Jumble Answers for 09/05/2017

OMESO = MOOSE

NITUP = INPUT

BNLIEB = NIBBLE

RLAMYW = WARMLY

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE WHEEL HADN’T QUITE BEEN INVENTED, BUT THE WHEELS —

OOEINTNIEWRM = WERE IN MOTION

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday!  The first two clue words were solved in a flash, and the last two were solved after just a few seconds of hesitation.  NIBBLE would have to edge out WARMLY as my pick for the most difficult word.  Moving along to the cartoon, it’s another beautifully drawn piece featuring two cavemen as well as quite a few extras.  Almost everyone will notice the parietal Jumble puzzle art on the wall and I couldn’t help but notice that the final solution to that cartoon is only 3 letters long.  It’s either a very primitive form of the Jumble or a Monday morning solve!  Although these cavemen struggle to perfect the wheel, they seem to have already mastered self-grooming techniques as shown by the impeccably trimmed sideburns and mustache for the man on the left and a neatly brushed and tied beard for the man on the right.  These two definitely raised the bar for the caveman look as my perception was that they all looked like Captain “Cavey” Caveman from the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons.  The solution to this puzzle was quite simple and my guess turned out to be correct.  IN being already nestled together in the letter layout would be a great help if you were stuck right out of the gate.  Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!  πŸ™‚

  1. Good morning, Mike. Great post. I’m starting to think we’re sharing some thought processes! You have my sympathies! πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. 🎢”If you come down to the river, bet you gonna find some people who live, you don’t have to worry ’cause you have no money, people on the river are happy to give…Big WHEEL keep on TURNin’, Proud Mary keep on burnin’…ROLLIN’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river.. Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river…”🎢
    WHEEL, WHEEL, What have we here? I’ll give you my INPUT in a minute, let’s take a NIBBLE at these words first: Nothing EARTH SHATTERing, easy, breezy, ROLLED right through. On to our cartoon: I have to START by saying, I’m totally DIGGING the look of Cave Man Left! What’s up with him? The hair, the mustache, the sideburns? ROCK of (what) Ages? Shades of 1975? This might be the STONE Age, in more ways than one! The man is groomed, I think he found a whole new use for that chisel! Laid back, SLO-MAGNON look…Is he ready for a night of CLUBBING, or what? Ok, MOVING right along….Cave Man Right is on the right track. He’s in the right WHEELhouse! You keep CHISELing away, Big Guy, you’ll get aROUND to it sooner or later! He put the plan into action, those WHEELS “WERE IN MOTION”! Good one Dave, REVOLUTIONARY! Very INVENTIVE! Now for the eye candy. Make no BONES about it, this cartoon has my eyes ROLLING! Besides the side-SPLITTING laughter I got from Cave Man Left, Jeff’s got me seriously CRAGging up over the Hieroglyphics! A Jumble puzzle? That classic image of the hunter we’ve always seen?…I’ll SPEAR you the details…But the three letter answer? What is he hunting? WHEEL, it can’t be a MOOSE…it must be a GNU! Jeff’s given us a whole GNU meaning to “the writing’s on the wall”! And if the little puzzle hadn’t WHEELed me in, I PEBBLEly would have gone with that Man Bun. HAIRlarious! Ok, enough of my BOULDERdash for today. I’ll wrap up before I’m a STONEs throw away from hitting ROCK bottom! But, while I’m still BARESKIN’ WARMLY in puzzle after-glow, a final thought. In life, nothing’s set in STONE, and we shouldn’t take too much for GRANITE. Live by the Golden Rule…It’s SEDIMENTary, my Dears!
    Have a GRATE day, Everyone! ROCK ON! βš’ πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Hey, Good morning, Big Guy! I’m noticing it’s been a lot of cake…TREAD lightly…could TURN into another ice cream situation…Just Sayin’ πŸ˜‰πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Moose…The Foundation I was telling you about y’day? J J Watt’s? GMA saying this morning, he’s reaching 20 mil! There’s a petition started to rename State Hwy 99 in Texas to JJ Watt Parkway. Yep, he wears #99! Defensive end for the Houston Texans….Might have an addition to my Jersey collection. I’m sure the Giant fans are ‘gonna love me for this one! πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

        • I’m hoping so. He deserves it. I put my name right on there. Wishing you a good day, too….πŸˆπŸ™‹πŸ»
          Oh, did you mean the Giants fans loving me? I’m anticipating the angst! LOL. πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. When the ranger was asked for INPUT about whether the MOOSE could be allowed to NIBBLE on the lichen, he firmly but WARMLY said it should not be encouraged.
    No troubles this AM with clue words or solution.
    I agree that the cartoon is drawn cleverly and your observations about the grooming was spot on. You only missed the strategically placed bone in the “man bun” which gave me a giggle.
    But Angela wrapped her head around that “man bun” and braided enough puns to get whoever that princess was in the tower and used her hair to get her lover up to her.

    • Good morning, Earl. Thank you. I’m not sure if you realize that your name is missing. But there’s no mistaking your work! It’s spot on, as usual! (I love saying “spot on”)! I agree the bone was too cute to pass up. That’s why I went with the “no BONES about it”! RaPUNzel is the princess you’re alluding to, who oddly enough is always pictured as blonde, and dressed in purple! A perfect princess for the Jumbles! One of my nieces took an exceptional liking to her, and asked that we call her by that name. So we did…for months…If you knew my last name, coupled with RaPUNzel, you’d truly get a giggle….! Enjoy your day! πŸ‘ΈπŸ» πŸ‘‘

      • Angela–it’s Earl, even though my name will not appear since I am using my desktop today. Thanks for jogging my memory with Rapunzel—just didn’t come quickly and I didn’t want to use Goggle. I need to investigate how I can get my name to show up here. Enjoy your day and use whatever supernatural powers you have to keep the dreaded Irma away from US.

    • That caveman wouldn’t have had to use Rapunzel’s hair to elevate himself if he had just used his RUMPLED-STILT-SKINS.

  4. Like you, Mike, warmly and nibble took me a bit longer. If names were acceptable, Putin would have worked. I tried winner first for the answer but then found were to start.

    • Hi, Caroline! The -LY in WARMLY made it a quicker solver than NIMBLE, so that was my reasoning behind picking NIMBLE. I bet once you found WERE, you were really on a roll (sorry, couldn’t help myself) with IN being together. Have a great day, and it’s always wonderful hearing from you. Take care! πŸ™‚

  5. Hi, all! Enjoyed your post, Mike, and thanks for teaching me a new word, β€œparietal.” Had to Google it.

    Reading the cartoon question, I thought it would be the wheels β€œkept on turning” meaning wheels in the guys head because he looks as though he is giving the matter some serious thought.
    Off to Costco. Enjoy your day, all.

    • You’re welcome, Lelia! I too had to google what the correct word for “caveman art” was and discovered that it’s parietal art. I went with hieroglyphics in an earlier draft, but changed it after discovering my mistake.
      So much humidity here! They say dry and cooler air is on the way. I’m looking forwatd to it. I hope your trip to Costco was productive. I do a lot of shopping at another warehouse club for items that I use often. Have a wonderful day. πŸ™‚

  6. Gotta be a cave in New England:
    “New Hampshire – BRAKE FOR MOOSE!”
    I see this as what Mike’s man-cave looked like when the Internet went out.

    All the bases ⚾️ have been covered already – thanks for “parietal”,
    70’s-BC dude (love the ‘stash’) and man-bun pre-millennial (or do I have “My Generations” wrong?

  7. Good afternoon. Waited till 12:30 and still it wasn’t posted so I went out. After I returned low and behold it appeared. Today’s puzzle (both parts) took less than five minutes to get. You could classify it as a Monday puzzle. Emjoyed it though especially the picture. Hats off to all those people that can draw. Always wished I could do that. Has to give you a lot of satisfaction. That and sing or play an instrument. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Paul. I think this may have happened to you once before. Mike put the post up at 8:30. If you see it’s getting late, and you don’t have the email, do what I suggested last time, and check the page and the calendar. It happens to me sometimes also. I think it’s happened to Earl too. I don’t know what causes it. Take care, have a good night! πŸ™‹πŸ»

        • Paul. When you got to the page did you look at the calendar on the left hand side? There you would see today’s date and you would just hit on that. Maybe I’m wrong. Does anyone else reading this know any other way to see the puzzle? πŸ™‹πŸ»
