  1. Happy Wednesday everyone! I’ll never forget the time back in high school when I foolishly thought that by taking a home economics course I’d secure an easy A. It turns out that the first half of the semester would focus on sewing, and the remainder of the course time would be spent in the kitchen. Never having threaded a needle before, I immediately knew I was in trouble! I’m glad I stuck it out though because I ended up learning some very valuable skills that I would never have received at home. I didn’t quite get the A that I was after, but I sure as heck got a lot of phone numbers!

    All of today’s clue words were familiar old friends. A few extra looks to get CAMEO was my only delay. And would you look at that — David arranged all of the solved words in alphabetical order again! For those keeping track, this is the fourth time he’s done so this year.

    Adorable cartoon of a young girl trying to impress her mom! Looking at all of the sewing equipment in the room leads me to believe that mom may somehow be involved in the world of high fashion. It’s either that, or she takes her sewing hobby very seriously! My favorite detail was the snapped thread coming from the spool on top of the sewing machine. The flower in the young girls hair also gave me a smile.

    The final solve was an anagram consisting of 10 letters. Six of them were consonants and four were vowels. I had no trouble stitching this one together after noticing the ‘SW’ at the end of the layout. With SEW out of the way, TO and SPEAK were quite visible to me in the remainder.     Anagrams no prob, as was the puzzle answer…..
    Just fun in the sun.

  4. The puzzle answer gave me pause but that was about it. Nothing too sticky or swampy in anagrams. Brainpower only made a cameo appearance, sew to speak. Welcoming rain on the plains today. Stay safe!

    🤦🏻‍♂️ It became a rather STICKY situation, SO TO SPEAK, when the CAMEO brooch fell into the SWAMPY water, and everyone had to PAUSE in an effort to retrieve it…🤦🏻‍♂️

    👅 His mind felt thick and SWAMPY, he knew he’d have to PAUSE,
    And even all the STICKY notes weren’t helping out his cause…
    His CAMEO appearance so far was looking weak…
    Forgotten lines and tongue-tiedness…a failure SO TO SPEAK! 👅

  7. Good morning. Three straight days with relative ease. No problem with either the words or cartoon. The answer was cute. Without looking at the letters I don’t think I would have gotten it. Once you saw the WPK among the letters the answer was almost instant. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  9. …I’m just going to sleeve this observation here…If you look closely at the cartoon, you can see that the little girl’s sewn the two arm coverings of her blouse quite differently. The right sleeve is rounded, while the left one is sewn to a point. I guess there’s no real arm in it…and if anything, I suppose it lends credence to Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Sleeve Your Cover”… 😉👚🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Clever puzzle this morning. Figured “sew” would be in the cartoon answer and the rest fell nicely into place. We’ve had a good week so far.

  11. Hi all – Everything fell right into place for once. Got the words (weren’t we just in a swamp recently?), the quotes implied “Sew”, and the “talkative” gave “speak” without needing the letters.

    I think “creative” may be a very tactful mother’s response to what looks to me more like a “coat of many colors.”

    I had a similar experience in high school, Mike. I needed one more elective in my last quarter, and took typing. Since computers and keyboards soon appeared, it turned out to be one of the most valuable skills I learned.

      If typewriters brought typing classes, and computers brought keyboarding classes, what would come next? Telepathy classes is my guess! 😂

    • Totally agree about the Typing course, Steve. I too took it as an elective and it has really proved valuable. No hunting and pecking on computer keyboards. I bought the I Pad Pro because it came with a keyboard. Is it raining over your way? The sky is very dark here but not much of the wet stuff yet. Have a good one.
