1. Good morning. Thank you Mike for that information. As try as she Might,the Third grader could not Peddle her two wheeler to the Finish line. No problem with today’s words with just a lay over on peddle. That would be my pick for the hardest word. The cartoon answer was 2/3 a blind solve. I had to write down the letters to get the first word. Until tomorrow stay well.

         Even though I’m not a Cavs fan, (as you know), I’m not a Celtics fan either. But it kind of hurts watching the Cavs play. Something’s so off. Fatigue? The whole team? Can they only win at home? That’s crazed. But if that’s the case, and they pull it off trow night, and force that Game 7? Then what? They’re back in Boston! I just don’t know, Sir. And rumor has it, we’re looking at Houston-Boston. Yikes! But I was never one to give much credence to rumor! 😂 And I’d much rather see another Cavs-Warriors match up…-So, what to do?    🇬🇧 Today will mark the THIRD time we’re talkin’ ’bout Big Ben,
   We came here back in August, and September came again…
   You MIGHT remember visiting, or maybe you do not…
   But it’s looking like the Jumble men for Ben have a soft spot.
   Do you think they maybe PEDDLE for the London Tourist Board?
   Or is it just affinity for all the Ladies and the Lords?
   Whatever is the reason, these tourists we do see,
   And they may FINISH their trip without a visit to BB.
   So now they may be sorry for the reason and the rhyme,
   That cost the scheduling mishap, when they couldn’t FIND THE TIME. 🇬🇧

   There were no snags with today’s words…I tried a quick search to see if we’ve had them before, but I didn’t have enough TIME. Regardless, they were easy, PEASY, and quickly SCENE. On to our cartoon. Once again today, for the third time in recent Jumble history, we’re in London. Jeff’s showing us a TOWERist couple, who appear to be European to me. Overton, known as OVER to his friends, and Cecily, known as SEAS, are at Buckingham Palace. From OVER and SEAS dialogue and our question, we see that the next stop on their itinerary was Big Ben. If I may, I’d like to take a little side TRIP here, and mention that a lot of Americans refer to the Tower itself as BIG BEN, when in reality, BEN is just the BELL. The Towers’ name is Elizabeth. LIZ and learn, I always say. (And at this time, the BELL is silent, undergoing renovations), Anyway, it seems there’s been a monkey SPANNER thrown into the mix here. Lack of TIME management has obviously caused a bit of a snag, and they realize that they’ll never make their train and make the visit. It is what it is. No use getting BELLigerent. It’s a ROYAL pain, but what can they do? The train, in vain to miss would be insane! Anyway, to answer our question…They couldn’t …FIND THE TIME! DING! DONG! Done! Good one, David! You come through every TIME! Ok, eye candy. Today, Folks, we’ve hit the Mother Load! Maybe the QUEEN Mother Load! Jeff has outdid himself…Ok, HEIR goes…OVER is holding a map, showing intricate street grids. He has a camera around his neck, and a FANNY PACK around his WAIST! I got a good BELLY laugh over that. SEAS has a cell phone, which she’s using to snap a picture of the QUEEN’s armed SENTRY GUARD, resplendent in his red tunic and Bearskin hat. You can actually see his image imposed on her screen. I’m a little out of FOCUS on this, though, because I thought the GUARD would be sporting a white belt. The buttons on his tunic look right, but the missing belt sort of threw me for a LOOP. Jeff? Anything? I like the FINIALS atop the gating, nice TWIST on things. But the best SIGHT to SEE today? SEAS purse! It’s made out of the UNION JACK flag! Red, white and blue! SMASHING! Even though it doesn’t match the purple outfit at all, it still REIGNS supreme! So, There you have it, BLOKES, Done! CHEERIO, and I hope you have a great one! And be sure to FIND some TIME for yourselves today! 🔔🇬🇧🙋🏻

5. The cricketer MIGHT have to PEDDLE his bat on High Street since he was not able to FINISH the THIRD day’s innings.
   Thanks Mike for the background on Big Ben and Elizabeth Tower— and Angela referenced the dates when Big Ben appeared in the previous Jumbles.
   Your song was great Angela and I enjoyed your SPANNER mention. All you needed was to throw in BONNET and BOOT and WINDSCREEN and we would have had Jolly Good Time on the LIFT to the UNDERGROUND. Enough of this I’ll pack it in now.

     Since he was already scheduled to bring his car into the GARAGE to replace the broken WINDSCREEN, he felt it prudent to have the mechanic take a look under the BONNET also; and in anticipation, decided to empty out the BOOT. Hopefully, this would insure his not having to resort to using the UNDERGROUND again. Last time, with the LIFT being out of order, he had tripped on the stairs, and torn a hole in his new trousers.

6. Like Mike, this was a quick solve this morning. Blind solve on the surprise answer, and straight through on the CWs. With an apostrophe, FISHIN would have been just fine!

7. Seems like we had an easy time of it today. Thanks for all the information about Big Ben, Mike. I had a Baby Ben alarm clock when I was in college. Love the Grandfather Clock song Earl. It reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode with Ed Wynn whose grandfather clock was slowing down and he was convinced that he would die if it stopped. As I recall, he was right. Have a good Thursday everyone.

   • At first I wasn’t quite sure what you meant by “Baby Ben” alarm clock so I had to Google it. I was thinking the clock might be in the shape of a tower or something and was surprised to see it’s just a small round clock. 😂

8. Mike, the company also made a larger alarm clock called Big Ben that had a much louder alarm. One of my classmates had a terrible time getting up in the morning and had that model. She slept right through the alarm but I could hear it next door so would go knock on her door to make sure she got up in time for class.

   • Your classmate sounds like me! My problem was that I’d keep hitting the snooze button and then go back to sleep. My solution was to move the clock across the room so I’d have to get up to turn it off. Worked like a charm! I don’t have to do that anymore because I keep a tight sleep schedule and am almost always up naturally. My grandmother NEVER had a clock and woke up the same exact time every morning. That always amazed me!

9. Hi all – Easy solve on everything today.

   Angela, I liked the nice touch of the song both referencing the subject of time and being by a British invasion band. And the Union Jack bag reminds me of pictures of Carnaby Street fashion in the Swinging London of the 60’s. From Wikipedia:
   “Carnaby Street was satirised by The Kinks in their 1966 hit, “Dedicated Follower of Fashion”, which contains the line ‘Everywhere the Carnabetian Army marches on, each one a dedicated follower of fashion’ ”.

   I like the puzzle, but nothing really captured my imagination today, so I’ll just wish you all a great Thursday!

10. Hi, all! My “instant solve” for the cartoon was “take the time” or “make the time” until my FINISH of the last word giving me FIND THE TIME. Back at the third word, I knew that “puddle” was not correct, but it took two more glances for me to see PEDDLE.

    I took Jerry to the dental surgeon this morning to have the post of his upcoming implant removed and changed to a smaller one, as requested by our dentist who thought it was too large. This will add 3 more months to his final recuperation, getting his beautiful white crown, and no more looking like a homeless person. He has a fake tooth called a flipper to wear, but he won’t wear it.

    Our cardiologists can’t agree on proper treatment for Jerry and now the dentists are disagreeing!! Horrors!

    Mike, congratulations on your speedy solve today. If it makes you happy, it makes me happy. Thank you so much for your Happy Birthday to Joyce. She told me to thank you, so Thank You!! We did enjoy her birthday lunch of Cracker Barrel food, which I will tell you about soon. Yum! Sorry to hear that you’re having to cut back on salt. I have such low blood pressure, our dr. tells me to eat more salt.

    Steve, thank you for the site to the Pale Blue Dot photograph taken from the Voyager. I read a lot by Carl Sagan years ago but don’t remember the Dot and couldn’t find it in the picture until I read the directions of where it was. Thank you, also, for Refuge of the Roads by Joni Mitchell. At first I thought I might have the wrong song until I finally found your words in the 5th verse. I loved the words, “…couldn’t see a city…Or me here least of all.” Powerful!!
