s grinning? And, what is that he’s wearing? A stocking cap? Anyway, none of this headgear is COVERing it. But if we look closely, Hagar and Olga are wearing bracelets. Hers is engraved with X’s. His with O’s. X’s and O’s? Hugs and Kisses? ARNE you kidding me? So, There you have it, Folks, Done!
Have a great day, Everyone. I still can’t get over relating pillaging to Hugs andKisses…NORSE CODE, perhaps?? ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  1. ROWED TRIP doesn’t use the concept of pillaging,. This Jumble solution is loaded with alternative answers. For example, since when do you see a woman welcome her husband or other men home on a boat when they have been stealing and committing violence? A building in the background suggests this is a port, so the answer could be WEIRD PORT. I don’t see any wires, so WIRED PORT seems unlikely. And the woman was close enough to yell to them, so it wasn’t a WIDER PORT. Maybe there is an inscription on the side of the port, perhaps “We’re all in the same boat.” That’s tripe. So maybe TRIPE WORD. Maybe that’s not water at all but a dry plot of land or river bed. In which case the boat needs POWER DIRT. Some of the passengers seem sleepy; maybe it’s a TIRED PROW. Lots of solutions, some almost as good as the intended answer, which I find faulty. Also note that the fourth word could be DEGLUE, which means to remove the glue from. But that results in the same set of letters for the final answer. This jumble is thoroughly cooked.

    • Good Morning, Jim. Phew! I need another cup of coffee! Maybe a shot of Scotch! ๐Ÿ˜‰
TBT, You know I don’t “make” the news, I just “report” it. These would be best taken up with our Jumble creators. But I know they do look in from time to time, so maybe they’ll address your concerns. Personally, I applaud your efforts, and your obvious intelligence. But as I said, this isn’t my doing. I’m just the messenger, Jim…Please don’t shoot me! Hope you have a great day, Sir! ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  3. The spring DELUGE threatened the WHARF on the lake but when the first ROBIN appeared, there was POETRY in the air.
I was able to unscramble the two six letter words easily, the two five letter ones give me, in Angela’s patois, a few tics. The solution also did not come quickly–those dreaded “. ”
Your post was full of “gravy” this morning Angela– and that’s meant as a compliment and a reference to your famous pasta covering—can almost smell it simmering on the stove. ๐Ÿ…
All that was missing was a “Red, red, robin” tune and a nod to HAGAR the cartoon character who loves to pillage and may or may not be a Viking.
    Great Friday everyone.

    • Good Morning, Fellow NYer! You’ve put a huge smile on my face! First with your sentence, and then with all the rest of your sweet talk! Thank you so much…
My patois! How I love that word. And I appreciate the use of it. I’m so used to hearing…”Are you kidding me”?… “I have no idea what you’re talking about”..And the tried and true…”Where do you come up with this s–t”!!! So, patois is exhilarating! Thank you again! And, you need to know, that if possible, I’d cook my gravy for you any day of the week…Truth.
But…2 things before you go…1- I did nod to Hagar, I named my Viking Hagar…I adore that cartoon curmudgeon. And 2- Earl, ๐ŸŽถRed, red Robin๐ŸŽถ? …Instead of my song choice? This morning, I did it all for you….I’m here all day… I’ll wait…๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Whoops! Missed the HAGAR reference–too busy looking at “Hersir”. Which I had never seen before and at first thought was just an Angela-made word referring to the husband of the welcoming housewife.
Your song reference escaped and continues to escape me? Help.
Still hoping to see a robin soon. ๐Ÿฟ. Could’nt find a robin emoji but have seen more squirrel activity this week.

      • ROTFL…Quite alright, Earl. And “Hersir”..So did my friend sitting here…I got hit with another..”You and your Angela-speak””! You guys really have to learn to trust me! (At least he’s not the one with the…”Where do you, etc…)!!LOL..And we must have crossed in the mail, because I’ve already posted the song for you…I hope you enjoy it. I don’t think there is a Robin emoji, but I’ll check. As for the squirrels? Please…The ones around here are out of control…Defiant little devils, leaping from limb to limb, and running across all the street wiring like banshees! They’re all NUTS! Ciao! ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Chastened? Not by a long shot. It is one of their much lesser known songs. And you’re hardly slipping..I’m only more familiar with it because I play the album often. You know I’m an out of control music freak. I’m just sorry that I couldn’t give you that little extra smile with your morning coffee…Next time, ok? And no mea culpa called for, Sir. I just hope you enjoyed it…(Kind of funny how I didn’t wait for your reply..I just went ahead and posted it. I owe you an apology for that)…And now my friends telling me that I have the patience of a gnat!…(Did I say “friend”)??? Thank God I’m a firm believer in “Every knock’s a boost”…

  4. Good morning. This had been a weird jumble for me today. At first I thought Mike had posted and then when I started to read it, I said no way is this his. I went back to the beginning and low and behold it says Angela. Great job all around. Looking forward to see what Earl brings to the table. I flew right through the first three words and hit a brick wall on the last. I took forever to get Deluge. Swear to God I came up with that but really thought it had something to do with winter sports. Got the idea which way I was leaning. I double checked my four words and was surprised I was right again. This time I checked the meaning of Deluge. I didn’t have the meaning but at least I spelled it right. The cartoon was fairly quick because I saw trip right away which left me with rowed. No matter how hard I tried I could not come up with something more suitable. The answer for me was like missing the three point shot at the buzzer to win the game. A real downer. As always, until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Thank you…But, what downer? Unless I’m reading you wrong…You made the shot! Rowed…Maybe I do need more coffee?..Or that shot of Black Label???
Paul, you know you’ve won my heart, but the …”no way is this his…”? Hmm…๐Ÿ˜‚ Between that and the woman from Storage Wars, I’m beginning to think the blush is off the rose…Say it ain’t so!!! ….And you’re good, I knew where you were going with Luge…All those Winter Olympic commercials just crept into your subconscious…As always, Thanks for the laughs…You never fail me..Have a good one, Brooklyn! ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Angela, the guy missed the three pointer making him disappointed like the cartoon answer. But I’m not worried, tomorrow is another day for redemption You can’t always hit a home run, throw a touchdown or score a goal. Just knew Earl would come through with a good sentence. Great job.

  5. This was a tougher puzzle for me this morning. Only WHARF was instant, ROBIN and POETRY took a little coaxing. At that point I was able to solve the puzzle since I write the letters down as I go. DELUGE was the stumper for me. Knew that I needed D & E, so DEGLUE came to mind, but seemed off to me. From there it wasnโ€™t far to the correct answer!

    • Good Morning, John…
Yea, I could see where DEGLUE wouldn’t STICK with you…But you CONQUERED it anyway…And I agree, WHARF did apPIER immediately….Wishing you a good one! ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. “Pottery doen’t fit the Mold”? – very clever, Angela. Love your quick wit. I got hung up on Robin for some reason. Figured out the other words fairly easily and the cartoon solution as well so finally backed into Robin. All in all it was a fun puzzle and a proper challenge for me this morning. Have a good Friday everyone.

    • Hi Betty, Good Morning to you! Thank you so much…you know I try! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And I did CRACK myself up a bit! I saw Inborn first “tic” this morning with Robin. I still feel the 5 letter words can prove a bigger challenge. Enjoy your day, it’s always a pleasure…(And the Spring shoes are hitting the stores! …Ah, Spring…Baseball and pastel shoes! 7. Hi, all! Clue words: I had to self-jumble POETRY 7 times. With DELUGE, first I wanted to leave it โ€œas isโ€ as in โ€œI glueed the 2 papers togetherโ€ just for fun. Then I decided I would try to โ€œdeglueโ€ the 2 papers. Last, I got serious & put DELUGE.

We have taken so many โ€œroad tripsโ€ over the years that I thought โ€œROWED TRIPโ€ was an extremely clever and fun pun. It made me smile.

Last night I told Mike I thought that with our Exclusive Interview With David L. Hoyt and our I LOVE Jumble Coffee Mug Giveaway, his Jumble Answers site is a real happeninโ€™ place!! Thanks again, Mike, for all the fun!!

    • Youโ€™re most welcome, Lelia! There are other โ€œJumble Answerโ€ websites out there that are, in my opinion, boring and cold. Thereโ€™s no open forum to discuss what you like or dislike and they donโ€™t feel welcoming. You want to leave those websites as soon as you arrive. I felt the need to go beyond just giving answers and have giveaways and other fun stuff like the interview with David. I told you 2018 was going to be a great year and I have MUCH MORE up my sleeve. Stay tuned! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  8. Hi all – ROBIN took me about 10 tries. (My ROBIN isnโ€™t only RED, RED, heโ€™s ROCKINโ€™!) WHARF would have been difficult if it hadnโ€™t reminded me of the Grateful Deadโ€™s โ€œWharf Rat.โ€ I figured the answer must be TRIP (speaking of the Dead), but had to write the letters to see ROWED.

I had to laugh at the incongruous happy look on one and only one rowerโ€™s face. Thereโ€™s always one, isnโ€™t there? I admire his ability to look on the bright side, but I suspect heโ€™s about one minute from getting chucked overboard.

Have a great day and weekend!

Angela, I love it when a lyric is familiar but I canโ€™t place it. I also love it when it does come back to me in about a minute because itโ€™s reassurance that my memory is still at least somewhat working, and it also brought back the other great songs on that album, thanks!

๐ŸŽตโ€Broken heart don’t feel that bad,
You ain’t got half of what you thought you had.
Rock your baby to and fro
Not too fast and not too slow.

I say row Jimmy row. Gonna get there? I don’t know.
Seems a common way to go.
Get down and row, row, row, row, row.โ€๐ŸŽต
