  1. Happy Tuesday everyone! Our clue words this morning were nothing out of the ordinary. They all solved straight down the line except for a slight hiccup on LIBEL. The solution itself wasn’t a problem, I just felt the need to slow down a bit to ensure that the E & L were in their correct positions. My guess was that OPERA was going to be the dealbreaker today, but early voting in the poll suggests that SOCKET is the one causing a WATT of trouble!

    Our cartoon transports us to the birthday party of a young adult turning 10. My first observation, and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who noticed this, but nobody was wearing a mask! There were quite a few details to surprise and delight as your eyes made their way around the room. Most interesting to me were the shirts that his units were wearing. Although I couldn’t find an exact date for the vintage Poi shirt Mom had on, the Wilco shirt that Dad is sporting is a throwback to 1994. The Birthday Boy is obviously a sports fan as the side of his cake was decorated with a football, a basketball and a baseball. He probably enjoys football the most as he’s wearing jersey #7 and his friend is in #1. The smallest detail that I noticed came from the smartphones that M&D were holding. Mom’s appears to be the deluxe model with three cameras while Dad’s only has one!

    The final solve was an anagram consisting of 10 letters. The vowel and consonant counts were evenly split at five. The double letter trick of combining similar letters, and separating the ones already combined, made the final solve a piece of cake! The double OO’s easily brought TOOK into view, and AGE stuck out like a sore thumb in the remainder. Have a terrific Tuesday everyone, and keep Jumbling!

  3. Nice Tuesday Jumble. Anagrams were straight forward although OPERA took extra time. Solution came easy. It didn’t take ages!

  5. The word OPERA reminds me of SATOR AREPO TENET OPERA ROTAS in Latin, which is a palindrome and looks interesting as a 5×5 square:
    SATOR
    AREPO
    TENET
    OPERA
    ROTAS
    Which to me means a tiller named Arepo has running wheels. IT TOOK AGES is a neat solution. There are shadow solutions, not too good, but there is SO GOAT KITE, suggesting to me a goat flying a kite or a child flying a goat as though it were a kite, and IT TOOK SAGE, and maybe there was SAGE in the birthday cake, or maybe it refers to a wise older person (a SAGE) to remind him that eventually he will be an adult.

    📱Arriving to cover the LIBEL case of the OPERA singer and the leaky GUTTER, he realized that his phone was dying, and IT TOOK AGES searching for a SOCKET to charge from…📱

    🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻As a child there’s no worries about LIBEL or the such,
    And no listening to OPERA, because that would be too much…
    There was playing in the GUTTER, softball games, things of that ilk,
    And coming back into the house to have cookies and milk…
    A SOCKET to charge all the toys, and books with pretty pages
    And growing up was lots of fun…so what if IT TOOK AGES…🧍🏻🧍🏻‍♀️

  7. Anagrams were a snap,I did pause on the cartoon solution,but ‘it’ as the first word was quickly followed by ‘ages’ and the ultimate,”It took ages” complete solution.

  8. Easy puzzle this morning. I remember as a child I could hardly wait for my birthday to roll around, which seemed to take ages. Now I say “Good grief is it here again already?” Wishing all of you a good Tuesday.

    It has been a good ride so far!… until the Covid!!!

  10. Hi all – I recognized OPERA, and the double letter trick helped get GUTTER.
    Thought TIME might be in the answer, but I got it after writing the letters.
    Nice touch with the sports-themed cake.

  11. I think this may be one of the things I miss most with this pandemic. Live shows…concerts, Broadway, comedy clubs. But we have to keep laughing..because it just gets too easy to give in to the alternative. So, enjoy this…”How You Know You’re Getting Older” …😂🙋🏻‍♀️
