  1. Good Morning, Everyone. 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻 I DO, I DO ENJOY THIS PUZZLE! 🤵🏻👰🏻‍♀️

🎶 Love and MARRIAGE, love and MARRIAGE…Go together like a horse and carriage…This I tell ya, brother, you can’t have one without the other…🎶 “Love and Marriage” – Frank Sinatra 1955 https://tinyurl.com/v6mvk2kz

👰🏻‍♀️ A lot of people years ago got married as a YOUTH,
But today some just seem to fight marriage with nail and tooth…
There’s pictures from the 40’s where MODEST brides were found,
And then there were the 70’s…the DAISY does abound….
But either way, the ones that last are built on love and trust,
DEPICT a marriage without trust? It’s def to be a bust…
So to these newlyweds, who have been married just a bit…
Congratulations to you both…we see you ESPOUSE IT! 🤵🏻

Marriage…Ironically there’s some surprisingly encouraging news about marriage in the time of COVID. I read this recently…”When times are tough, men and women often turn towards family and friends for support, sustenance, and solidarity. This was certainly true in 2020. Amidst so many trials and tribulations—a global pandemic, the worst recession in a century, political and social turmoil, and wildfires, to name just a few—many husbands and wives have seen their marriages grow stronger. In fact, reports of appreciation and commitment are up in post-COVID America for married couples. 58% of married men and women said that the pandemic has made them appreciate their spouse more. And 51% of husbands and wives reported that the events of the last year have deepened their commitment to marriage”….So at least something good has come out of all this….

Anyway…Our words. Something old, something new…little bit of both for you! We’ve no new words today, but I did find two of our anagrams in the Archives. TUYHO, from May 12th, 2018, and SIDYA from November 11th, 2015. And none of todays offerings caused any of the Early Birds to stray. In fact, they’ve gone the distance, and as a UNITED front, they all came up with the solve very quickly. And I must say, it does have a certain RING to it! AISLE definitely rank it up there as one of David’s best! And with that being WED…let’s move on to our cartoon.

Two couples. Newlyweds and friends that they’re visiting. With a vintage bottle of 1954 Jumble brand wine about to be opened, the host couple is talking about the recent wedding, and how it’s touched them both. And with our married couple singing the praises of wedded bliss, it’s obvious that the SPOUSES…ESPOUSE IT! https://tinyurl.com/3w897m5m. Brilliant, David!

Jeff’s Gems? Besides the bottle of wine, honoring Jumble’s debut in 1954, there’s the T-shirt worn by our groom, featuring the Tweedy Show. https://tinyurl.com/pvd7mdp4 And it looks like there’s a diffuser showing behind the couch. But what TIED THE KNOT for me? Yesterday I mentioned how we never see wedding rings in Jumble cartoons. But if you look closely, today there seems to be a band visible on our groom’s left hand, while his right is placed lovingly on his wife’s knee…And if you look closer still, under his hair, where his bride’s hand lies on his shoulder? It looks like a rock is worn on her finger. Now “that’s” definitely Jeff’s Gems!

So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Be well, stay safe…and I’ll leave you with a bit of humor that UNITES both Marriage and Puzzles…A man overheard saying…”Thanks to our mutual dislike of newspaper puzzles, my wife and I have enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Thirty years…and never a crossword…👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🙋🏻‍♂️ Ever since he met DAISY, he had a sense of new-found YOUTH, and he wasn’t just being MODEST when he said that he could DEPICT himself having a future where he’d ESPOUSE IT completely…🙋🏻‍♂️

🧏🏻‍♂️ When he was just a carefree YOUTH, he pictured life a DAISY,
Responsibilities?…Not much, in fact he was quite lazy…
But now that he’s a grown man, and learned how to DEPICT
The things that are important, he’s become a lot more strict…
He’s MODEST with his vices, he’s not one to play and flit…
He’s serious, and that old life?…No more he’ll ESPOUSE IT! 🧏🏻‍♂️

  3. Good morning. No problem with the words but I looked up the answer to the cartoon. I would have never gotten it. It’s a new word for me. I immediately went to the dictionary for its meaning. Since there were nine letters to the answer and I got IT does that mean I received 2/9 of a score. Loved you song choice Angela and all your tid bits. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • LOL! 2/9ths of a score? I don’t see why not Paul…I think the kids today get more than that for just participating! 😉 And thanks, I’m glad you liked the song choice, etc. Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe out there…👰🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. I’m modest enough to admit that the word MODEST gave me hardship until the answer to the question came up in my mind…ESPOUSE IT… It helps to be bilingual. Missing OES, I immediately guessed the jumble word MODEST.

  5. Cute puzzle this morning and I’ve always like that song by Frank Sinatra. I heard a clever ad from a local jewelry store at Christmas time. It said, “Fellows, if your relationship has survived the 2020 pandemic, why not make it permanent and buy her a ring for Christmas?” Wishing all of you a good day.

  6. Anagrams were an instant solve but I miscopied an M from modest rather than the O which prevented my getting the cartoon solution.Good news our deluge has stopped and we have a bright and clear sunny day.

    • Good Afternoon, Professor. The rain’s stopped here also…and luckily we were spared the snow that was threatening…but despite the sun, it’s freezing! 40 mph winds are whipping! Hopefully Spring will 😉 sprung soon! Have a good one, Prof. Be well and stay safe…🤵🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi all – Got the words with a smile that David slipped his beloved dog’s name in there. Then, wow! This has to be one of my all time favorite answers. I didn’t see anything except for the “IT.” I did come up with SUPPORT which fit, and PROPOSE which I thought was a pretty good pun, but ESPOUSE is really clever.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“Jeff’s GEMS” indeed, Angela! Thanks for pointing out the rings. I did chuckle at the 1954 reference showing up again.

    (This is a true sentence):
“In a yearbook group picture of all the members of my residence hall, there was one YOUTH who decided to DEPICT a naked flower child, holding an oversized DAISY in a strategic spot to remain somewhat MODEST.”
