Good Morning, Everyone!           💪🏻 BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP? 💪🏻

🎶 Why do you BUILD me up (BUILD me up) Buttercup, Baby, Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around….And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, Baby, when you say you will (say you will) but I love you still…I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin’, you know that I have from the start…So BUILD me up (BUILD me up) Buttercup, don’t break my heart..🎶 – “Build Me Up Buttercup” -The Foundations – 1968

💪🏻 A man upon a ladder…they’re thinking stud it seems
A Pergola is going up…but they’re not thinking beams…
They’ve come outside to watch him, you think to GAUGE his work?
But au contraire what they’re thinking is…”Wonder if he twerks”?
A BALLAD’s playing softly, as they stare mesmerized,
A mumbo GUMBO mix of thoughts are showing in their eyes…
The Pergola will help ADJOIN the outside with the in,
But right now all they’re thinking is perhaps adjoining him?
Here’s hoping that the work gets done ’cause fantasies fulfilled?
Might not be good for business, Girls…despite that real GOOD BUILD! 💪🏻

A brand new week, a brand new group of words to WORK with. All Sweet Repeats, and WOOD you believe we’ve seen GAUGE as recently as June 12th? Now who PLANned that? Hmm..So, on the LEVEL? I don’t think we could call our words today totally easy, breezy, but I will say that the anagrams are really GOOD. The one I blinked at? ADJOIN…Our cartoon: Today we find ourselves in a backyard watching a CARPENTER put up a Pergola. Perched upon a LADDER, he seems oblivious to the admiring glances that he’s getting from the HOME owner and her friend. Our ladies are a little agog over his CHISELED jaw among other things, and they’re not ASHamed to show it…Or say it. I mean, he does have quite a BUILD…Those arms, that chest…Yes, he is rather graciously enDOWELed…And he does look as GOOD as the WORK he’s doing…Let’s FACE it…he’s JOIST a STUD…So our ladies can’t help but notice his GOOD BUILD! Well that HAMMERed it HOME now, didn’t it? I guess David SAW AXEactlwhat our ladies did!

Ok, eye candy…I like the CIRCULAR SAW on the ground, but I could get aROUND it. And the PLANKS of WOOD?…Too PLANE. The NAILS in our CARPENTER’S mouth? I guess there’re AWL right, but a little BORINGLOOKSCREW am I kidding? ? I’d be MALLETjusted to KNOT admit the obvious…The eye candy? It’s definitely HIM“, she SHED! So, There you have it BOLTS, Done! Have a great day, Everyone!…And a little adVISE? …Don’t go AXEing for trouble…Hire a CARPENTER who’s KNOT a TOOL! 💪🏻🙋🏻

FYI: Good Morning, Everyone! I think I’ll put this out there…
My struggling-actor Hoosier friend Chip called me last night. We usually speak every morning before the sun comes up, but on Sundays he likes to sleep. Or he’s MIA…Either way, I didn’t get to speak with him until late last night. And he called to voice his disappointment in me! Yes, that’s how he phrased it…”Disappointment”! He does has a flair for the dramatic..Obviously not that great a flair…Hence the “struggling” actor part! 😂 (Payback, Chip)! Anyway…Yesterday’s puzzle…The Tower. Encased in scaffolding at the bottom..Shows right there in the cartoon. And I missed it completely. The Tower has been under construction since August of last year, and will be until 2021. So, my musings about the couple possibly being David and Claire? Uh…obviously not. My theory about Throw-Back Sunday? Uh…obviously not. My eagle eye? …According to Chip? Definitely not!! 😂  I just didn’t see it…And ENCASE you’re reading this Chip? A public Kudos for you, my little Hoosier Honey!

  1. The builder had to GAUGE the possibility to ADJOIN the stage for the BALLAD performance with the old GUMBO shack along the bayou.
The only clue word to slow me down was BALLAD but that was just a short pause in the beat.
The solution? Pretty clear-cut after I studied the cartoon and the two word answer.
Like your song Angela, but are you testing us by not saying who the performer was? I have to confess I don’t know.
As far as your poem and post are concerned—-I’ll skip over the ::”twerking” and other prurient references and just put the whole thing down to lady-like interest in male “eye-candy.”
I’l check in later during a break. Have a good start to the week, everyone.

    • Good Morning, Earl. Sorry I missed you earlier, I went to sleep for a few hours. I’m chuckling at your “prurient”…Do you have any idea how much I had to bite my tongue this morning? 😉 I’ve BOREd a hole into it! Don’t shoot the messenger with that Nail Gun! You do know I don’t make the news, I just report it, right? 😂 The cartoon set the tone, I JOIST went with it! What can I say? 😂 Apologies for forgetting the artist with the song…I think that’s when I fell asleep! It’s there now…And your sentence? Delightful as always…As for the solution? Totally agree…Clear CUT as you say… And BALLAD with its BEAT? SKEW did well with them both, Sir! Have a good one, Earl…Talk to you later! 💪🏻🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. I wonder if my eyes are playing tricks. At first I saw Angela’s post with her choice for the song without the title or artist. Earl remarks about the mystery and when I go back to double check, the good fairy had it appear. Now I’m wondering if I dreamed it or did it really happen. There is a commercial in there somewhere. Another good choice by Angela which fits the theme. Earl follows up for the one two punch. Today’s jumble was in line with Monday’s easy start policy. Start us off with a win then slowly work us to a frenzy with the hard ones by the end of the week. I’m ready for that challenge. Today’s was a give me. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • ROTFL! Good Morning, Brooklyn! Cancel the appointment with the Ophthalmologist, Bud…it’s not you! Read above, save me the trouble of further damaging these NAILS! So, The Good Fairy? 😂 LOL…I’ve been called a lot of things in my day, but that’s a new one! You make my morning, Paul! You RAILy do! Thanks for the Shout Out, and we RAILy can’t complain about the puzzles, they’ve all been pretty easy LATHEly! Ok, Brooklyn…You know the DRILL…Have a good one, and don’t forget the sunSCREEN! 💪🏻🙋🏻

    • LOL..Thank You, Caro..I HAMMERED away at it for a while. You know, until I get BORED, and fell asleep…Then I JOIST SAW DUST …Must have been the SAND Man! We know it wasn’t Mother Nature! 😉 Have a good one, Big Guy…See ya on DECK at 4! 💪🏻🙋🏻

  3. No problem this morning, but gumbo seemed strange to me along with adjoin, but build was an obvious solution to the 5 letter word, quickly followed by good.Off to our 17 yr old granddaughter,Emily’s birthday party today!

    • Good Morning, Chuck. Yes, the solve was a gift. Adjoin was expertly anagrammed..And Gumbo? Not seen every day I guess. It got into my head though..😉 I’m pretty sure it’s what I’m going to cook for dinner tonight..So, 🎶On the Road Again🎶? Good to hear! Enjoy! And best wishes to Miss Emily! 🎈🎂🎈Have a good one, Sir! 🙋🏻

    • Hi Betty. Good Morning. Yes, it is an easy one. And cute, besides! 😉 Hope you have a great Monday too! Be well…💪🏻🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – No problem with the words. The first two letters for the answer (from GUMBO) were ‘BO’ which would have been noticeable but not admirable. Then I thought the answer might be “Nice nails” – like they admired his grooming also. Wrote out the letters and saw GOOD, and then the answer.

🎵”Fixing a hole in the ocean
Trying to make a dovetail joint, yeah
    Looking through a glass onion.”🎵

Good restraint Angela, and nice song. Glad you didn’t take the easy way out and pick anything by “The Carpenters.” The other one that comes to mind is “If I were a carpenter”, but I know it’s in my best interests to stop right there!

    Have a good Monday, everyone.

    • Restraint? HA! I had to scratch the first 3 poems! Well I really didn’t scratch them..I’m holding them on tap for another place, another time! 😂😂 Too much good MATERIAL!!..But for here, most of it couldn’t get INNUENDO…or past the censors! 😂 I JOIST did the Carpenters last Monday, so I didn’t want to PEAK them again, and I MITER considered 🎶If I Had a Hammer🎶 but we already knew he did! 😷 And the Beatles? You know what they say about people who live in 🎶Glass Onions🎶, right? Keep your eyes PEELED? So, I went with what I figured FIT best…And how cool the group? Kind of just set the GROUND WORK, wouldn’t you say? 😂 …And yes, 😂😂 I catch your DRIFT.😷 WOOD a Lady KNOT? 😉 Good one! Have a great day, G. Talk to you later! 💪🏻🙋🏻 ..PS: I lied…Definitely not the Carpenters! 😉

  5. Well, you did use the word “speculate” yesterday! Curious to know whether the Jumbles in August and September of last year showed Big Ben with scaffolding?

    • Hi Clay…Yes, Sir, I most definitely did, didn’t I? And went so far as to say “IF I were to speculate” with an emphasis on the “IF”. Thank you so much for noticing. And I did point that out to my dear Chip. 😉 But, alas…he cut me no slack! The humanity! That’s ok though, I consider every knock a boost, and I took it in stride. But, as you can see, although I’m humble, Sir, I’m no saint…Hence my “struggling” comment! LOL…As for last years cartoons, the August one was pre-construction, and as far as I know, the panels are submitted a minimum of six weeks before publication date, so the scaffolding wouldn’t have been in place yet; and the September one was set some time in the 19th century. It just goes to show Jeffs’ minute attention to detail once again. I applaud him 👏🏻, it was very well done. And thank you again, Sir for your pat on the back, it’s much appreciated. I trust your Sister is doing well, with her puzzles being as “current” as Jeffs cartoons? I hope so…Be well, Kind Sir, and have a great evening! 🙋🏻

      • Actually missed yesterday’s now that you ask, so if you happen to remember to put the link to it, I would be much obliged. I still haven’t found the past puzzles on that site! Thank you!

        • Of course, Sir. Very happy to help…And you’re very welcome. Here’s yesterday’s puzzle.

As far as past days, once you open to the main page for Puzzles and Comics, which I’ve included here also, each day begins with Comics, and ends with a Crossword. If you continue to scroll, after the X-word, the next day begins. I’ve just scrolled down to the end of July 3rd. Of course umpteen ads may show here and there…but that’s a small price to pay for the free access I suppose. Let me know if it works for you…🙋🏻

          • Yes, I see it now Angela. Thank you! Could be an interesting idea to post the link to Sunday’s on Sunday since so many people don’t get it in their papers or know where it is online. I do both the Uclick one and the one you all do! Of course there could be a legal problem with promoting the Poststar, I don’t know. Appreciate the link and the help in finding it every week from now on!

            • Again, Sir, you’re very welcome. Anytime. Please don’t ever hesitate to ask for any assistance, I get immense pleasure from helping others. Contrary to popular belief, not all New Yorkers are rude and always in a rush! 😂 (Once again, a little dig for dear Chip…that whole “rising above” thing can be so over-rated)! ROTFL! …It’s funny you mention the Sunday puzzles, since just this morning, I was thinking about the U-Click vintage puzzles. I’ve found a site that allows me to see them only, and they bring back wonderful memories of my Father. He taught me to do the Jumble when I was knee high to a Grasshopper, and I enjoy seeing the old time drawings. I was thinking of putting up the words and solution only for it, in addition to these current ones. My paper also offers “Jumble For Kids”, and I could post that also. The NY Daily News is a potpourri of puzzles on Sunday’s. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but every once in a while, a reader will comment on a Sunday that their words are different…And I have a few out of state friends whose papers only carry the vintage one. It would allow me to appease them all in one fell swoop! 😂 I’m going to mention it to Mike and see what he thinks. The decision is his. As far as posting the link from the Post Star, I don’t feel it would pose a problem, since it would only be on Sunday. Jeff had told us at one time, that it shouldn’t be promoted in lieu of a newspaper, since a lot of livelihoods depended on print publications. But as we’re saying here, it would just be for that one day, for those who have no access to it. I think it’s a wonderful idea. Again, I’m glad I could be of help, Clay, and I hope you’re enjoying your evening. Be well. Sir. 🙋🏻
