  1. Harder than the rest of this week but still able to solve. Solution took me a while but I liked it when I got it! I liked the Stockholm hint, took me down a few rabbit holes.

    🧁You had to see this coming, I mean Stockholm was the key,
    And you couldn’t help but notice that we’re in a Bakery
    But this word to me a RARITY…a mouthful that’s for sure,
    “Kanelbulles? Yes, let’s EXHALE…(they’re sold right there in the store)
    The owner seems like he’ll BESTOW a cupcake on the house,
    And Mom doesn’t REBUKE him…so I guess there is no grouse
    Maybe Sven, her ENSIGN husband is why she’s getting two rolls,
    She’ll get home and then UNTUCK them from her Hinza totebag’s folds
    Then Elsa with her cupcake, will join them…a happy three…
    And they’ll all enjoy the sweet treats from their “SWEETISH” BAKERY! 🧁

    Sweden. Ok, so I have to be honest here. The extent of my knowledge? Meatballs, the Army knife, cheese, Ingrid Bergman and Henrik Lundqvist. (Be still my heart)…Oh wait, and Angie Dickinson, I think. But the bottom line, it’s not a whole lot. So glancing at today’s cartoon, (which is what I always do, solve first and then unscramble the words), the solve was immediate, but I was stopped dead in my tracks by Kanelbulles! (And it’s no picnic trying to get it past spell check, either)! I’d never read the word before, and couldn’t pronounce it, so I immediately looked it up; only to find that it’s just a Cinnamon Roll. And that figures, because I’m one of those people that tends to get a little tongue-tied saying Cinnamon! But anyway…today David’s baked us up a little Swedish delight..(no, not Angie Dickinson)…just as he did when we last visited back in January.. https://tinyurl.com/8xnchru2 Only today, he’s sweetened the pot!

    Our words…Ok. According to the Early Birds, today’s solve, despite those quotation marks, was hands down a lot easier than our words. Almost to a man, they paused here and there, and were initially heard tossing things around like Burkee, (Burkee)?…Genius, and I won’t even mention what UNTUCK invoked. And I sat here looking at them thinking…”Huh? This behavior is all Greek to me”…No pun intended. But they did do a double-take on almost every word…except for RARITY and EXHALE….(Which for me was a great sigh of relief…because I’ve never seen them question this many words at one time before)…And even though I found all the words except UNTUCK in the recent Archives, I think it’s the Rarity of a few of them being used in everyday conversation that caused the dustup. Anyway, a tip of the keps* to David this morning…he had the Early Birds pecking away! Ok…on to a sweeter subject…literally…

    Scene…A Bakery in Sweden. A Mother, Greta, and her young daughter, Elsa, have stopped by to savor the SWEET delights. The owner, Henrik, (yes, Henrik…see above), greets them warmly, and acknowledges Elsa’s pointing to the cupcakes. And as mentioned in my verse, I got the impression that he was offering it to the child gratis, which is often the case in a lot of the Italian bakeries around here. It seems that whenever someone behind the counter notices a child’s sudden wide-eyed wonder…they’ve scored a freebie. As well it should be…they’re only kids once. But I digress…So we hear the Mother, Greta saying,”It all looks so decadent”…(she’s great-a with those adjectives, right?)…as she looks over the enticing array of SWEETS….And then…Ba-boom! The aforementioned Kanelbulles! And she’s holding up her hand signifying that she’ll take two…So in answer to our question? Take the word BAKERY out of our letters…And the shop in Stockholm that sold all this decadence? Could it get any SWEETer?…A “SWEETISH” BAKERY! Yep, David’s definitely on a roll with this one!

    And the SWEET (eye) candy this morning? Well, it’s a little redundant…Because today we have Birthday cakes, pies, tarts, cheesecake, tortes, eclairs…and those Kanelbulles…just to name a few. But Jeff’s also given us the Stockholm skyline, and what I’m taking as the Hinza tote https://tinyurl.com/r68cc6kn that Greta’s toting. If you look real closely, you can see some other items within it that she’s purchased earlier. ‘Gotta hand it to those Europeans. They were way ahead of us when it came to reusable bags. Unfortunately, we took all our sweet time…

  4. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The ENSIGN was so accustomed to being in uniform, that the RARITY now of casual dress made him feel as if someone might REBUKE him…and he wished there was someone to BESTOW some fashion sense on him…tuck the shirt in, or UNTUCK, put the collar up, or keep it down…he definitely needed to EXHALE and quickly finish so that he’d be on time for opening of the new SWEDISH BAKERY. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    🙇🏻‍♂️ He needed now to EXHALE, his nerves were nearly shot,
    The RARITY of unawares had put him in a spot…
    He knew nothing ‘bout the ENSIGN, and no one had tried BESTOW
    An introduction and he will REBUKE them, that’s for ‘sho…
    His tongue he tried to UNTUCK, he could hardly speak clearly…
    As he stood and faced the man now, in the SWEDISH BAKERY! 🙇🏻‍♂️

  5. From Angela’s comments yesterday about the challenge coming Sunday….was expecting a difficult solve, but given the Stockholm clue, made it an easy solve. Stumbled longer than average on a couple of the words, but solved them okay. Glad it was not too cryptic. Twas a good jumble day.

My challenge comment y’day referred to today’s words. I think David strung together a few that aren’t all that easily seen, first glance. Great anagrams, IMO. Have a good one, Terry.   6. Bestow was my toughest word. At first I thought it might end in Est. i wasn’t sure if Untuck was right since I’ve been wrong on some un words in the past. Bakery made this one of my easier Sunday answers.

But I didn’t find it all that easy trying to pun about Sweden…I felt kind of neutral 😉 about the whole thing… And as for UNTUCK, I think UN words always tend to pose a problem. But BAKERY? Definitely no whisk taking there…David probably figured it was the yeast he could do for us…make it an easy one…Like baking candy from a baby! 😉 Enjoy your day, Caroline.   9. Anagrams went well,but I didn’t catch the Stockholm link to sweetish,so was stumped by the overall cartoon solution.Unfortunatly,for me,the additional Sunday anagrams and letters,seem to get me almost every time.

  10. Wasn’t sure if untuck was an actual word and had to back into rarity but the cartoon answer was an easy solve this morning. I’m not at all familiar with Swedish cooking or baking. I think the Army knife is Swiss not Swedish, Angela. Have a good day all.

  11. I got the words without problems. For the answer, I found hisweets and hissweet bakery, but not SWEETISH, although an obvious answer. My brain seems th have taken the morning off.

  12. Hi all – The words came pretty quickly today. I first saw SINGE before ENSIGN, and the UN trick showed UNTUCK. I thought the answer would be something like “Swedish delight”, but the letters gave “Sweetish” and the rest.

    JumbleAnswer hockey reference! Nice mention of Henrik Lundqvist, Angela. A fine player and man, and wishing him a complete recovery from his heart surgery. You could add many other players, like Peter Forsberg and the Sedin twins.
    If you’re going with Ingrid Bergman you could throw in Anita Ekberg and Ingmar Bergman and all his actors and actresses as well.
    I’ve mentioned before that my longtime officemate was a Swede from Duluth, and we shared many a lutefisk joke.

    Also Angela, I loved your song choice, but you know how I’m always reporting on the “Songs From The Ceiling” at Peet’s, Safeway etc.? Well I know exactly what’s playing in this bakery – another big hit from the 80’s – “She Drives Me Crazy”! 😂😂

    And speaking of that title, it’s driving me crazy that there’s another Swedish actress whose name I just cannot remember who was notable because she had taken language lessons to the point where she could speak English perfectly without any trace of an accent.

      • For the actress I’m trying to think of? No, she was in movies and television in the 70’s and 80’s I think – someone you would have expected to see being interviewed by Mike Douglas or Dick Cavitt.

        By the way, when I looked up the pastry, it took me to a site called “Give Me Some Oven” which I thought was pretty funny, and then when they described the dough, I was glad they didn’t use any cooking sherry in it, or the bakery clerk would have had to card-a-mom before serving her.
