  1. I certainly enjoyed the Friday J today. Cute but not too hard words followed by a great punny J solution! It took me 2:01 which is not great for me.
Hope you all are doing fine!

  2. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…
    🪧 BILLBOARDS…THEY JUST MAKE DOLLARS…AND SENSE! 🪧

🎶 Maybe my lucky star at last decided to shine…Maybe somebody knows how long I’ve waited to make you mine…it’s a SIGN of the times…🎶 “A Sign of the Times” – Petula Clark 1966 https://tinyurl.com/fenvsm9s

🪧 The board…no tactical GAMBIT, the woman’s savvy as they come,
And KUDOS she deserves…she takes no risk to get things done…
Business acumen…NIPPY, as the Brits are wont to say,
    And Cha-ching and jingle JANGLE…the investment’s sure to pay…
The Ad business, a tough one…but our girl is sure to shine…
Spend money so you’ll make it…and it’s all done BUY DESIGN! 🪧

Billboards are no strangers to the Jumble. We’ve had many a puzzle over the years where they’ve taken a starring role. In fact, we just had one in January. https://tinyurl.com/4s8uzn23 And we’ve had one in ‘20, and ‘19, and ‘18, and ‘17…and ‘16…Trust me..if you’ve SIGNed up for the Jumble? You’ve seen the Billboards…Big and bold, and doing their job…And let’s face it Folks, no one goes for the EXPENSE of a Billboard, unless it’s for a purpose…Unless it’s “BUY” (BY) DESIGN!

So…let’s get down to BUSINESS…Our asSIGNment today isn’t all that taxing. COST if you play daily, you’ll most likely recognize our words, as they’ve all been in play before. And except for a hedge or two with GAMBIT, (which unless you’re a chess player isn’t exactly an everyday word), the Early Birds quickly flew right through it all…solve included. And as usual, a few of them were quick to ADVERTISE it too. Ok, so granted, they are quite proficient when it comes to this game, but we keep telling them that too much self-praise could be taken as a SIGN of arrogance…And then one of them answered…”Well arrogance is bliss”…and needless to say, with that fractured idiom…we all laughed…Yes, they’re definitely a BERRA happy bunch…

Ok…Back to the drawing BOARD…So, out on the balcony of a city building, located in downtown Chicago, overlooking an elevated commuter train and other commercial properties, we find our entrepreneur of the hour, and a friend. OWNing up to the fact that she’s in it to win it, she’s all smiles as she sees her latest Billboard, previously reading “For Sale”, now pasted over to read “SOLD”. And one has to wonder if it’s the Jumble that’s gone for the Advertising hat trick here, since the two other Billboards facing us are reading…”Jumblecon”, and “Just Jumble – Free App”. Location location, location! (And there is a fourth blank one, off to the left, that’s still up for grabs). So the bottom line? It’s De-lightful, it’s De-licious, it’s… “BUY” DESIGN! https://tinyurl.com/7cmyzfbb

So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Have a good day, Everyone. Be well, stay safe…and I’m SIGNing off…BUY, BUY! 🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. 👏🏻 👏🏻 Clapping wildly along with the crowd giving KUDOS to the singer, the JANGLE of her multi-layered bracelets echoing loudly in the NIPPY night air, wasn’t meant to be a GAMBIT to gain attention, but BY DESIGN it wouldn’t have been all that bad of an idea…👏🏻👏🏻

🎲🎲 They called his move a GAMBIT, but he took it all in stride,
He stood hands in his pocket…it was still NIPPY outside…
They heard the JANGLE of his coins, he kept his nerves intact,
His confidence drew KUDOS…the man was a pro at craps…
He threw the dice, he made his point..as if it was assigned…
It wasn’t just the luck though…he knew he’d win BY DESIGN! 🎲🎲

  4. I slogged through the Jumble this morning. Seemed like GAMBIT slowed me down. Had all the letters in front of me, but my only thought was to take out SIGN and then see what I could do. Then Voila…it came to me. Good jumble, but not as easy as previous four days.

    • Voila, indeed, Terry. You were right on the money gleaning SIGN from the mix! KUDOS! 😉Hoping your morning’s going well…Take care…🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Good morning. A total brain freeze today. Could not get the simple word Kudos and then when I finally got Jangle I reversed the last two letters putting it down on paper which left me not getting the cartoon answer. Let’s hope tomorrow brings a better result. Loved your song video Angela and post. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn…Couldn’t get close to that Pallino this morning?😉 It happens…And I find myself getting tangLEd up with the EL vs LE at times too. But I’m sure you’ll fare better tomorrow…it’s a good one! And thank you…I’m glad you enjoyed what I was SELLING 😉this morning. Have a good one, Paul…wishing you stay well and safe too! 🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. I had the same problems as Paul,I had trouble w kudos, seeing dous-k instead, then seeing signed for the cartoon solution rather than design,a total Friday wipeout. Hopefully the weekend will work out better for me.

    • Good Morning, Professor. It’s funny that Kudos is popping up as a stumper, only because the word is seen so often here on the blog. I would say that Kudos 👏🏻👏🏻 are in order for David though…he did a great job scrambling those five little letters! Enjoy your day, Prof. 🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Though the lyrics of Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man” came to mind – “In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come following you” – I had to check to make sure Jangle was a real word. I figured Sign would be in the answer somewhere, which made finding the rest a lot easier. Thanks for pointing out Chicago, Angela. I’d miss so much in the puzzle if I didn’t check here.
    Wishing all a happy weekend.

    • “Tambourine Man”! I love it! And yes, Sign was definitely the sign! As for the location, of course my mind always goes to my hometown first. And there are some elevated trains in NYC, but not in Manhattan, what we natives refer to as the “City”. There are a few elevated trains in Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx, but most of them are only elevated for a portion of their routes. Where I lived in Brooklyn, my station was elevated, and I loved it. But today, Chicago is the only city in the US that still has elevated trains in its downtown area. So I figured that’s where we were https://tinyurl.com/4m9n2s6a Wishing you a good one, Caroline. Enjoy! 🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Ohh!! Very nice Caroline! Many people (including me) first heard The Byrds’ shorter folk-rock version of the song, but I’ve always loved the original also. And I’d much rather have that song rolling around in my head that the one I’ll mention in my post.

      • I’ve always loved that song, which is one of the earliest Dylan tunes I can recall hearing. Don’t think I’ve heard the Byrds version or the song you refer to in your post. Your clever sentence and use of “Jangle” made me laugh.

  8. FYI:…Today is 🍩 “NATIONAL DONUT DAY” 🍩…and in celebration, some local chains are offering free donuts. Check out your usual haunt to see if they’re participating with a Sweet Deal! Enjoy! 🙋🏻‍♀️

    • I hadn’t heard that, but Round Table Pizza just sent me a promo for National Cheese Day, which apparently happens today also. 🍕

    • Not a word we hear every day, Eleanor. And you’re still a winner in my book! Be well, and hope you’re enjoying your day! 🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Hi all – “KUDOS” was the word that took me the longest to get, despite the fact that Mike used it just yesterday. It’s just a word I don’t use or even see that much except here. And another one for the coincidence file; this is just too weird. For some reason I’ve had the song “I’ve got spurs that jingle jangle jingle” in my head the last few days, and here it appears!
I thought BUYING might be the second answer word given the ING and the fact that “purchasing” was used in the dialog, but a shift of BUY to the front showed the rest.

It’s kind of funny that they chose “Just Jumble” for the billboard, because of three apps I play every morning (that one, “Giant Jumble Crosswords” and “Word Search World Traveler”), that’s the one I can’t play because it hasn’t been updated for awhile. 😂

    Good wishes to everyone.

Petula Clark just had so many good songs – thanks for the memory of that one Angela. And also pointing out the Chicago ‘L’ elevated train which I drove beneath many times. I also first thought the picture was in New York, I guess from that line that was converted into a park – I figured there must be others.

“Bobby Fischer earned KUDOS for creating the clever GAMBIT that allowed him to JANGLE Spassky’s nerves in the NIPPY air of Reykjavik.”

    • Petulant Clark did..and if I’m not mistaken, she was still touring up until 2-3 years ago…well into her 80’s. God bless her…we should all be so lucky, right? But your song? What do you think SPURred the “Jingle Jangle” in my rhyme?! 😉…And Kudos? ..Not a day goes by! 😂 And as I said, I always think NY first, habit…but the High Line Park you’re thinking of was built on a freight train line, not a commuter line. I don’t ever remember an elevated line in the City…I think there was, but it was before my time. Reykjavik? 👏🏻👏🏻 An auto-correct delight! 😂 Have a good one, Steve. Enjoy! 🪧🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Steve…1955..the demise of any elevated trains in Manhattan. 🚆🙋🏻‍♀️

    • That is so funny, Steve! The “jingle, jangle, jingle” song! I remember my Dad singing that extremely early in the mornings, while he was getting ready for work! He was a morning person! A trait I definitely didn’t inherit! But getting much better at it, now! 🤣 Even when solving the word jangle, the song never came to mind, until I read it here. I agree on the weirdness and coincidental things that arise on here for us, or anywhere, for that matter! Always makes me think we are all interconnected somehow! Take care!

  10. Kay Kyser had the number one hit with Jingle, JANGLE, Jingle in July 1942. Catchy tune!

  11. I do too, Angela. We are fine. Thanks for asking. Have a fabulous weekend!

    • You too? Funny how certain songs TRIGGER a name, huh? Oh…wait…that’s a horse of a different cowboy! 😂 Again, always nice to see you Chuck…Have a good night, and wishing you a fabulous weekend too. All the best to you and yours. 🐴🙋🏻‍♀️
