  1. Good Morning, Everyone… 📊 THE INN SIDE STORY…📊

🎶 Be…our…GUEST…Be our GUEST! Put our service to the test. Tie your napkin ’round your neck, Chérie, and we’ll provide the rest…🎶 …”Be My Guest” – Sung by the characters, Lumiere and Mrs Potts. From the movie “Beauty and the Beast” 1991 https://tinyurl.com/lf7nbxf

📊 Vacation or HIATUS, an Inn is always nice,
But owners need to plan ahead to gauge what would be price
They could tweak here and there and guess, and maybe TINGE a bit,
But forecasting their revenue’s not MERELY left to wit
A penny saved, a penny earned, is just ADAGE related…
Projecting for the year ahead? They call it “GUEST-IMATED” 📊

Normal bookings…As I’m sure many of you have, before the pandemic, we hosted parties at the drop of a hat. Occasions, non-occasions…no rhyme or reason…don’t mind the season. Poker games, Super Bowl, birthdays, you name it…The door was open. But sometimes they were sit-down dinners, so I liked knowing beforehand how my table/s should be set. If I set for 10, and 20 showed up…well let’s just say that my PLATEitudes fell on deaf ears. Anyway…one day, I decided to be a little firm, all the while not wanting to insult the guilty. So I wrote “Kindly RSVP by…..so that I won’t have to GUESTimate how many we’ll be”…And lo and behold and napkin fold…everyone did. And everyone remarked about how my nudging made them chuckle. So ever since, whenever I send out an invitation of good CHAIR…I go with the GUESTIMATE line…It’s SERVED me well…

As do our words this morning. There’s nothing new to DISH, as we’ve seen all of our words within the last two years…but we do have three fresh anagrams, with only GNTIE coming up as a repeat from back on April 10th, 2015. https://tinyurl.com/y2ahxd4m And it’s HIATUS that caused the Early Birds to take a bit of a break, with an additional slight tic at ADAGE…Just saying…So, with that all INN the record BOOKs, it’s time to get down to business…

Set at what may be a seaside resort, or perhaps a country B&B, https://tinyurl.com/yyleruat we find todays Jumble characters discussing their state of arrears. Obviously affected by the pandemic, as most small business have been, they’re concerned about future bookings. But while our woman appears to have RESERVATIONS, her husband seems to feel that there’s still some wiggle ROOM. He’s confident that as long as they maintain their regular number of GUESTS, they’ll have their security BLANKET. But of course, it’s just a guess, an estimate… So how’d they balance those BOOKS? They “GUEST-IMATED”!

Jeff’s Gems? Below the “Welcome” sign on the wall, some quaint keys are hanging, numbered 1 to 3, and 5 to 7, and below that is shelving with some pamphlets. The registry book that our owner’s looking through is numbered 2 through 15, and we’re privy to see that each day is booked. And under the striped awning sit two wooden rocking chairs before a large bay window. It’s a SUITE retreat…

So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one…Be well, stay safe…and I’ll leave you with a little INN humor… A man, booked as a guest at an inn, arrives…And as he’s signing in, he looks around and notices a sign on the wall behind the desk. So he asks the Owner: “What time do you get in by?” The owner looking confused, says: “Well, I’m the owner, I live here on premises. Why do you ask?” The guest says..”Well, that sign there, it says guests have to be in before you”…The owner looking at the sign replies…”No, it says: “Note From the Owner…Guests must be in before 1 AM”! Book ‘em, Danno….📊 🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Preparing to go on HIATUS, he noticed what might MERELY be a TINGE of jealousy…but still the old ADAGE “Envy shoots at others and wounds itself”came to mind, and he ESTIMATED that he’d be leaving a few bruised egos iin his wake… 🤷🏻‍♂️

✍🏻 It seems there is an ADAGE for most scenarios,
A TINGE of guilt, a helping hand…and on and on it goes
One’s taking a HIATUS? I’m sure there’s one that suits,
It’s MERELY looking for the one that easily cahoots
These adages and idioms some claim are overrated…
    But I think they’re delightful…in fact under ESTIMATED! ✍🏻

  3. RIP, Miss Cicely Tyson, a grand woman of beauty and grace. A trailblazer. We will be hard pressed to see the likes of you again. God speed. 🙏🏻

  4. Good morning. I had total failure today. I think I had to look up Hiatus last time out also. Then a complete blank on the cartoon answer. The only good thing out of today was Angela’s enjoyable post along with the song choice. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Thank you. Here’s looking forward to tomorrow…Be well, stay safe…and keep warm. It’s freezing! 🥶🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Paul we should alternate days doing the J because we seem to have similar experiences. My mind was on HIATUS and I had no shot at the solution….. At least our drenching rainstorms have largely passed!

  5. Hiatus gave me reason to pause, but given the letters,I ,too was stumped by the cartoon solution, thinking the first word was guess rather than guest, and as usual the hyphenated second word stumped me completely.Must be a Friday.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Hiatus was anagrammed very well. It may end up the stumper of the day…Hope you’re staying safe and warm. Be well, Prof! 🥶📊🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Chuck, Paul come sit with me in back of the room where we can fold paper wads and rubber band them to the guys in front. Have a good day, till tomorrow – bye!

  7. Hi Everyone –
I had a brief problem with Hiatus but then remembered this tough word from the past. I also checked to make sure the anagram was spelled Merely and not Meerly. The answer came to me after I noticed Guest among the letters and figured it might be a pun, which seem to be appearing more frequently. I enjoyed your Inn joke, Angela, though I didn’t get it right away.

    • Hi Caroline. Good Afternoon. Guest was the key opening the Jumble door today! It was definitely a cute pun…And thank you. My friend didn’t get it right away either. He asked me “1 o’clock? What’s funny about 1 o’clock”? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sometimes you just can’t win! 😂 Have a good day, Caroline. Be well, stay safe and keep warm! 🥶🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Good mental workout this morning. Love those quotation marks. Figured out the anagrams without difficulty but had to resort to paper and pencil to solve the cartoon. Like, Caroline, once I saw guest – imated fell into place nicely. Hope all of you have a Good Friday.

    • Hi Betty. You know I’m with you..l see those quotation marks…and my pulse quickens! 😂 I love them! Wishing you a good day too, Betty. Be well and stay safe. 📊🙋🏻‍♀️

    • INNto bed? 😉 Here’s to tomorrow, Agnes. REST assured you’ll do better! Have a good one…be well and stay safe! 📊🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Hi all – I saw SUSHI which became HIATUS, and AGED before ADAGE, which took me the longest. No idea about the answer, so I had to look at the letters for a few minutes before GUEST appeared, which gave the rest.

    Good wishes to everyone.

I liked your INN-side joke, Angela, and the term “state of arrears” instead of “state of affairs.”

“He felt a TINGE of regret when their friendship went on HIATUS, but was comforted by the old ADAGE that absence would MERELY make the heart grow fonder.”

    • You solved exactly as the Early Birds did today…Birds of a feather? And the “Absence making the heart grow fonder”? 👏🏻👏🏻I just said that last night. I miss so many people..😢 It’s so apropos for what we’re all going through right now. And thanks…(This time Lou was smart enough not to make BOOK against you when I told him you’d get “arrears”)! 😉 Enjoy your day, Steve. Be well and stay safe out there…📊🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Thanks Angela. I wondered whether “state of arrears” was an actual phrase, so I’m glad to hear, as I suspected, that you COINED it to win a bet. Lou wised up though, eh? 🦉 Too bad; I guess he’ll have to go back to making money shorting GameStop stock! 😂
I looked at the weather map, so I’ll change your wishes to say, stay safe and WARM back there!

        • LOL! YW…But no, I didn’t COIN it to win a bet…I was just making ROOM for him to challenge me again! 😉 But as far as the market goes, he hasn’t the stomach for it…he’s not the risk taker I am…😉 Warm? Thanks, but I think we’ve put that to BED for a few days…it’s freezing 🥶 here! And the winds are INN full force…Today I don’t mind staying indoors! 🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. No solution for me but I liked the pun too! HIATUS put me on one…. All inn all a fun J Day. Hope y’all are having fun…………………….

  11. *** FYI*** In honor of NATIONAL PUZZLE DAY, one of David’s favorite days of the year, and for those of you who don’t follow his Word Search World Traveler page on Facebook, this was posted a little over an hour ago. You’re going to love this! ONYEJ! 🔠 🌍✈️ 🙋🏻‍♀️
