CARTOON ANSWER:
THE GOLFER’S TEE SHOT ENDED UP IN A YARD AS A RESULT OF IT BEING HIT – – –
FOSCROEFU = OFF COURSE
Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! TONDRE was the only anagram to slow me down this morning. Breaking it up into two words (ROD & TEN) made RODENT come to mind instantly. Looking at all of the completed words, FLOSS was in alphabetical order making it the first abecedarian word we’ve seen in quite a while. David wasn’t able to stump me this morning, so I moved on to the cartoon to see if Jeff could get the job done.
Looking at just the drawing, we see a man in a golf cart having a conversation with a woman who is setting up to take a swing at a golf ball. Reading the dialogue and sentence, we learn the Matt doesn’t think Dolly should make the shot from someone’s backyard. Dolly seems intent on following through with her decision, and if you look closely, you can see she has her eyes fixated on the hole.
Without enough information for a blind solve, I wrote out the clue letters. Despite the letters being very well jumbled, the solution came instantly leaving us with a funny golf themed pun.
There were a few interesting details in the cartoon that definitely deserved a second look. We see the word “Jumble” written in cursive on Matt’s golf club bag as well as on Dolly’s club. The little gopher on Matt’s club was an obvious reference to the movie Caddyshack, and if you look extra close at the tulips, you see two dead ones that Dolly apparently crushed by climbing over the fence! The little garden gnome holding a golf club was the star of the show for me which added a touch of whimsy to the panel.
I have some exciting news that I’ll be sharing with you in the next couple of days. If you enjoy the daily Jumble as much as I do, you’re not going to want to miss this announcement! Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow. 🙂
