Happy Wednesday, Jumble friends! After a week of fun in the Florida sun, I’ve made my way back home to the Arctic tundra of New England just in time for another snowstorm. With the forecast calling for 12+ inches of the white stuff, it was sure nice to see that Jeff has things heating up in the kitchen for today’s cartoon. More on that in a moment after we first take a gander at David’s handiwork.

All of the clue words were quickly solved this morning with HATCH being the only anagram to require an extra look. It wasn’t difficult after I gave up trying to make words starting with “CH”. I suppose David layed it out that way on purpose to throw us off track and I definitely took the bait. If you’re visiting for the first time today, I’m pretty sure that you came for help with STIGMA so it’ll be my pick for the most difficult anagram to decipher.

Moving along to the cartoon we see three people in a kitchen and everyone looks so upset. At first glance, I thought the man on the left was holding a clevar while he was arguing with the woman at the grill! After reading the dialogue and sentence, and upon closer inspection of the cartoon, it turns out that he’s holding a turner (sometimes mistakenly called a spatula) instead. The argument is about who cooks tastier tubers, and they are both adamant that their style is the better choice. The waitress with her butterfly hairpin could care less about the petty argument as she has hungry customers waiting for their orders.

The surprise answer was an instant solve with all of the detail in the cartoon and the key words of “breakfast potatoes” in the sentence. HSH was coupled together in the layout giving me HASH and the rest of the answer flowed naturally.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
