Happy Monday, Mig! It’s vax day for both me and my wife. We chose the early morning appointment so I’ll see how I feel when I get home.
One thing I noticed about the cartoon though was the name of the pizza shop which was “Paul’s Pies.” Did Jumble Jeff give a shoutout to our buddy Paul from Brooklyn? Congratulations if so, Paul!

Unfair came to me after I realized circles had to contain U and N to complete “near-buy.” It’s unfair that I don’t have a cabin on the river “near-buy” a sweet singing canary. One week after my second vax and feeling good out here on the Great Plains. Spring has sprung mightily, putting a zip in the step and hearts of all good souls. Be safe.

This Jumble is UNFAIR to RIVER CABIN CANARYs! And if their oven gets too hot, will they BURN? YEA!

Good Morning, Everyone. 🍕PIE IN THE SKY🍕
🎶 Take another little PIZZA my heart now, Baby…🎶 “Piece of My Heart” – (with apologies to) Janis Joplin 1968 https://tinyurl.com/2kfs2abm
🍕The East Coast knows it’s pizza, and NY does reign supreme,
Across the RIVER Jersey tries…but trust me, it’s a dream
You can toss a stone and hit a place, we’ve got so many here,
Like an Eagle to CANARY, to compare them is UNFAIR…
So another joint like “Paul’s Place” def needs customers to draw,
Whether living in a CABIN or like these guys ‘bove the store…
Demand will always be there, the East Coast does love its pies…
So to live here there’s no problem, ‘cause there’s always one “NEAR-BUY”🍕

🏚 Preparing to renovate their CABIN NEARBY the RIVER, they thought it UNFAIR that the paint color they chose, advertised as Maize, turned out to be a bright CANARY shade…🏚
🖼 The cat eats the CANARY, up the RIVER one is sent,
She often spoke in idioms, it’s just a quirky bent
So inside her new bought CABIN, it hardly seemed UNFAIR,
That she would want some printables, for hanging here and there
But not too good at framing, no matter how she tried…
She was happy when she found a place that did so, so NEARBY…🖼

Good morning. Mike is this going to be your 1st or 2nd shot. Either way I hope you have an easy go of it. Thanks Mig on your shout-out for me. It’s 3 days since my 2nd shot and I’m all good. Very little reaction. They tell you to take Tylenol so I took it twice the first day and once the second day. Maybe that’s the reason I had little problems. As for Jumble, it was our typical Monday solve. Now that lent is over I can get back to having some more of my Grain pie that one of the bocce sisters made for me. The sisters don’t drive so I’m one of three that drive them to their homes and to show their appreciation some or all get rewarded. Christmas time I got Lasagna with sausage. It pays to be nice I’m lucky enough to get some of my wife’s cooking still on Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

Glad your shot was no harm, no foul Paul! We are 2/3 vaccinated as our son can’t get a shot until the 15th of April….

This was my 1st. I asked for the Johnson & Johnson one, but all they had was Pfizer. Thanks for the Tylenol tip. I’ll wait and see how I feel after dinner and make a decision.
I’ve never heard of grain pie before. After looking it up it says that it’s a pie with a filling of wheat berries, candied fruit, ricotta cheese and cinnamon. I hope you enjoy every last slice, Paul. Sounds delicious!

Good morning again. I read your comment Mike. With the paper even with a magnifying glass I’m unable to see the name of the pizza store. Whether it was a coincidence or not I still want to say thank you. Take care.

Happy Dyngus Day! In Buffalo NY,the day after Easter is a big holiday,Dyngus Day.Anagrams were a quick solve after I realized unfair was the solve rather than ‘furina’.Given the right letters for the cartoon solution, and the near by neighbors,”near buy” was alo a quick solution.

Easy solve this morning so we’re off to a good start for the week. Well, I learned something new today thanks to Chuck. I had never heard of Dyngus Day so I went right to Wikipedia. Though we have people of many ethnicities here, I don’t know anyone from Poland. I’m happy for the Stanford women and am rooting for Gonzaga tonight.

As are we, Betty. Gotta love Gonzaga. But if I hear one more “joke” about the name on TV this morning…I think I’ll go mad. It’s the same nonsense every year! 🤦🏻♀️ Give it a rest! .. But Dyngus Day…There was a conversation about it a few years back here on the blog. But again, the pandemic brain. I can’t remember who originated it, and I’m not having much luck looking for it. But it came to me because I had mentioned that today is “La Pasquetta” to us Italians. I just don’t remember what year it was. Maybe Steve might remember the Dyngus Day conversation…and the poor girls getting drenched! 🤦🏻♀️

I can’t find the absolute original post, but a quick Google search of ‘jumble answer Dyngus’ shows that Chuck mentioned it last year on the auspicious date of April 13, and the entries on 4/20/2017 and 4/22/2017 show you and Caroline talking about an earlier mention – the 4/22 talks about ‘drenching.’

Thank you, Steve! 👏🏻👏🏻 For a minute there I thought I was imaging things! 😂 I did see Chuck’s post last year, but I must have had my dates wrong on the others. (I think I went back a day before Easter..instead of forward..that left /right thing again)! 😂😂. Tks again, I’m going to have a look…🙋🏻♀️

Steve…Maybe I wasn’t so off the mark. It seems like the thread is fractured somewhat, that there’s comments missing. But at least the “mystery” is solved! 😂 🙋🏻♀️

Just checking in. Steve, you’re right I did mention it, but someone else brought the subject up originally. We get the Buffalo News and that’s how I know a little about the holiday. In fact, the paper has some photos of the parade today if people can see them:

Hi Caroline. I’m still wondering if I brought it up!😂 I don’t recall how it started. But I do remember there being the conversation..and you mentioning Buffalo. Selective memory! Or loss of memory! 🤦🏻♀️ My local paper has a small story on it today, there’s a Polish community on the Island, but there wasn’t any “celebrating”. Things are still somewhat different downstate. But as I told Steve, there seems to be parts of the conversation missing…🤷🏻♀️If I get the time, I may dig a little deeper. I couldn’t open your link though…I’m going to try on a different device…Thank you! 🙋🏻♀️

Hi all – The ‘UN’ trick made short work of UNFAIR, and putting Y at the end helped with CANARY which I didn’t remember seeing before.
From the cartoon I thought the answer might be “OVER-ALL”, but a further glance at the letters showed BUY and the rest.
Good wishes to everyone.
“It seemed so UNFAIR to coop up the CANARY in the CABIN when there were so many delicious bugs to feast on down by the RIVER.”
