Jumble Answer for 06/18/2017

There was no SINE of a PROBLEM FIGURING out TWOday’s words. The only ONE that caused me to blink was the FIRST, Gravel. Blinked TWICE actually, but then there it was. I must ADDmit, I wasn’t thrilled seeing this puzzle; I was never PARTIAL to MATH. MATH classes? OH no! Never FUNCTIONed well. Always felt like I was going around in CIRCLES. Always had such a NEGATIVE attitude… Lost COUNT of the NUMBER of times, I was thrown out for too many inFRACTIONS! LOL…I just couldn’t see the POINT. I inTENded to be an ODDthor, why did I need all this? This whole 2N + 2N was 4N to me! Left me TOTALly nonPLUSsed! OH, sorry, FOURgive me. How IRRATIONAL, going off on a TANGENT like this! Let’s get back to the puzzle…GrEIGHT words TWOday, I’m thinking are SUM new? Either way, easy as Pi, and scrambled with just the right AMOUNT of inTRIG! Once done, and the CIRCLEd letters COMBINED, we see Father, then the REMAINing letters give us FIGURING. And the cartoon pretty much SUMmed it up! The cartoon gives us the resident “B in P”, this time holding a cell phone. ACUTE touch! And my choice for eye candy? Those little fingers twirling the hair. I love seeing kids do that…So sweet. ReMINUS of anyone we know?
PS…I have to throw this in, only because it just fits so well…I went to the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island, NY yesterday. So many women dressed as denizens of the sea! They wore the most beautiful…ALGAE BRAS! Β  (I just couldn’t resist)!! Β β€οΈπŸ‘¨πŸ»πŸ’”

Wishing Everyone a TOTALly wONEderful Day! βž•βž–βž—βœ–οΈ πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. The Pa with the GRAVELly voice had a GRITTY sense of humor but needed to make no EXCUSES about it because he had INVENTed a HIGHLY profitable drilling tool and could AFFORD to be a little risque.
Angela I think we must be “long-lost” distant cousins! Feel the same about math and struggled with it from 5th grade to university. Loved your math puns and word play but groaned out loud with the Algae-bras one! No more needs to be said and I am headed for a day of sailing in the Fingerlakes.
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there.

  2. Hi, Earl, Good afternoon. I’m sorry I couldn’t get back to you SCHOONER. Cemetery, Church, AHOY lot had to get done this morning. As we’ve come to know, we can always COUNT on you for a top KNOTch sentence! You even managed to imPArt upon us the Father theme! You’re getting better all the time! Kudos! Yes, We cerTENly do seem to be kindred spirits. I couldn’t make up enough EXCUSES to avoid Math. Danced all around, but just didn’t have the right ALGORITHM! My professors simply lost paTENTHS with me.
I was dubbed the original weapon of MATH destruction, I was disBARGEd! LISTless about the whole thing, AFTer years of lost APORTunity, I just BOWed to defeat! But hey, I can BALANCE the checkbook, and CALCULATE baseball PERCENTAGES, it’s been clear SAILING!!! I can’t believe you groaned at my ALGAE BRAS! It was stuck in my head all day yesterday RAFTer the parade! LOL..What a FLUKE!
So, here…just for you, the “Old Math and the Sea”!! ROTFL!!
I hope you have a grEIGHT day out on the water, I’m SHORE it’ll BOUY your spirits. Enjoy! πŸ›₯βž•πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. Hi, all! Fun and easy puzzle today. Had to write only half the words in a circle, numbers 1,4, & 6, the others came quickly. Math & language were my two favorite subjects in school. See you tomorrow.

  4. Steve, after you told me that a poster was β€œone who posts” & not a picture on your wall I figured out your comment. Your comments are clever & deep. Will explain tomorrow. Enjoy your day.

  5. Hi all – Same here with the pause at GRAVEL, but no idea about the clue until I wrote out the letters. FIGURING jumped right out leaving FATHER obvious.

Really excellent math puns today Angela both in quality and quantity, especially from an admitted mathophobe. I know many scream “e!” at the thought of a math class. I hope I’m not being too OBTUSE, but perhaps if they were to INTEGRATE some TRANSCENDENTAL meditation into their already COMPLEX pre-class routine, it would help to TRANSFORM their fears from REAL to IMAGINARY.
(And by the way, there will never be a post that cries out more for the “Inflationary Language” treatment than yours today!)

I should now go “Watch Mr. Wizard” on my local PBS station, kQED.

    Have a great day everyone.

    • Hi Steve…GRAVEL..Probably will PROVE to be the PROBLEM for today. Thanks for the kind words, it’s so GNEISS of you! I see you’re trying to give Earl a run for his money! To the VICTOR πŸ˜‰ goes the spoils! And so on, and so FIFTH!! I take it as the ultimate compliment! The man was a genius! πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • I am absolutely NOT trying to compete with Earl; I have no desire to, and no hope of winning πŸ˜„ On the contrary, I am genuinely impressed and delighted to see him exhibit true creativity – to invent a new category that had not to my knowledge been imagined before – the sentence made up of the clue words. An enhancement we all can enjoy. πŸ‘

        • Down Boy! The context…I was trying to segue into the VICTOR reference. We are on the same page with it, no? Speaking of pages, should this be here? The lines ARE blurred. And you sure are full of compliments today, aren’t you? LOL. Won’t work…I’m pretty sure I’m already Earl’s ❀️ favorite….ROTFL. πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

          • I understand – that’s what the smiling emoji was supposed to convey. All good!

  6. Back from sailing and I am wind-blown, sun-brown and genuinely glad to sit still and revel in all the “mentions” I got in various posts. Next weekend I’ll be busy with visiting relatives, so be prepared for a holiday from my ruminations. Is that the word I think I want? Doesn’t look right. I may have confused ruminate with some other “ate” word. Oh well, Angela will translate for me if things don’t add up

    • Earl, And honorable mentions were they all! So relaxing on the water, right? The sun, the motion, the salt air…ok, yes, the Margaritas! Lulls me right to sleep! Wind blown? Not balmy breezed? I hope it was restful for you. Ruminations: deep thoughts. Yes, ADDS up just fine! Enjoy the rest of your day! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  7. Excellent job, Angela! Thanks for filling in and giving me the day off to spend with my family. I hope all of the Dad’s out there had a super Father’s Day, and I look forward to tomorrow’s puzzle. Have a great evening everyone! πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ»
